  1. Are you confident that it's the remote at fault? If so there is a simple way to tell (or any infa-red remote).
  2. Yes, it's also private tenanted properties that are amongst the "culprits". One of my neighbours whose now 86 still tends his back lawn and Apple trees on his 3-bed council property, although he has had the aforementioned assistance from the council to help clear his frontage of weeds. A friend was one of the first to live on the then new "Tillotson" Council development (opposite) Heeley Church on Gleadless Rd approx 1982 until 1991 and to the rear was a green space, a childen's play area and some lock-up sheds which contained Council gardening equipment. I remember seeing the gardeners regularly at work cutting grass etc around the small estate however I'm not sure how far they ventured to other areas in the locality, but at the time this new development was regarded by the Council as a "showpiece" so I believe they concentrated resources there while other areas got next to zilch. If anyone can add to that I would be interested.
  3. Many of the Council-owned properties with (able-bodied tenants) wouldn't be too concerned about that, they've already re-wilded their front (and back) gardens plus an array of tin cans and old bicycle frames.
  4. Should have been abolished years ago "Sebastian O’Kelly, whose Leasehold Knowledge Partnership group has been at the forefront of the battle against spiralling ground rents, says apartment buyers should gain the same protections now being given to house buyers. “New leases should be indefinite; ground rent should be abolished; all flats should be built with residents’ management companies, so the residents take control once a majority of the flats are sold.”"
  5. There is no answer to that.
  6. They should have been giving out free samples of vegetarian eggs.
  7. Is this it? https://connectingsheffield.commonplace.is/en-GB/proposals/neepsend-kelham-city-centre/start
  8. Parts of Wordworth Avenue needs some TLC, but I agree, Page Hall is in a class of its own.
  9. I drove down Sheaf st, round Park Square, then D. Dooley way to Shalesmoor and traffic was noticeably quieter than normal at that time (1.50pm yesterday).
  10. For the sake of balance, it's not the only area in Sheffield that is heavily littered, but it surely takes first prize.
  11. Your on the right lines, get ideas from "best printers for under ÂŁ100" etc, preferably with 3 seperate colours and 1 black, then check price of compatible ink carts on ebay and ascertain that there are no probs with using other than maker's carts. I have an old Epson D88, cheap ink and I can leave it for months and it works first print- keep it wrapped in a thick plastic bag when not in use.
  12. Yes, I have not suggested that they have been a social problem, only that as they moved into the area (darnall et al) and expanded, the older residents moved or weren't replaced for one reason or another. It can't be denied that tensions have arisen between certain ethnic minorities in Page Hall. As for West Indians, I don't think there are many in Page Hall, but Burngreave does have its own problems, the Council has poured a lot of money in there over the years. Edit- to clarify, I meant "behaviour" as regards some of the Eastern Europeans who came.
  13. A friend and his family lived in the area (Whiteways Drive) but he didn't prefer the way the area was developing so he sold up and moved to Devon; this would be around the same time South Asians were moving into the area. In the early 2000s (thanks to the EU Freedom of Movement), there began an influx of Eastern Europeans (mainly Roma) who exhibit different ways of life and culture that pervaded previously. It would seem that many of the longer established residents (like my friend) chose to leave the area as maybe they were unable or unwilling to assimilate with the new culture(s) and behaviours of the new incomers.
  14. Is it in two halves screwed together? If so, take it apart clean (meths good) and dry. Not sure on the latest remotes, but there is usually a rubber membrane beneath the buttons and the liquid penetrates under this and (temporarily) shorts out the contacts. If liquid (and sugar?) has contacted the other electronics inside, it still might be ok when dried. There is normally an on/off button, volume and channel change buttons located near a rear edge or side on most flat screen tvs.
  15. Don't know what you lot are on about, looks tidy enough to me https://picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s25442&pos=15&action=zoom&id=27886 https://picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s25442&pos=15&action=zoom&id=27886
  16. I did notice a sign on the brocolli stating a limit of 3 (I think it was) per person.
  17. It is, it's him- I saw him other evening in Morrisons with a big trolley buying up all their tomatoes because he's running out of ammo.
  18. Been looking at very light scooters, this one as an example, although it gives nett weight as 7.5 kg, so what is gross weight? Depends what is available over here. https://www.onbuy.com/gb/foldable-electric-scooter~c10595~p53808068/?exta=bingsh&lid=75062599&stat=eyJpcCI6IjQ5OS4wMDAwIiwiZHAiOiIwLjAwMDAiLCJsaWQiOjc1MDYyNTk5LCJzIjoiMTAwMCIsInQiOjE2NzY1MTQ5NzUsImJtYyI6IjEwLjAifQ==&gclsrc=aw.ds&&msclkid=70e5fc7a72ef1ebbd7c99f8b768c3505
  19. Ok I did this, it downloaded the drivers, I clicked get ink levels and they appeared, then I was able to print off 2 test pages. Funny, it did download it before. Anyhow, it appears to be functioning now, so thanks everyone. Printer is mainly used for postage labels occasional letters etc. One thing I like about it is the ink is relatively cheap and works on compatible carts. A friend has a basic HP all -in- one with a combined colour cartridge, no compatible seems to work and the HP one is over ÂŁ50! The counter was reset a few years ago with the SSC service utility, I'll download again and reset it.
  20. Yes, an up-to date-laptop is on the cards, at a very attractive price from a friend who regularly upgrades to the latest devices, but not until March . I've deleted the driver(s) (350mb), but there is a confusing choice of replacements: Epson's own website which offers an updater at 5.5mb https://www.epson.co.uk/en_GB/support/sc/epson-stylus-d88/s/s525?suggestionClicked=true several others on google search
  21. And where are they going to be parked when shopping, presuming the rider can push/carry the scooter as well as a bag of shopping, plus taking them on a tram/bus? Seems we have problems there.
  22. Presuming they were made legal, what rules could be applied in places such as Hillsborough where the pavement and road are narrow and thronged with pedestrians, buses, trams etc? How would it work?
  23. ok thanks, I'll attend to these suggestions during course of day.
