  1. Does anyone remember Mr Morris he had two daughters Diane & Janet, if memory serves. They lived in the left hand side of a pair of semis nearly opposite the bottom of Coldwell Lane. This would be '63/'64. I didn't go to Lydgate, but used to catch the Circular bus from Malin Bridge on a Saturday morning to spend 2 hours doing Maths with him. Oh joy! At least it got me through the 11+.
  2. Any one who is interested in having a stall at Totley Farmers Market/Summer Fair please p.m. me your email address & I will send you a Booking Form. It's Sunday 22nd July. Our first event in April was such a success, we would like to have more stalls this time. Many thanks.
  3. They serve a full menu. It's Greene King & reopened late last year after a total refurb.
  4. The next Farmers' Market is Sunday July 22nd, same venue, 12-4pm. Hope those who missed the last one are able to join us.
  5. Sorry you didn't find out about it lisejacko. There was a poster in The Hare & also in the Greengrocers. It was also very kindly promoted by Eat Sheffield, Appetite & Lyndsay at PostCode Gazette. We will look at other venues for the next one. Hope you can come to it.
  6. Unfortunately the cheese stall owner who had booked a pitch cancelled, due to ill health, early Sunday morning. We will make sure there is one next time. Sorry.
  7. It went very well indeed, despite the very chilling wind, loads attended & spent their hard earned cash. Great feedback from the stallholders. Further Markets planned. Watch this space. Thank you for your interest.
  8. Sunday, 15th April, Totley Rise (where the Post Office is) 12-4pm. Come and support The Farmers Market/Spring Fair, a new event for Totley.
  9. Totley is having its first Farmers' Market on 15th April, not as big as Nether Edge, might be worth a visit.
  10. Think it's being taken on by the same company who reopened The Millhouses, at least I was told that this was going to happen by one of the Company Execs. Whether this has happened yet, I'm unaware.
  11. Totally agree, if I buy a whole fish, be it trout, bream, sole, salmon & whichever way I cook it, poaching, roasting mostly, I always leave it intact. I think it makes for a fuller taste. Much the same as meat cooked on the bone.
  12. I was born on '53 & the Doll's Hospital my dolls went to was on Fiztalan Square.
  13. Not sure what time they open, food is served 12 to 9.
  14. Hi verona, Not sure about any deals, but there were well behaved children attending last night.
  15. Brilliant night at The Millhouses tonight, food was exceptional, lovely to see Carol Baines at the helm. Open tomorrow for a drink, sandwich or three course meal. I wish them loads of luck, ok, it is more expensive than several other pubs close by which serve food, but cheaper than The Prince of Wales, Cross Scythes or Cricket which have similar food & drink it's on a bus route. Will be back.
  16. We had a my son's 30th there in September. No charge for room hire, we used the Conservatory & the lower half of the eating area. Approx 60 of us, a really good night.
  17. Verona, Millhouses taste testing menu this next week with staff, chef etc. Then will be opening end of next week.
  18. Likely to be the end of next week, according to the new licensee.
  19. 1976, in the middle of Birmingham, can't remember the name or what I had to eat, can remember being totally hooked from that moment on. A muso boyfriend took me, it was very late, he didn't finish his set until 1.00am, so if I remember correctly it was 2.00am before we started to eat, 4.30am when I arrived home & up for work the next morning. Ah youth, Happy Days.
  20. Hi Verona, Sorry if i was confusing, licensee certainly moving in on Wednesday, not sure when it will be open (probably the following week) & yes food will be available. No details about the beer yet.
  21. The new licensee moves in next Wednesday (2nd Nov). Opening "do" probably the following week.
  22. Hello, I want to buy Rib of Beef, 3 to 4 Ribs worth. Can anyone suggest the best butchers in S8, S11, S17, S18. Thank you.
  23. Hi jstarr, Yes I remember "Lord dismiss us....". Truly Miss Lucas was the scariest person. When I was in th Upper 6th, she stopped me in the corridor, marched me into the office & tied my hair into bunches with STRING. "How dare your parents send you to school with all that flapping around your face, it is unhygienic & dangerous" I was mortified. Happy days.
  24. Stamen, imho, you are quite right. I looked at this year's A level papers in Maths, English, French, German and Physics and could have "walked them" at15. It is a sad case of "dumbing down" by the Government to make them look good, make our children feel good and then slap them down when they can not get a job. I think it is tragic.
  25. No, 1066, I was on the General Course, North Wing in the 1st year & then in the new blocks at the top of the drive after that.
