  1. Estate agents only charge if you need it for probate purposes. If you're having a valuation to give you an idea of what you may get on the open market, have several & ask them for their rates etc to see who does the best deal. Hope this helps.
  2. Worked for Inland Revenue between school & uni, found a scary file about a relative, never said a thing 'cos had to sign The Act. Proper job, after uni, teaching in a secondary school in Berkshire, loathed it, was so bored, moved to Warwickshire & had a whale of a time working for Hilton Hotels.
  3. Used to see a lot of Bobby Campbell until he became primary carer for his wife. I believe he still lives at Bradway.
  4. My 'Other Half', who worked with her a few times, tells me, she was a lovely girl, no 'side' to her whatsoever.
  5. £14,500 in 1978. Paid £1,400 deposit. Next door sold for £225,000 in February. I moved out in 1987, ex other half still lives there, a nice return for the offspring when the ex drops off the perch. lol.
  6. Shropshire is lovely, especially Ludlow, within easy driving distance & has accommodation to suit all budgets.
  7. adelrose, my closest friend joined Slimming World in January & has lost 1.5 stone, looks fabulous & says it's not the regime but the fact that lots of people together, men & women, cheer each other on. I've looked at the "plan" & it appears to me that it cuts out fats & limits bread. So, just good things, don't know how WW works.
  8. I think, that you are asking, shows what a good guy you are, however, I think they are awful. My son, who is now in his 30's, had various tattoos done when he was much younger & really regrets it. He wishes he had the money to have them removed.
  9. Seems to have been sporadic last night, ours was off for only 5 minutes. Have spoken to people this a.m. who live on the next road & had no power for over an hour.
  10. Would it not be better if someone from The Dam House replied to refute or confirm the speculation? Simples. lol.
  11. Hi wornout53, did you leave in 1964, if so we were in the same year at Marlcliffe & like you my mother also went there. Mrs Bennett was my fave, I used to visit her at her home after she retired.
  12. The report of Francis Fearn's case refer to Wadsley Common, not sure where....will try to find out.
  13. There wasn't a gallows on Wadsley Common, but there was a gibbet. In the early 1780's Nathan Andrews was robbed & murdered by Francis Fearn, who was arrested, tried & hanged in York. His body was then returned to the place of his crime (Wadsley Common), a common practice I am told, placed in the gibbet on the Common, where it remained for 14 years. Charming. lol.
  14. Yes, I have been using this dental practice for about 7 years. Previously, I was a real wimp where dentists were concerned, they have gone a long way to restoring my faith, I'm only a semi-wimp now. Give them a try, I think they have 3 dentists & a hygienist. Not sure if they are taking on new patients at the moment, they weren't a few months ago. Give them a call.
  15. Just to say, 5 years ago we took 2 bottles of the luscious stuff to France as a present to a friend of ours who has a restaurant in the south & collects sauces etc. One to taste, one to display, he adored it. So folks there is a little bit of Sheffield in a wine village in the Languedoc.
  16. Ecclesall Woods, particularly on the right of Abbeydale Road going towards Totley.
  17. Nigel Francis, we have enjoyed your excellent "Magic" several times and have been to many "do's" at The Omega over the last 30 years. Sadly, the last time we went the food was not of the usual standard, lamb was over cooked and chewy and the entree was inedible. We were very surprised, particularly when the service was not to the standard we had previously experienced.
  18. Thanks to you all for the really helpful replies.
  19. Chipolata sausages with tinned Cirio tomatoes, home baked bread to soak up the juice. Slices of home baked ham with mash & cheese sauce with masses of white pepper. My absolute favourite my Auntie's roast beef, cooked really rare, (as opposed to my lovely Mum, who insisted on cremating all meat) we ate it with seasoned Yorkshire Pud & the most delicious gravy, which sadly I have never been able to recreate. Always loved my Nan's meat pies cooked in the oven at the side of the fire.
  20. Hi rmjohns2, Just done it........Download 1016Kbps...... Upload 208Kpbs. Fine for us. I know quite a few people in Totley have either BT or Sky. Depends what you want. Hope that's of help. Sorry forgot to mention max with TT is 4.
  21. Talk Talk. Originally signed up when it was Tiscali. We have the whole package... Broadband, TV & Telephone. Have read of people in other parts of Sheffield expressing dissatisfaction with TT.... we've never had a problem.... with them 4 years. Hope this helps.
  22. Thanks for your reply, will have a look at FB.
  23. I recently posted on "Going out in Sheffield" section & having had no response think I should probably have posted here. Does anyone have details for a baker/cake maker who can do a large Gluten Free Birthday Cake for a 30th later this year? Many thanks.
  24. I need a Birthday Cake making which has to be Gluten Free, large enough for 80/90 to have a small piece. We are working on the design, it will be of the novelty variety & is for a 30th (Male) later in the year. Please can anyone recommend a cake maker. Thanks
