  2. Who was the Guy that did a version of Strangers on the shore using was it teaspoons or casstanetts, dont know how you spell that, in place of the clarinett but this version got to number 186 in the charts in 1967. I think the fellows stage name was Troubwood Burkinshawe. Any help on this would be appreciated. Apparently 1n 1967 Paul McCartney who was in a group called The Beatles heard it & he recalls that it inspired him to write the song When Ime 64

  7. Crap book. Crap radio series. Crap TV series. Dead clever but crap at the same time. Film! If its like the others I will hate it. Huuu! Give me strength.

  9. 1976. From Impuse, on Cambridge Street. The Beatles. Rubber Soule. I was 19 at the time & never got in to The Albert Pub. What was that pub like?
  10. Been round Ecclesall & Hunters bar millions of time for the past 20 odd years. Never ever ever been in any trouble. 20 minuets in Pittsmoore, yes its the pitts, & i get the beef. Discuss. I am not making this up. See early thread. Oh . Do not go at night. Good luck.
  11. Just strike up a conversation. Does not have to be heavy or profound No chat up lines are needed. You will both know if something is going to happen. Keep an easy going, non threatening, friendly feel about it all. Thats how I got my ''other half''. Good luck
  12. Yeah! I live in Dronfield. Its not posh. Its just very pleasent & safe. Me woman lives at Wybourn. Not posh. where she lives absolutely no trouble, every one really nice. Lots of houses bought from former council tenants. Really good. Oh & yes I am crap at spelling but the aim in writing is to communicate. The thing about spelling is a Victorian fetish about rules & regimentation. Scholars from centuries before were not by todays standards did not spell ''correctly''.
  13. Can anyone tell me who is Hunter S Thompson is & what is this person famouse or notorious for? Never heard of this person.
  14. Jake. Cask & CUTLER Fat Cat Hillsborough Hotel Gardeners Rest New Barrack Tav Red Lion Rutland & some others No trouble. No chavs. Great palceses, people. Great beer, great times. Need I say more? Oh! Classic Rock Bar. Please resurface very soon. Truly Classic.
  15. What have the above threads got to do with no go areas. Boring & pointless. I think we have identified the no go areas. Lets then just have some tales about what happens in these dogey areas. Ime ok, I live in Dronfield. Thank god!
  16. Thanks Boy face. I know both The Rutland & Red Lion very well. Great boozers in a sea of lagers bars. So the new union is basicaly a lager bar? Thanks for the info. I wont be going
  17. I have heard that the doomed Pop music centre is now the new union headquarters for Sheffield Hallam University. I have heard on the radio that the union is opening today & also non students are allowed in. Any one been in yet? What beer is available at the bar? Any real ale? I need to know!
  18. Want some where vibrant? Ok! Meet in Cannon about 7.00pm. Knockout!
  19. DO NOT! go Pittsmoore, burngreave or Darnall especialy at night. Been there in the day time twice. Got chased out twice. ''Hey who are you? what you doin here''? Me. ''I am gong to EWB auctioneers off Carlisle street''. ''No you are not you are here causing trouble'' Me. Run for bus with two of them chasing me down towards the 75 or is it 76 bus stop. Now I will never go to that sink of an area again. So you think I am frightened. TOO BLOODY RIGHT I AM. I went to the police about this & they had absolutley no sympathy what so ever. PATHETIC waste of tax payers money.
  20. Get a copy of Sheffield then & now. Look at the most supreme buildings that have been puled down, by the infinite wisdom of the powers that be. Looks what has taken their place. Alwaysdescribed as , '' vibrant or excitng or unique''. Very, for me , ugly.
  21. I support a ban on hunting, but I seem to disstrust & disslike the anti hunt brigade even more. Their favourite phrase is Fascist or class war & they go for the ''Toffs''. I dont know. Lots of the red coats I have seen are working class. The people in the fields, are they called beaters? are most certainly working class. The anti hunt people are a class war thing & are to be disstrusted. Once again. I think fox hunting is vile. I think people who want to go & chase, torture & kill & rip these creatures apart is horrific. These two groups seem to like this their own sport. This nowt s qeer as folk, disscus??????
  22. Dear Carmine. You are a star. I hope you are not winding me up. For many many years I have dreamt of such a film being made. Good! its not Hollywood. A small company? I bet this is going to be by far more superiour to the Hollywood versions. I cant believe an attempt at the book version has never been made before.
  23. I wish they would make a faithful production as close as possible to the original H.G.Wells book. I wonder if the invaders machines float, as in the 1950s film or as in the original book are walking tripod machines. The original book is set in Victorian / Edwardian Britain, which for me gives it a really unusual quality. Cant stand it. Everything set in U.S. with perfect smile white teeth glamour Hollywood actors. Or am I just jealouse?
  24. And most of them are just ugly as sin. Welcome to legofield
