  1. I think there's more to Sheffield than Henderson's Relish.
  2. It annoys me that the DVLA are flogging all our data to unreputable companies.
  3. Bloody hell fox20thc, you're right! Howd the thread get back towards the top of the list? Thought it was new. Lesson learnt, I'll check the date of the original post next time. Doh. Well at least the links are there for other parents to look at.
  4. Take a look at these websites DannyBoy, hope they help. http://www.ace-ed.org.uk/advice/booklets/Appealing.html http://www.communitylegaladvice.org.uk/en/search/index.jsp?search=School%20admissions%20policy&topicid=5469
  5. I stopped going to KFC long ago. Doesn't matter which you go to, they are always so slow, takes forever to get served. Just an aknowledgment that you are there and they will be with you in a minute would be good, but they don't even give you that courtesy. And I always used to say "NOT TOASTED" for the wraps, but then they would always toast it. Don't they speak English? I agree with Valentine - the one opposite Sheffield Arena is definately the worst, always filthy, slow even if you're the only one in there.
  6. Thanks SlowProgress and scottf. They look exactly like the speed camera ones, thank goodness that's not what they're for then. Cheers.
  7. Has anybody noticed the speed camera "poles" that seem to be springing up all over? I can only speak about the north/east end of Sheffield - I've noticed several around Attercliffe and Darnall: Saville Street near the Royal Mail depot Sheffield/Attercliffe Road near the Porsche and Merc dealers Attercliffe Road opposite Ice Sheffield Greenland Road just above the Arena So far, its only the bases that have appeared, no yellow boxes on top yet. Does anybody know if these are going to be parmenant speed camera sites? I have a suspicion that they will have one of those yellow camera boxes that is detachable from its base, and they will move it around putting it on the different bases. What strikes me though, is that none of them seem to be on stretches of road that are particularly dangerous. I can't remember any major accidents being reported in the press at any of these sites? Aren't they only meant to put them in places to prevent accidents now? Cheers folks. PS I'd be interested to know if anybody has spotted them anywhere else.
  8. I'm very sure I saw a red squirrel in August last year near Meadowhall. I nearly ran over it at the bottom of Jenkin Road as I turned right onto Meadowhall Road. It just jumped out into the road from banked area next to the River Don. I knew reds were rare so I though I'd report it to the Ecological Unit at the Council and Sheffield Wildlife Trust. I did get a reply, but it was just dismissed as a case of mistaken identity. They even emailed me an information sheet about reds and greys (message me if you want a copy, I can forward it to you). I think it was wrong to insist it could not have been a red though (I was told they would only live in an area of evergreen trees, but Sheffield is mainly deciduous trees). After looking at a few pictures of reds, I was even more convinced that it was a red.
  9. :DMy first post - wahooo! I don't believe Sheffield Council are running out of grit. Apparently all the other councils across the country are, but I reckon Sheffield Council have stockpiled a mountain of the stuff, and when all the other councils have completely run out they going to sell it to them. Knowing our dosy council they would be selling it at a loss though.
