  1. I might have to have a venture up there this weekend if the minature trains are running, but first I have got a big steam loco to film on saturday as leander is going up to york and scarbrough. so if I am at dore station say 07:30am I could do my filming of the proper steam engine and then nip over to the minatures as I will have got my video camera with me plus all my other gear.plus there is 2 specials loco's running from barnsley as well taking the football supporters to cardiff for the play off. how thrilling i will stick to my railways far more enjoyment and there is never any trouble not like at the football matches.
  2. save your money and spend it on something more usefull, because we all know that england wont win the world cup we havent got any footballers good enough to win it. you can tell I am not a keen football supporter I will not have any england flags in my house or any sheffield wednesday or sheffield united flags. now if it was for tennis or golf then we would have all the flags or even the badminton horse trails which we do support especially the horses but then I could be winding people up or could I.
  3. if you take a trip in to rotherham and go to a shop called brookes & brookes which is the tobbaconist at the top of the high street, go and see the chap who owns it because his grandad was none other than shilitoe the head copper who sorted out the gang wars in sheffield and the likes of the moonies and the garvins. i am sure he will tell you what you need to know but dont go on a wednesday as the shop is shut.
  4. I will have to show this thread to a friend of mine and see what he says about it, because he as got 10 kids it would have been 11 but she lost the baby when she went the full term ie 41 weeks. she had her first when she was 16 years old as she is now only 30 she doesnt want anymore and before anybody says anything he is working and not living on state benefits or hand outs, he is a manager and as been for a very long time. would this apply to all the other nationalities who are here in this country or are saying just the english people should have there child benefit slashed?. I supose the goverment might as well give it a go they have done everything else to make the poorer people worse off whats the next thing you are going to come out with higher poll tax or even higher rents my answer to this thread is if i was a young chap then i would keep turning out babies with my girlfriend/wife/secret lover/mistress and anybody else who would like a baby or three.
  5. I use to get crank calls every hour of the night until one night I decided to blow my football whistle down the line, I still got some crank calls but not from the other people who was ringing me so I got in touch with bt and they now stop any market reasearch people and I have also got call monitering service which all this as cost me zero and since it as been put on we dont get crank calls anymore. so give BT a ring and tell them what is happening there is always somebody there to help you and put a stop to the calls.
  6. I tend to cook mine very slow because if you rush it the meat will be tough, to cook a good rabbit stew it needs to go into a big cooking pot with all the added veg and put in the oven a slowly cook it just keep topping up the water every now and then. when I cook rabbit it is in the oven for about 5 hours that way the meat will just fall off the bones and it will be very soft and tender. when it is cooking I tend to add about a half bottle of sweet cider to it and cook it for a further 2 hours my grilfriend and my kids go mad on my rabbit stew. I think we shall have to have rabbit on sunday for a change I am getting a bit tired of t bone steaks and pork. so it will be off to sheffield market in the morning for about 6 rabbits I normally cook 4 off them anyway.
  7. get drunk, get more drunk, get even more drunk, get drunk so as you will not see what sheffield is really like, and catch the next bus or train to somewhere better than sheffield.
  8. ok everyone just come back from doncaster and been to have a look at the new interchange does everybody know that it opens in 2 weeks time and they are behind on it, there is still some work to be done also I have been told by one of the staff that they are not going to allow any buses in the new interchange that is over 8 years old, any above that age will have to go on to the duke street site and they are going to keep the north bus station open, because national express is going to use the back stands and the rest of the stands is for taxi's and the mobilty people who uses cars. also the cafe in the north bus station is to be kept open to see if anybody will still use it and the papershop is to be shut completely.
  9. hunters bar is there still loads of old book shops up there I havent been up there for about 5 years, I am on the look out for some books mostly transport and photography as I need some to go to my collection. so if there is anybody who goes up there or even lives up there can you let me know if the old book shops are still in use. cheers
  10. we use to have the same problem where we lived only it got very bad as 4 of my neighbours including me found used syringes in our gardens. so action had to be taken we knew that if we got the police involved they would do nothing so one dark night we was all in our attics with the windows open and bang on 21:00pm they started to appear they use to always sit on the spare ground drinking ale and smoking there joints and using our gardens as toilets and for shooting up there arms with the syringes. so my next door neighbour put is big garden light on and we just opened up with our hose pipes spraying freezing cold water on them. we have had know trouble since not even them shouting or swearing all night or using our gardens for there toilet actions and using there syringes.
