  1. Thanks Ghozer, you are likely spot on. Very helpful post.
  2. Hi All, I'm doing up a property in Heeley and would like to keep as many original features as possible. Most of the houses on the road have nice matching original metal gates, whereas ours has been replaced with a cheap wooden one! Does anyone know where I would have a chance of finding one of these reclaimed or similar for sale in Sheffield? It doesn't need to match of course, just of same styling to add some character back. House built early 1900's so not feeling overly confident. Any advice on where to look appreciated.
  3. Thanks for the 'shameless gossip', went past last night and saw the road shut off by police cars and the blue and white tape all round the Sheaf as I passed by this morning. I assumed it was violence related, glad it's not, such a good pub!
  4. Ha! Sorry to disappoint. Whilst your here... Know anything about Honda's??!
  5. I have a '98 Honda Civic... Nothing Fancy! It's Revs idle low at a stand still. This means that first thing in the morning when the engines cold if I take my foot off the accelerator and let the revs drop the car often cuts out. Once the car has warmed up after driving for 5 minutes the revs still idle low at a stop but it does not cut out. I had a guy come and give me a jump start when I left my lights on once and he just turned a screw or something under the hood and put the revs to the correct idle. When I had my MOT though I told them and this was put back as it failed on emissions.. As it turned out this was down to pepper holes in my exhaust which has now been replaced and not the guy turning the screw (or whatever he did!) under the hood. Any ideas on whats causing the low idle revs and can anyone recommend a good contact to get it sorted/fixed for me? Thanks!
  6. I found myself in this bus lane whilst following sat nav, as I approached I did notice the bus lane sign but due to high levels of traffic I was not able to change lanes without being dangerous. As soon as I realised I was heading into it I turned around and headed out and I did not use it for access. This was evident on the Whickers camera's footage. Some people do not enter the lane thinking 'sod it, I'll risk it'. I bet hotphil would change his tune pretty quick if he was in a city he didn't know and it happened to him. I contested the bill and they accepted it as a genuine mistake, yet were not able to raise the fine.
  7. Yeah, good suggestion. Cheers to Sheffbag, I'll milk it for what it's worth!!
  8. Yeah i considered Virgin, I'm sure like me in Heeley you get 10 Virgin flyers through the door each week?!! Just phoned talktalk, nothing they can do to help apparently to get me up and running any quicker. I wonder if they have already started their monthly direct debits?!
  9. Thanks zongamin. So they tell you on the phone that their ultimate goal is to beat BT in every way, yet they depend upon them?! Mad.
  10. So it's looking like I'm going to have to wait 4 more weeks then? I just don't understand why you would wait that long for it when I now have a phone line up and running?! Surely it's a case of get the router and off you go?
  11. Well, that's inspired faith thanks Duncan!!
  12. Hi all, I've just bought my first house in Heeley and shopped around abit for Phone/Broadband packages. TalkTalk seemed to come out on top over BT and the likes so I pay £60 and have my line installed, which after 3 weeks happened this morning. I then call them up asking when my modem, etc will arrive for the broadband and was informed that it arrives 10 days before the broadband is activated... Which isn't for another 4 weeks!! I work from home so this is costing me big. Anyone had a similar experience and know any ways of getting them to pull their socks up and get it done sooner?! The woman I spoke to said that the 4 weeks wait avoids me being charged £15.. So I offer to pay £15 there and then, yet they can't actually do that either?! I hope this is not the sign of things to come. Any helpful advice is appreciated.
  13. I live on Delf Street, Heeley. I'm away from home. Anyone know if my basements going to be flooded?!
  14. I have a steep drive. Each time I get home everyone observes out of the window to see if I fall. 3 times so far... and counting.
