  5. Hi, I was under the impression that caponising (castrating) cockerals was now illegal.We always had a capon at xmas when I was a kid but not seen them for sale in recent years.

I stopped using this take away a few months ago,It changed hands and the food was not as nice as was.in fact it was crap,so they lost my custom and I am not willing to try them again to spend 20 quid to sling it in the bin.the delivery lad was very pleasant though.China Cuisine on Middlewood Rd get my custom now.

Mossdog I have no connection what so ever to "curry" take away, I am just thankful to have a decent take away at Stannington after all the two chippys arnt brilliant.I have not used them for long enough and now travel to Grenoside for quality fish and chips at a decent price after Ive called in the Harrow for a pint.After having a couple of take aways and a sit down meal from Rajput I find the onions they put in their curries are always tough and under cooked...may be its just me but every ones different.
  12. we have had another meal from there tonight,had it delivered....no complaints.in fact prefered it to the curry I had at Rajput restaurant on xmas eve. Give it a try,if you dont like dont go back.....like I wont be going back to the rajput.
  13. prices not bad,onion bhaji...1.95,usual curries from £5.30 up to about £7. we will go again.its open 7 days a week from 5.30 till 11pm.
  14. Yes had a take away on Monday night, really enjoyed it,Staff pleasant and food good.Lets hope they keep it up.
  15. Sorry Lakerman, I cant remember the rest of the poem it seemed to go on forever,the Central library on Surrey Street may have it. I think they might have helped Clarice get it published.Also the Rivelin Conservation group might be able to help. A chap called Keith Kendall used to come and chat with Clarice about her poems and the local history which most of her poems were based on.

Some friends booked and went a couple of days ago for the carvery, they had run out of meat except gammon,when they asked if they could bring more meat out the answer was a firm "NO".there was very little veg and it was cold.Customers where taking their meals back for them to be microwaved other were asking for their money back.plus it had gone up two quid from before...think I will give it a miss.

I live just past these cameras and have never seen them work, I was also told that speed cameras have to be placed on roads that have street lighting, not for the cameras to work ,but for drivers to see the signs and the camera, as there is no street lighting a fine would not be enforceable by law, this may not be true though.

  21. I went in a couple of weeks ago, the place was filthy,I was tempted to contact environmental health people but then heard they had already paid them a visit.

Penistone fur and feather market closed down a few yrs ago,there is a poultry auction at Holmefirth cattle market on a Thursday evening weekly starts at 6pm.there is also a fur and feather auction at Highgate Greyhound track at Goldthorpe every Saturday sale starts about 10am. you have to register at their offices for a free bidding number which you keep for return visits.Both these are on Face book.