  11. I have got a mullet and have had one for going on 15 years, i have tried all the other hair styles from teddy boy to skinhead to mod to rockers to complete head shaved. I use to have my hair like cousin IT off the addams family but got sick of walking in to lamp posts so it was the mullet for me and I can honestly say I will never have my mullet chopped off even when I am laid in my coffin my mullet will be going with me to the other life. I feel sorry for all the young blokes who lose their hair in there early 20's and going on to there early 30's, cant be much fun going out completely bald in the freezing cold weather not like us who have got very long hair and just about coming up to my 52nd birthday my long hair is nearly down to my bum, but I refuse to go to the barbers and pay them prices to have it trimmed or cut I have not been to the barbers for over ten years, why should I when my girlfriend is a hairdresser so she takes care of it for me I wash it everyday with out fail but for me to lose my mullet I will never get rid of it and I dont care what other people think or even say about it, I at least have still got my own hair even at my age and it is so nice and long.
  12. I will have to pay them a visit at the private shop as I need a puncture repair kit for the damm blow up doll I bought from them when I was a single man I gave her a love bite and she flew out of the window. also our lass needs some heavy duty batteries for her roman candle we have tried a car battery but she wears them out too quick I dont feel embarassed when I go in them shops they are there to help couples and single blokes and anybody else who needs them. this is life and some of them garments what they have got on show for the women its a wonder they can do anything when they are wearing them. so love is life
  13. for those who do not know what snuff is made of well it is 100% pure tobacco with added ingredients ie menthol and such like I once had to do some photos in a snuff company and I saw how it was made I had a clear head for about a month what with all the menthol they use. I use to take snuff everyday but I went back to smoking my pipes as I started to lose interest in taking it. snuff is very addictive just like smoking tobacco or I am now getting a very fond liking to chewing tobacco and the darker the baccy and the stronger the baccy is the better I like it. I only chew tobacco when I am working in my darkroom as you cant smoke in there because of the chemicals what we use. it does wonders for your bowels though
  14. yeah and I am leaving england to go live in scotland in august and I cant wait, so I will have to take my taxes with me and yes I hope I am tight fisted when I am up there I might even live the rich life of an english man as well. the only things I will miss in england is my tight fisted mates but the joy of not hearing them moan all bloody day will be sheer bliss.
  15. what I am saying is he should be taken down a peg or two and white rose someone else mentioned on this thread about him being in the showers and if he drops his soap, but I dont see you having a go at the other person who said it I would take it that you are a big fan of nassem hamed he must think himself lucky to just have one devoted fan. but you wont have long to see in back in sheffield as it as come out he is to appeal against his sentence and his solicitors are now working on it to get him released sooner.so the roads wont be safe again with him out and about. I dont have time for cowards and if people who cause accidents decided to do a runner I just wish I was there when he did run because he wouldnt have got very far with me chasing him.
  16. It also said on the radio that the reason he as gone to an open prison is so he can still do his running ie excersise and still keep himself fit mind you he will if he is caught running away from another car crash. because I dont think this 4 year ban is going to stop him from driving not as he is a cocky little buggar that needs taking down a peg or two. good luck to him I just hope he gets caught in the showers when he drops his soap and bends over for it. what I cant understand is that the DVLA kept the other part to themselfs and didnt even tell the judge that he had already had a ban on driving, it makes you wonder if he didnt give them a back hander to keep there mouths shut about it or he knew someone in the DVLA and told them to keep it hushed up. so it looks like he will be home for christmas oh I wonder if he will try drink driving for a change to just make him look good for his mates, he might even get a faster car for christmas as a present to himself. whats the saying if you cant do the time then dont the crime.
  17. good luck on trying we have tried quite a few of them to register my son and all we have come up against is a brick wall, it is all down to money now if you can pay for the treatment then you will get it sorted if you cant then you will have to suffer, my 3 year old son his front teeth are not properly through yet all his others are alright, some nights he is in very bad pain with them we took him to the doctors and he reffered him to our local dentist, upon arrival the dentist had a look at them and then told us we cant register him as there is know places for him, he then went on to tell us that it could be a possibilty that he will need an operation to remove them if his other teeth dosent push them through. but sorry we can do nothing for him unless you can pay for his treatment then we can do it tomorrow. I just said well you know what you can do stick it up your a*se
  18. A one way ticket to bonnie scotland in august and I cant wait to get up there and leave south yorkshire for good because I wont be coming back to my birth place.
  19. you will be alright if you can put up with the helicopters and the light planes what keeps taking off from there, I was up there last tuesday went to have a look at a friends helicopter what he as just bought waste of money if you ask me, mind you its like he says you can tell the men from the boys by the size of there toys.
