Surprised to see that novel get a mention ... and I have a lateral link to it as the last book I've bought (for the maths, ostensibly) was Pilot Plants and Scale-up Methods. An old McGraw Hill text book, co authored by a Sheffield University professor (Thring 1957). From which I read something about the idea that the pilot plant (working with a few kgs) is the vital, necessary knowledge, linking the lab discovery (just a few grams) to the industrial production plant (many tonnes).

Sheffield Wanderers Walking Group - Ashover, Sunday 7th October

No... but I did do the Ashover brewery trip to the poets corner pub where the landlord showed us a thing a two about brewing ... I was impressed. The Abbots I'm sure was good but I'd've gone awol about then. -

That reminds me of Heston Blumentahl's (?) Crab ice-cream, nobody liked it until the category name was changed to reflect the savoury taste. Mousse anyone? No one's going to twist your arm; and pearls, even quite large ones, aren't everyone's fancy. -

If you're lucky they'll have liquorice beer on in The Old Poet's Corner. -

That looks like a great walk. Pity there isn't any public transport ... if any one is going through Sheffield ... Hillsborough end ... I'd really appreciate a lift Tony 07909940825:help: -
Horizon Recruitment (near the Cathederal)

Last I knew they were at Petre Street, and before that they were in Watson Chambers, Castle Square. -
It is towards the advanced, looking at the website. The last night walk I did was to wander out to Back Tor and see the High Peak Marathon. The night was a little damp with quite thick fog, and the sight of reflective hi-vis lycra runners, with their headtorch beams approaching in 4 man teams was surreal. That event is advanced, but paced sensibly you can see how it is done.

Learning and adapting, great post uncle. I've heard the rucksack club is good for the adventurous. http://www.rucksackclub.org/

The sole has been the weak link in my experience. Vibram has good grip but can split and they all soon wear.

The bin men didn't empty our bins this morning. I see they have put stickers on them saying they are too heavy. Looking inside the bins I see someone is dumping builders rubble and garden waste in them, again. I went to the council who said phone Veiola, who said tough luck. I went on line to the council's web site and see their strategy after giving you the run around is to hide.
