  1. Try Harrisons on Regent Terrace (off West Street). http://www.harrisonsbar.co.uk/
  2. A year or so ago I thought of doing one in and around the bar I used to manage. We had an empty yard next to us and an underused University carpark across the street. Even rattled up a mock poster for it. Unfortunately that's as far as I got with it as I decided to emigrate! Go for it! it does need to be somewhere slightly off the main streets as I think this would add to its charm. However, I also think you would need to administer some sort of quality control, if that was possible. As has been said, you don't want a load of carbooters coming down with odd and sods. I think a mix of independent designers and maybe approaching the antiques centres first could work - although there is a danger of it becoming like a Sharrowvale Market 2 if you don't balance it well. You don't want tables of broken biscuits and end-of-line tupperware boxes. You want curios and small retro items. I visited one in Krakow and that's what gave me the idea for one in Sheffield.
  3. Sheffield has a terrible bar scene. The pub scene takes some beating though.
  4. You appear to have time on your hands, use it productively.
  5. Should be a good night; was down there the other week and it's a decent little gaff.
  6. What the devil has this got to do with Sheffield? But here's my suggestion
  7. I have to say I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the market this year. Quite terrible. £4 for a "spicy" sausage which wasn't remotely spicy, and was advertised as £3.50; Polish beers you can buy in Ozmen's on London Rd; crap disco music blaring out; shoddy little Santa's Grotto. Sausage stall manned by a ropey looking bunch of frauleins off Das Arbourthorne. Council can't surely blame "lack of funds" (I don't know if they have BTW), as they should be recouping these through the costs of putting a stall there. Christ, I could do better at the sausages. We took a couple of guests from out of town round with us and we were ashamed at the standard.
  8. This makes little or no sense, and isn't remotely 'lol'. IMHO anywhere that imposes a dresscode isn't worth going to. Usually full of lairy blokes in crap shirts, shiny shoes and gelled hair.
  9. This is the right answer. It's called Yad's I think.
  10. Cheers ruby. Sat on the 43 wondering if i'll make Dronfield before nightfall... Considering walking at the moment.
  11. All traffic from town being diverted down Woodseats Rd to Abbeydale Rd. Plenty of police around too. Anyone any idea?
  12. I have to say that I find very little wrong with the proposed development. It's not as though the Moor and that part of town is an architectural crown jewel. I may object if there was one to appear on the Peace Gardens or Barkers Pool...but then the planners have more rigorous policies to test the application against in those areas - at a bare minimum the impact on nearby listed buildings and their setting. I doubt there's a listed building within 100 metres of this proposal. I, for one, salute our new advertising overlords
