  1. hi Five! Yes Russell Andrews could ring a bell. Wonderingif he was my neighbour... This is thick but please remember i was only in S5 for about a year and was a young lad... Where was Parson Cross park? is that the same park as the one that the recent skate park project was completed at?? Cheers
  2. that kind of rings a distant bell but its totally feint and i wouldnt think its strong enough to draw any particular links.. Curious though<<<
  3. Anette. This is a VERY long shot but Did you happen to know a young lad by the name of Russell who lived on Pollard Crescent?? Sorry ,things keep coming back to me bit by bit!
  4. I went back there yesterday and it brought back some strong emotions. Also.. what was that notorious pub called that used to stand at the top of Southey Green Road?? Was it called the Magnet by any chance?
  5. Thanks Plain. This could actually be the place im remembering.. But definitely nothing on the bottom part of Southey Green Road as far as you can remember? Where Pollard Avenue meets it? First right if you head up hill away from Ritz bingo hall. there is wasteland there now and im almost certain there was some kind of monkey bump, tarmaccy bicycle thing there when I was about 12/13
  6. OMG.. its really weird because i remember the bumps (nothing as grand as whats there today) but i always remember them being on where i thought they were. Maybe its childhood perception that made the area seem a different size and ive got it muddled up. Its hoing back some years. Can you also tell me where Chaucer School is as if im outside the old Ritz bingo place? I remember going onto the school grounds when i was a child and all i remember was a massive scary pitch black field! We could not see where our feet were lol.
  7. Ok this might sound a bit of a lame description but were there a series of tarmac bumps that appeared quite large? all black in colour? Possibly swings? although i only remember there being bicycle/skateboard bumps there?
  8. Hi Anette. Im not sure. Im racking my brains. There is a big park that is off wordsworth avenue but im sure thats not where the bumps ever were???? It seems too far from where I lived. Im almost certain they were on that right turn as you start at the bottom of southey hill and look up to the top. It might well have been the same place? Does where I mean tally up with you then? On the side road, (Pollard Avenue)Theres a distinctive old iron green lampost right next to where the bumps once were and its all fenced off. Loads of thanks.
  9. Ok... Im going back maybe 15-20 years roughly but does anyone remember the garages at the bottom of Southey Green Road (where it meets Pollard Avenue) to be precise. The garages and surronunding land was apparently council owned and there were council vans using thegarages most times of the day... PWD garages? Not sure if that rings any bells with anyone? My main area of interest is the tarmac humps that were used as a play area for biked and skateboards.. They were known locally as "monkey bumps" On visiting the area recently its sad to see that the monkey bumps have now dissapeared unser piles of waste and vegetation. I spoke to a few locals but I was slightly taken aback when two people said they had lived in the area 20 years and there was never such thing as tarmac bumbs in a play area?? Im really sure they did exist! Does anyone else have any knowledge about the area on the corner of Southey Road where it meets Pollard Avenue? (This is all a stones throw from the now derelict Ritz bingo hall) Thanks guys.
  10. Has anyone else just seen the fantastic introduction to the mens singles tennis final between Federer and Roddick? Its just gave me goosebumps all over! Absolutely fantastic! The music was great. Sorry its not sheffield related but the roof was made in Sheffield lol
  11. flogas... they deliver free from Chesterfield £20 gets you their biggest bottle so compare and see! No deposit catches or tie ins!
  12. Glad im not the only person who saw this idiotic behaviour. In the nicest, nicest friendliest possible way I hope they are ok ,have learned their lesson and never act like eejits again!
  13. I always use private hire even if im out and about. On arrival of the private hire car i will ask the driver what name he has in his computer. If he cant tell me my name i wont get in.. Thats the only way ive got around any problems. The taxi firm i use respect my stance and it helps them. I know my situation is different from yours Carbonundrum and thanks for sharing this . I think its s important for everyone safety that things like this are publicised as there are many nasty tricks these people are likely to try, especially where some one is half cut.
  14. I would doctor but feel a bit crappy going on my own. Im a DUDE lol.. I dont really mind, just thought a few drinks maybe and see who wants to do what.
  15. im from down that way but not heard about this until now.. Is somthing still going on?
  16. Interesting stuff that is Molly. Cant say ive heard that one but i guess im not very likely to anyway... Interested to know more though if anyone has any thing else.
  17. Ive done some enquiries but disheartened because the prices seem to have crept up to £50/ wheel and thats the few places ive rang so far.
  18. I agree with what your saying. I think its wider social influences (mainly fitting in and advanced marketing techniques) that are dividing students into a common group.
  19. I meant to add... I was born and lived here in Sheffield all my life too and proud of my achievements x
  20. I have to say, i was a student not long ago but can proudly declare that i never fitted in with either the random chanting or flip flop trendy wannabee crowd. Lol
  21. Is the police helicopter (thats flying about now)anything to do with the same incident? Hope everyone involved is ok x
