  1. Does trouble break out there a lot? I am concerned for my relative's safety if that is the case. They only moved there recently.
  2. Just wondered if the trouble had ceased. A relative who lives there very frightened.
  3. Does anyone know what the trouble is on London Road? Gang of lads fighting on Clarke Square. Police cars. Lots of shouting and screaming.
  4. Four Lions filmed on location in and around Tinsley and Wicker. Kebabish is setting for the climax of the film. It's supposed to be at the London Marathon, but the marathon runners are obviously in Sheffield.
  5. The Milestone for me. Great food and excellent service.
  6. I moved away from Sheffield for a few years (can't think why now) and on my return I have discovered a changed city centre and not sure which bars would be good for a couple on a night out who are in their late 40s, but still enjoy partying and bars with a good atmosphere, music and clientele that are not the same age as our children. I like to dress up to go out, so somewhere where I wont feel overdressed would be nice too. All ides welcomed.
  7. Can anyone help me? I am trying to get contents insurance and need to know what the original date of the the building (not the conversion).
  8. First 19 years of my life in Rotherham and then 20 years in Sheffield, followed by a 3 year sentence in Glossop (strange place) and back in Sheffield for a year now. I don't think I will ever leave again!
  9. Weston Park Museum. Went there last week and spent a very pleasant hour or so. If the weather is good you can have a picnic too.
  10. I have also used fixmystreet on numerous occasions to report litter in street, broken glass, grafiti and broken street lights and each time the problem has been rectified within a few days and you receive confirmation of your reported issue and a an email when it has been fixed, or scheduled to be fixed, so that is proof enough to me that the work carried out is as a result of the fixmystreet report. It's not often I praise the council, but in relation to this site they deserve praise.
  11. I went to New York with my partner for his 50th in March. It was my second visit there, but my partner's first and we had a great time. But, be warned. It is a very expensive city to visit. Meals and drinks are expensive and the poor exchange rate makes it even more expensive. The open top bus tour is good value though, as you cabn hop on and off and explore all of the city.
  12. Where are you based? What is the name of your team? Have you approached local businesses?
  13. I don't suppose there is much you can do about it now. I know it's annoying having to be confined to school closure dates for holidays, my son is at sixth form and I have never taken my son out of school for holidays outside of school closures, but if I had done over the years I could have saved a small fortune on holidays. However, I don't suppose we can really complain too much, as we do get over 12 weeks of the year in which to go on holiday with our children. Plus, where would schools draw the line? Would it be OK to allow absence in the last week before end of term or the last 2 weeks and then what about a couple of days the week before that................. you get my drift.....
  14. When I drove over today the sign at Bamforrd definitely said 11 weeks on Snake Pass starting 1st July, but I am sure it said Snake Pass closed before the 11 weeks bit! And then the sign at Mottram said road works starting on 1st July for 9 weeks. I am confused and my head hurts and I'm only littel........ Help!
  15. No. Not if the school has a policy regarding absence outside of school holidays, and that policy states that no leave will be authorised outside of school closure. Presumably when your chld first started at the school they gave you information regarding school policy on absence? If they didn't, they should have, or at least made you aware that the school didn't authorise holidays outside of school closure times. Of course, they should make exceptions for special circumstances, such as bereavement and funerals and most schools are understanding at those times and will authorise absence.
