  1. When I was quite small (probably about 6 years old) we lived at what was called the Clarion Ramblers club house on Hathersage Road just about opposite the end of Sheephill Road. The timber building isn't there, just a small holding if I'm correct. Anyway, one day I suffered some nasty cuts to my ankle, loads of blood everywhere, and my dad, who was ill with Silicosis had to hurry down to the Door Moor Inn to phone for an ambulance. When they came a police car also attended and told my mum and dad that they could and should have used the emergency phone on the outside of the police box just up the road from the house. It would have meant smashing the glass, and the sign said " for emergency use only " or words to the effect, and they didn't think about using it.
  2. Never had a kebab and probably never will.
  3. They might be in the Sheffield archives which is on Shoreham Street, not far from the railway station.
  4. I used to visit the ground when it was Balfour's sports ground. It was always well maintained. I knew the stewards and their son quite well, and my brother in law also did quite a bit of work on the grounds.
  5. He/she/whatever has some serious problems J, it must be terrible to be like that!
  6. The owner of Direct Cars entered a secret auction, he had to bid for the elephant without knowing what the other bids were, to get it. As you rightly say, the money went to The Children's Hospital Charity.
  7. I could send you some pictures!
  8. Direct Cars showroom, Waterthorpe, Sheffield
  9. Good question Pattricia, I don't know either!
  10. I get out plenty thank you buddy, and talk to people, not just keyboard warriors and no-one has said they won't visit the centre of the city because of the bus gate...fact. You obviously have contact with different people to me.
  11. I don't know anyone who has said that they won't visit the city centre because there's a bus gate.
  12. This bus gate has been that well publicised on several news media, has an absolute myriad of sinage and been discussed to death on here that there's no excuse for ignoring it, and therefore getting a fine in the process. It's not a farce at all, it's fact and who are all these citizens who are scared to venture into town because of it? Details please.
  13. Which supermarkets do you shop at Irene,? Waitrose? It's the same food just at higher prices.
  14. I get what you are saying now I've read it again...wish I could have edited my post. Apologies
  15. Not in my case, he isn't correct...so must be wrong!
  16. Yes,it's in several products including spreads.
  17. It's definitely not like peas. I'm just reading the ingredients on the tub of Vitalite spread....Rape seed, sustainable Palm oil and Sunflower oil. I know it's not 'margarine ' as we used to know it, but it's something similar.
  18. Am I understand this correctly.....there are and have been many complaints and comments about the volume of traffic and driving standards to do with the roundabout at Meadowhead and the new sports stadium, and now they are compounding all this by having a festival at Lowedges. Well, whatever next.
  19. Many people do! A lot of it is used to make 'spreads' that used to be called margarine.
  20. You are wrong there. My electricity smart meter is in my kitchen, it's in the original meter cupboard from when the house was built. I thought you would have known things like that.
  21. There are many hundreds of acres of food grown and wasted because the 'government ' are paying fit but idle scroungers to stay at home rather than getting them to ern their money. If all the current (no pun) crops were harvested maybe there would be plenty of space to plant "break" crops.
  22. Was the houses originally built by Hodkin and Jones, the builders/merchants? There is a row of similar along Queens Road where Hodkin and Jones used to be
