  5. Hi all! Thought you might be interested in this. I was on the Rony Robinson show on Wednesday morning talking about music and young children. The piece was put together as a book has just been released on how musical interaction with children in the 0-7 age group can improve their iq and intelligence. It starts at about 1 hour 8 minutes in (just after the 11 o'clock news) and the lady who wrote the book is on a while later. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01pbtqg Makes for interesting listening and is something that I believe passionately in. You can find out more about tootlepops at http://www.tootlepops.co.uk There are currently spaces in Dore sessions on Mondays and Fridays. Cheers Catherine xx

  10. Hi, you all sound just like I did when I first came to Sheffield! Didn't know anyone except my husbands friends and then we had a baby and they were all working so I had no one to socialise with in the daytime. I eventually plucked up the courage to join a baby music group and met some fantastic people who I still meet up with 7 years later on a weekly basis! First it was for the kids to play together but then it became "cake club" as they moved onto school age! I now run that original music group - http://www.tootlepops.co.uk - you would be very welcome to come along for a free trial session. It's a great way to meet new people and make life-long friends. Good luck to you all and your little ones. Catherine x

  13. Hi all There are still a few places left for you and your little ones at Tootlepops! Classes run in Dore at the Old School House on Mondays and Fridays and in Carter Knowle on Thursdays. All classes run for 30 minutes at 09:45, 10:30 and 11:15 on each day with lots of fun around a central theme - at the moment its counting songs. You can find out lots more about me and the classes I run on my website http://www.tootlepops.co.uk There is a free trial session for every new enquiry and then you book in blocks of 5 classes for just £20, if your little one is under 9 months then it's only £15, with siblings charged at only £1 per session. There is also information on netmums in the music classes section: http://www.netmums.com/sheffield/local/view/preschool-classes/music-and-dance/tootlepops Including a couple of really nice reviews of what I do! Would be great to fill up the last few spaces available! Cheers Catherine x
  14. Hi all Just a quick plug for my baby music groups which start again on the 8th September. Take your child on a magical, musical adventure. Have fun with singing, playing with instruments and of course catching bubbles whilst listening to music. Snacks are provided at the end of each session for the little ones. All my sessions are a fun, relaxed way to introduce your little one to the fabulous world of music through all those half-remembered songs and rhymes from your own childhood. Each session has a theme which runs for 3 consecutive weeks, helping to create continuity and helps you remember the words each week! Children like familiarity so plenty of songs re-appear in other themes. Relax and enjoy some quality time with your child and make a great bunch of new friends with all the other Mums there. First session is free for all new enquiries. Sessions run in the music room at Bents Green Methodist church during term time and half term holidays. Days and Times: Thursdays at 0945, 1030 and 1115 Suitable for all pre-school children from tiny tots to 4 year olds! £20 for 5 sessions with missed sessions credited so this brilliant activity doesn't break the bank in these austere times. I look forward to seeing you there - please call to check availability at your preferred session time! http://www.tootlepops.co.uk (website under construction but should be up over the weekend) phone: 07800 919449 email: catherine@tootlepops.co.uk Cheers Catherine x
  15. There are several famous folk musicians who live in Sheffield - Martin Simpson, Jon Boden, Fay Hield. They all have websites with contact details and are all very approachable, lovely people.
