  1. The one we had a couple of years ago damaged the walls and door frames in a friend's kitchen (Wincobank), they made a claim on the house insurance.
  2. Got to admit though that fox droppings (polite) smell horrendous.
  3. It's probably not the cause of the steaming, but do check (as clownaround suggests) the drainage is not blocked around the heater intake. On my Mk 3 Astra it drains into a central rubber tube and this had become blocked allowing the channel to fill and overflow down the air intake resulting in swamped carpets. I had to strip out the floorpan sound proofing and leave to dry out during the summer months.
  4. It's not only the West-Japan, Hong Kong and now China and all the rest of the Emerging Market nations all want a slice of the action.
  5. There was one at the rear of the Stalker Drill Works on Langsett Road/Normandale Road (demolished around 1971); when we were kids back in the late 50s we once managed to get inside through some trapdoor at ground level, whether there were other access points I don't know. It may, of course have been just for the workers at the firm. I remember there were allsorts of WW2 paraphernalia scattered about inside.
  6. Considering models featuring the hot inlet, I think this was only activated when the "Very Hot" programmes were selected (mainly for white cottons), but not absolutely sure. It would, of course, save on electric usage if an alternative hot supply could be tapped, say from an Aga or similar. The cold-fill only models will, of course, have to depend entirely on the electric supply to heat the wash.
  7. I agree with this as there is the possibility that some domestic hot water feeds could actually be close to boiling, especially if tapped off an Aga or the like.
  8. Radweld works because your car radiator has a fixed amount of water in an enclosed system- I'm not sure whether anything is available to work in similar fashion on your bath drain. Also, apart from the drain connections, the leak might be from the tap supply pipes/connections. Best removing the panels and finding the source of the leak.
  9. My grandfather, who was the lamplighter for Walkley and Crookes (also a file cutter), also knew Reg Dixon well before the war.
  10. I remember when Wogan made an appearance at the Last Night of the Proms, thankfully he didn't do a rendition of the "Floral Dance"!
  11. I wouldn't be surprised if Terry Wogan or Bruce Forsyth are invited to appear.
  12. I believe this should read "It's the same on the main road near to where I live. There are utterly pointless banners proclaiming Sheffield in Bloom", although this last sentence could be better phrased.
  13. I do it every Christmas but they always pretend not to be in.
  14. Go round dressed as Santa knocking on the doors of Jehovah's Witnesses to wish them a Merry Christmas!
  15. The essence of the Old Testament is the Golden Rule, Do As You Would be done By, and for the New Testament it is The Coming Kingdom of God, which was the basis of Jesus' ministry. Now, I cannot see any objection in athiests observing the former as a basis for moral guidance, but they can be justified in challenging the latter on its claims for the supernatural. So, in other words, atheists and agnostics who have been nurtured in the Christian culture can accommodate many of the Christian moral principles without compromising their unbelief in the supernatural element of that religion, and moreover, can postulate that the origin of those principles had developed elsewhere.
  16. I bought my BSA Spitfire from Wraggs in 1966, before that I had an Arrow in two tone blue. I tuned the engine (10:1 comp. ratio, matched the port openings etc and sawed an inch off the footpegs so I could get round the old Cutthroat bridge (Ladybower) at nearly 60; started to rub off the "Avon Speedmaster" on the sidewalls. Must have been mad.
  17. I agree with that- they're also Millenialists in that Jesus is prophesied to return to earth (post Apocalypse) and rule for a thousand years, all the believers being resurrected and JWs filling all the administrators jobs on the "New Earth". They teach a literal interpretation of the Bible, with the exception of Jesus' parables which are considered to be allegorical. They're well known, of course, for their many predictions (based on the Book of Daniel and Revelation), but none have ever proved to be true.
  18. But in different forms, not just the one depicted in the Old Testament.
  19. Does anyone know if there is a legal limit to the amount of cash that you can hold without putting it into a bank account?
  20. That fellow who I paid to tarmac my drive the other day, I thought the wig he was wearing was just due to the cold weather.
  21. I think Penistone Rd acts as a boundary line for these districts rather than going through them.
  22. I don't have a signature, or a link to youtube, as far as I can remember.
  23. I think you mean "sex within a marriage".
  24. The wind strength is diminished on the lee side of the blades, although, depending on the proximity of other turbines, turbulance may be created. Tidal power works in a similar way to wind power in that the movement of the waves is used to generate electricity - tidal generators are designed to move freely and therefore they do not diminish the power of the waves. They do, the energy travelling through the water (wave) is converted by turning the electical generator within the unit, and it can be shown that wave motion is less immediately behind the generator.
