We had to carry all our things around too- lunches, PE kit, books, food tech concoctions, graphics folder- surprised some of the richer kids didn't commission a sherpa.

How much is it going to cost schools to build bigger facilities? Are school meal prices going to go up? Will the food be that much healthier? I left Silverdale in 2005 and remember pizza and curly fries were abundant, just wondered what the situation is like now.

That's awful. According to reports there's enough grit to go around, so if any areas aren't being gritted then it's a decision that's been made locally...makes you wonder what the council will have to say about it. Have you managed to get out and about or have you been snowed in? If you can get out then at least the leisure centre will have its own ice rink

I know this isn't technically a Sheffield issue, but I've heard a lot of people calling Radio Sheffield about the appalling state of the roads in North East Derbsyhire, particularly Dronfield and Eckington. I'm a journalism student at Sheffield University, and I'd be really interested to hear from anyone who's been affected. My car is currently under 2ft of snow in Ecclesall so I can't get to the area myself, but if anyone has any stories to share they'll be gratefully received Hope everyone's doing ok inspite of the snowpocalypse.

My brother had a massive collection of rubbers/erasers, but this was in the early to mid 90s and no one else bothered. He must have been born a decade too late! I found a Walkers Tazos display ringbinder and a lone Biker Mice from Mars pog when rummaging through some boxes recently...maybe it's time for a clear out

I've got family in Liverpool and also studied there, and have to say that it does have the edge on Sheffield. I've had some great nights out here, but they definitely have a better selection of bars and pubs to choose from.

nerd, I know exactly what you mean- I only seem to be capable of doing anything vaguely constructive once the Sign Zone starts (if the tv listings are to be believed then deaf people are nocturnal too ). Famous last words, but I think I might actually manage an early night tonight...well, before 2am anyway.