  20. Hi guys and girls, I need to know something as I was coming through the rotherham interchange last night and going for my bus home, I noticed a lot of police walking round and talking to people is this going to be a regular thing having the police down there at night, because if it is then some of the OAP's will feel much safer down in the interchange at night, also is there police in the sheffield interchange at night or is it just rotherham, there is something else that happened this morning as we was walking through to the train station we went via the interchange and the police was still there only this time one of them which she was a lady in plain clothes and clip board in hand and with another lady constable was asking people questions, have I missed something in the interchange or is this the PTE's way of making sure that all the interchanges are a lot safer with the police being there at night, is it happening in sheffield or barnsley cant say doncaster as they havent got an interchange just yet but they should have one next month because thats when the new one opens.
  21. Hi all well we have just come back from york and I wish now that we had never gone the weather oh it was great this morning but then it happened, the weather changed and boy did it hail stone they was the size of golf balls the hail stones what fell, and the thunder and lighting I have never seen lighting like that I tried to video it but not a chance too many hail stones coming down I didnt think it was going to stop and then it started to rain and boy did it rain, it was bouncing off the floor, we had gone to see some friends of ours who moved to york last year and they told us they have never seen anything like it since they moved here. tonight I am going to set my video camera up on my tripod and do some time exposures round about 23:00pm as we are going to get a storm or so paul hudsons says the weatherman, as I have now moved up to the attic and turned it into my study room I can hopefully get some good shots with my big window open. why cant we have more than two days of sunny weather this global change as got a lot to answer for i bet in the months june, july, august, and september we get more rain and more rain with maybe the odd day of sunny weather.
  22. yes but look what is going to happen he may have been sentenced to 15 months but he will only do 7 months 2 weeks then he will be free to reak havoc once again and this 4 year driving ban do you think that will stop him, he will be back behind the wheel of a car because thats how smug he is he couldnt have given a toss if that chap he smashed his car in too lived or died, too bloody big headed for his own good lets just hope he gets took down a peg or two when he is inside. I myself think he should have got at least 5 years if it had been an english person who had crashed his car and was found guilty of dangerous driving he would have got 5 year for it, but because he is famous he got a light sentence he will be sat inside the prison laughing at the sentence he got he knows he will only do half of the 15 months he got then back out to what ever he wants to do.
  23. what a stupid question free bus fares for everyone it will never happen the bus companys are out to make money hence thats why the bus fares go up to line there fat wallets, do you think that the goverment would allow it when they with the scheming ways try to get more money out of us. free bus fare's what ever next free rail travel to any part of the country or free airline tickets not when you have got people like richard branson and virgin airlines he is not satisfied unless he is getting more money to put in his fat wallet. so lets ask this question who would pay for the new buses what we get every 10 years not the goverment but us by the bus fare's what we have to pay for and I can see in the next 10 years the all day saver what you get in south yorkshire for £3.50 will have gone up past the £6.00 mark, but here is one for you this all day saver what first does costs £3.50 but up in scotland and they have got first bus there all day saver costs £ 2.35 so how can scotland have cheap tickets but not us and before anybody jumps on me about this cheap all day saver I have just come back from scotland and I bought the all day saver, I went from glasgow all the way up to inverness for £2.35p now thats a bargin.
  24. yes you are right there use to be a pub under the black swan called the merry england bar I know of it very well as I worked there in the early 70's and always on a friday and saturday night, it was there long before the complete angler as that is what they called the pub when it had its name changed after a refurbishment. biggest mistake they made when the changed everything in the merry england bar and called it the complete angler more like the complete mess. I stopped going in there when it had been refurbished. so give that man a ceegar for getting it right
  25. the grennel moore is named after the blokes who use to cut the meadow in the pastures a very very long time a go, if you go into the pub up on grenhill you will see a plaque inside the pub telling you the story of how the grennel moore got its name, I use to see this everyday as the grennel moore use to be my local when I lived up there all them years ago. I also believe that the sycthes what they use to us to cut the meadow was called a grennel in the olden days and so this is one belief that is where the name came from moore being the hill on which the grass grew and grennel the name of the blade what cut it down, so thats how the grennel moore came about. it the same as beauchief when I lived up there on lowedges I had a mate a rather posh chap who lived in the houses on bocking lane, i would call beauchief as it is spelt be he would call it bowchief but then snobs cant say words properly with out moving the plum in there gob, everything as to be said rather posh oh thank god I am not a snob and I talk broad yorkshire with my words of thee and thow and now then thee, posh people dont like yorkshire men who talk the yorkshire dialect we are commoners to them.
