  1. Alex - there are shops in meadowhall taking staff on and the indeed website has quite a few jobs listed at the moment. What sort of thing are you looking for? Steve roberts - just be thankful you are not looking for work at the moment!
  2. This is such a good idea. Does cinnamon work with organisations or is it just individuals that go to them for help?
  3. It isn't just speaking that is taught, language is learnt through reading, writing listening and speaking. TEFL is the method used to teach English to students in foreign countries by native English speakers, they are employed all over the world and in English language academies in this country, the university also uses the TEFL method to teach foreign students. It does seem strange at first to not be able to speak the students language but it really does work, teaching grammar is very important but you teach it in a way which is appropriate to your students level, as they progress in their language acquisition they are able to understand more complex tenses etc.
  4. No you do not have to be able to speak the language of your students, you immerse them in English and they learn much more quickly!
  5. TEFL is teaching English as a foreign language. I am qualified to teach any level. I was wondering if anyone else had done this and managed to find private students.
  6. Hi,any advice is welcome. I have recently qualified as a TEFL teacher, but need to work in the UK at the moment. How would I go about getting private students? Are the any good places to advertise? Thanks
  7. I have sent you a message with pet sitters no.
  8. Hi, I really don't know what you can do, sounds like a difficult situation, I used to be a careworker and saw some people in some unbelievable states but social services were aware of it and did nothing. Maybe try getting in touch with rethink ( used to be mind) they can probably give you some good advice. I think you are great for being so concerned, I hope the poor man gets the help and care he needs.
  9. try st vincents furniture store or one of the hostels or the archer project. i think the people having to sleep on the streets maybe colder than the dogs that have a roof over their heads
  10. It sounds an awful situation, please get in touch with shelter, they are really good and will be able to give you advice. Is there anyone you could stay with in the meantime or could you talk to the landlord of your new place and explain your situation, they may be able to help.
  11. I think that it is ok to do that, what sort of contract do you have with her? If everything is paid up then you have done what you should and she has asked you to leave in Feb anyway so she shouldn't have a problem. She is lucky to have such a considerate tenant, it sounds like she thought it would be a good way to get some money but her sons health has made the situation hard for all of you.
  12. Thankyou! That is really helpful advice. I will look into the things you have suggested and check out some of the craft fairs. It is a really good point to be a professional business rather than just a hobbyist. Thanks again.
  13. Thanks for your replies! Do you think selling on line is more profitable, or just that craft businesses don't really work for making money? I would love to set up my own business but really can't afford to waste the time and money if there isn't really a market for crafts at the moment!
  14. Does anyone on here earn their living from crafting? There seem to be many craft fairs advertised on here and I know you can sell stuff online. Is it a viable business? Roughly how much do people make at craft fairs?
