  1. I know, I know, it is a near impossible ask. I've been watching the matches at home, but on Saturday I have precommited to a meal out just before the England match. As such if I want to see the match I'll have to watch it somewhere in the city centre. Everywhere I looked is already booked up. So if anyone has any suggestions of pubs I may not have thought of, or pubs that had seating free during the last game, it would be very appreciated.
  2. I seem to remember I was given a £25 fine for not getting back to my car in time, but that seems quite low. It looks like the city uses the same company for on street parking, how much was your ticket when you got caught?
  3. Just to follow up, we used JBradleybz AKA Jon Bradley on here, and he was great. He was punctual, got the job done quickly, charged less than a previous quote and did a very thorough job. Will be using him again.
  4. Hi all, My mother had a boiler service and the boiler passed absolutely fine, however it needed a 3-way central heating valve replacement as the valve was sticking, making a buzzing noise and the heating is not coming on. The hot water is fine. We were quoted £150 and told it was a four hour job. This was for one of the cheaper valves, because she is now selling the house. Unfortunately the chap who did the boiler and quoted for us has disappeared off the face of the earth (and I paid him upfront, so if he doesn't find it in him soon to respond to me I will be naming and shaming on this forum, where we found him), so we are looking for somebody else who can come this week. I'll need to see some good positive feedback/credentials etc as sadly the above experience has left us a little sensitive to potentially being ripped off. thanks
  5. Need one for a day or so as it's quite moist in my kitchen and we are painting.
  6. Thanks, I have a strong suspicion this is actually what was being referenced, not Scientology
  7. Don't worry I'm not planning on joining them I discovered yesterday that some of my relatives were Scientologists in the 70s/80s and my mother informed me for a long time there was a Church of Scientology just off Abbeydale Road (Near-ish to where the Pizza Hut is now). I don't ever remember seeing such a place, can anyone confirm that there indeed was one there at some time?
  8. Armed robbery at the post office. Two guys, one of them got away but the shop owners and several brave customers managed to pin down the other guy. From what I can tell the only person who got hurt was the robber.
  9. Merry Xmas everyone Does anyone know of any gyms open tomorrow that would let me buy a one day pass? My gym is closed tomorrow and I want to make a head start burning the mince pies off
  10. There is a big film crew between one of the side roads between Lees Hall Avenue and Lees Hall Road in S8 (near Coneygree Woods). Been there a few days filming at one of the houses. Anyone know what they are filming?
  11. Does anyone know of any companies that mass print books near Sheffield? A colleague of mine has written a book which was printed in the US, he is about to do his second run and wants to find somewhere closer to home.
  12. Yep, bit of a random one this. Some boxing gyms have equipment attached to punch bags to measure punching power, does anyone know of any in Sheffield that have these? I want to measure my punch, then see how much I can improve it (I do boxing, recreationally, at the gym). Before anyone suggests it, no I dont want to use one of those fairground jobbies, I want to use something scientific and proving.
  13. Viraaj is hands down the best Indian resteraunt I have been to, it also looks very nice inside and the customer service is second to none. My missus was not a big fan of curries at all, in fact it was very rare we ever went to Indian resteraunts, and it is now her favourite resteraunt locally (or at least a tie with Beijing City). The buffet nights were good, havent tried tapas yet, their chicken satuki is amazing. Not paid to say it, dont work there or own it, it is the best resteraunt in sheffield and the best indian resteraunt ever.
  14. I was looking at starting with a new dentist in the S8 area anyway, but today I chipped a tooth and its hurting my tongue when I talk, so thats pretty much guaranteed Im going to one tomorrow. Can anyone recommend a good dentist in or around the S8 area? I am looking for a long term dentist, but with chipping the tooth I need to see someone tomorrow who willl hopefully be able to file it down.
  15. Hey everyone I saw a flyer recently for a dog groomer that was based on Norton Park Road (or avenue, I get confused) but I've lost it, does anyone know who I am looking for? cheers
  16. Hi all, I have a pile of big cardboard boxes I need to throw out, preferrably somewhere where they can get recycled. They are pretty big so some of the bottle bank sized cardboard recycling things in supermarkets might not work. I live near graves park. Any suggestions? There is the tip on blackstock road but you need to book in advance and I wanna do it today if possble. cheers
  17. My letting agents for the house I rent are the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with and have a string of !!!! ups over the last year. The landlord is now selling the house and twice in the last week someone has come round unannounced expecting to be shown round after the letting agents told them to come round(Yes they want the previous tenant to sell the house for them, rather than coming to do it themselves). Having complained and lost my rag at them before, I know they will do NOTHING in response. I want to know who their regulatory body is and how I make a complaint about them, so the next time they !!!! up I can threaten to take it to their regulator not them. Anyone know who Im looking for/what I need to do?
  18. They did, they took his details down and sent two separate reports, one to the council and one to the police. They said incidents like this are happening a lot since scrap metals value has gone up.
  19. Incidently, my dog never growls at anyone and he went nuts at this guy......good boy.
  20. Yes, I just spoke to the police and they said it was most likely a scrap metal man who is just stealing metal from peoples garden, because the price of scrap metal has gone through the roof. So most likely he was a robber but only for metal thankfully.
  21. Just got back from walking my dog, I live in a terrace on Harvey Clough Road. Just ahead of me a man emerges from one back yard wearing a illuminous workmans vest and he walks into my back yard, which is also three other houses back yards. He didnt see me follow him in, he walked to the end where my last neighbours house is, sees me and walks back and quickly asks me 'got any scrap metal that needs moving?' and doesnt hang around particularly to get an answer. I am pretty sure I have heard of would be robbers doing this when they are casing places out, it only occured to me after he had gone that this is what he could be have been doing. Do people actually come round and ask if anyone needs scrap metal moving these days? Should I report this to the police, would that be of any benefit? Anyway, if you are in the area, be vigilant I guess.
  22. Howdy I am off into town this afternoon and I fancy getting my car valeted while I am there. Anyone know anywhere that does this? I remember there being one on eccy road but that was usually a bugger to get a spot.
