I appreciate that there are clearly some issues regarding the new system, however, it is so wrong, on every level, that someone should be 'better off' claiming benefits over working. I welcome anyone on benefits to (attempt) to reasonably argue their right to get more benefits than a typical working person/family.

Does anyone know if you can plug in 2 sets of the wireless singstar mics into the PS2 - i.e 4 mics? I know each set of 2 mics comes with a usb recepter and the PS2 has 2 usb ports, but is the console and game compatible with 4 mics? Thanks

Cashback on Redemption - Mobile Phones - Any Experiences?
fierysatsuma replied to adambaz's topic in General Discussions
Hi Sorry to bring this old thread back to life! I am looking at a contract, £25quid a month, top of range phone, with cash back redemption meaning contract over 24 months is in fact £12.50. 400 mins talk, unlimited text, unlimited internet - sounds too good to be true! Whats the catch? Is there one - or is it simply that they expect people to forget to make their cashback claims and therefore with a low claim rate they can afford to offer it? Thanks Matt -
Thanks for all your comments and recommendations. I think I've dropped the idea of the iphone and in fact am torn now between the Samsung Galaxy S and the Sony xperia x10. I'd appreciate any feedback from any x10 owners as I seem to be swaying towards this phone - even thought the Samsung (just) beats it on reviews. Have you upgraded from the 1.6 to the 2.1? Did it make much difference - speed, interface etc.? Can you use it in the car as an mp3 player like the iphone/ipod - i.e. through your car stereo? Thanks

Hi, I'm ready for a new phone and really fancy an i-phone (although it would probably be the 3GS not the newest I4). I'm wanting something for internet, apps etc. what do forumers prefer - i-phone or other OS - is the Android OS a very good/close second best? Many thanks Matt

I bought a PC 3 years ago and due to problems had to format my hard disk. XP was pre-installed, I have the licence/sticker, is it possible to get it/download it from Microsoft for free (or subject to a nominal fee)?

Been having probs.... to cut a long story short, had to format pc, left now with linux and a copy of a 60 day vista trial, which has expired. If I buy one of the many full OEM versions of Vista from Ebay, will I simply be able to install it thus removing the trail and linux? Many thanks

Any vets/cat experts online? concerned re kitten
fierysatsuma replied to fierysatsuma's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
Spoke to Abbey vets, they suggest cat flu. As she had her first injection before the weekend, is it like human (flu) vaccination i.e. injected with a dose of flu. Is cat flu treatable? -

Any vets/cat experts online? concerned re kitten
fierysatsuma replied to fierysatsuma's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
She's eating/drinking, but only a little. she has soft poo, averaging 3 to 4 times daily, in her litter box. when we practically force her out of her bed, she will, for a short time, chase some string around, then its back to bed. -

Thanks for all the advice, the rescue centre had only had her a week, so didn't really get to know her, she was quiet and quite shy when we visited her, she has also had some/her jabs only last Friday, not sure if that has had an impact in her 'mood'. -

Hi, Got a kittne/cat from a rescue centre, Had her a couple of days now, she's 5 month old, she's very very quiet, sleeps most of the time, seems quite lathergic when handled, not eating too much, is this normal given? I was expecting her to be pinging off the walls! Is she just 'settling in'? Thanks -
Cats scratching furniture advice reqd
fierysatsuma replied to fierysatsuma's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
sorry, just realised there are other posts. ignore this one.. -
Got a kitten on its way, just wondered if those sprays you can use on furniture/curtains etc, such as, "scratch no more" actually work. It would appear they are citrus scented which aparently cats don't like. Is there any particular 'brand' anyone uses that they would recommend? Thanks

Indemnity insurance for artchitects question
fierysatsuma replied to fierysatsuma's topic in General Discussions
However, when the fault becomes aparent, at some time in the future, it would be the insurer who was on risk at that time in the past, when, for exampe, the said architect was negligent - i.e. inspected and signed off some building work and not a present or potential future insurer. Unless of course, architect indemnity insurance works completely different to all other or certainly most other indemnity/liability insurance. -
Does anyone know anything about professional indemnity insurance for architects? Are you an Architect with insurance? do you sell/advice on this type of insurance? Is an architect required to maintain an indemnity policy even after he is deceased (for 6 years) - would future liabilities pass on to a next of kin? My initial thoughts are; i) insurance cannot be taken out/renewed in respect of a deceased person ii) liability rests an dies with the policy holder (this case is in respect of an individual not a business) and iii) why should the policy be kept for a further 6 years for potential claims/liabilities - surely, from my experience of insurance and the law the policy in force at the time of the alleged past negligent act would cover any future claim. Would love to hear views from anyone who deals with this specific type of insurance, or if you are a member of the institute of architects. Thanks.

Got rid of daughter overnight on Saturday, cant arrange anything overseas due to Friday and Monday work comittments, any idea where me and the current Mrs Fiery can go for a wonder - Is Liverpool or Newcastle worth a drive? Looking for somewhere to have a wonder round during daylight, a nice restaurant and a bar or 3 on an evening. Anywhere that I can 'reasonably' drive to first thing Saturday morning considered. Cheers

Laptop not reading booting from hdd
fierysatsuma replied to fierysatsuma's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
Not BIOS not recognising Hard Drive, it did yesterday - booted up and asked for a windows password (set by previous owner), now it doesn't boot up anymore. Do you think its worth trying another hdd in it (buying a cheap one of ebay)? or could the connections inside the laptop be faulty? Cheers -
Hi, I have an old laptop recently purchased second hand for my daughter, there is a problem booting up, basically, it won't! I am trying to install Windows or Ubunto on it by breaking/stopping the boot up and running from my cd, but again, it wont! saying "setup did not find a hard drive on your computer", tried unplugging the hdd and back in again - dusty contacts etc but still nothing. Any ideas? Its an old pc with Windows 2000, not sure if its a hardware problem as opose to software! Cheers

Free school trips for unemployed
fierysatsuma replied to fierysatsuma's topic in General Discussions
We will send her, next year in her last year before she moves up to secondary school, but the point is, other children, in her class get to go, irrelevant of the cost. I understand that as long as 'enough' children are going on trips, it pays for those who dont send their kids to school with the money. ie. I was once waiting to pick up my daughter from school, on a day when money was due for a day trip, I remember a couple of mothers talking amoungst themselves saying that as long as enough people pay, there kids will go for free and therefore they should 'resist' from paying. When schools ask for money for trips now, they hav to ask for a 'voluntary' contribution' as they cannot insist on payment (but the trip will be cancelled if not enough people pay), there are alsays going to be those who are happy to pay, me usually, to give my daughter the best opportunity in school. -
I have my vista cd which I beleive I can install on another machine. I also have my original XP which Ino longer use on my existing pc. In any event, I do have an OS on CD I can use.
