NEW MEMBERS ALWAYS WELCOME Description This is a 7.5 mile walk taking us roughly 3.5 hours not including stoppages. its a reasonably easy going walk with quite a few interesting features along the route. The walk starts in Darley Dale, and takes us through Snitterton, Jughole Wood, Bonsall, Upper Town, Wensley and back to Darley Dale. Details Start time: 10:30am Meeting point: Picnic Parking Site (space for 15 cars) on The main road (B5057) Darley Dale. Its before the Square And Compass Inn, which is on the same road and who's postcode is DE4 2EQ Map Reference: Outdoor leisure 24 SK269623 Parking: Picnic Parking Site as above Refreshments and Toilets: Square and Compass Inn just up the road from the cars and The kings Head pub half way round the walk. Public transport: Sorry but no buses run to Darley Dale from Sheffield that early in a morning. Therefore if those able to offer lifts could do so, it would be greatly appreciated.   2. NEW WALKERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME Description This is a lovely moderate going 9-10 mile walk taking us roughly 5. 5 hours. The long neglected grounds of Errwood Hall provide the starting point for this varied walk which takes in the heights of Shining Tor and Cats Tor with their views west to the Cheshire palins and east to Goyt Valley, before descending into the valley for some tranquil walking along the ridges of the ferries and round the reaservoirs. The walk offer great views of the dams and reservoirs and we'll be walking along well used paths, tracks, through fields, woodland and some road roadwalking Details Start time: 10:45am Meeting point: Errwod Hall Car Park situated on the south west edge of the Errwood Reservoir. It can be accessed from the via Goyts Lane from the A5004 Buxton to Valley Bridge Road or down the roads sign posted to Goyts Valley from the B5470 Macclesfield to whaley Bridge road. Refreshments and Toilets: None Parking: As above.   3. NEW MEMBERS ALWAYS WELCOME Description This is a 9.3 mile walk taking us 4.5 hours plus stoppages. This walk is classed as a moderate to hard walk with three hard climbs along forest track and through moorland. It starts from Fairholmes car park at Derwent, and climbs away from the reservoir through woodland to Rowlee Pasture and the high ridge above Derwent Valley. Needless to say that the views in all directions are stunning. We then soon reach Alport Castles before returning back down to the Derwent Valley and alongside the reservoir back to the start. The terrain is on rough and moorland tracks and paths, good paths and woodland. Details Start time: 10:00am (to tie in with bus times) Meeting point: Fairholmes pay and display car park, Derwent, by the refreshment stand. Map Reference: SK172893 Parking: Fairholmes pay and display car park, or free parking in the bays on the approach road to the car park Refreshments and Toilets: Toilets and refreshment kiosk in the car park at Firholmes, also the Ladybower Inn after the walk. Public transport: Bus 272 leaves Sheffield Interchange at 9:00am arriving at Fairholmes at 9:32am. Return buses are 15:38pm and 18:36pm. Walk Leaders: Village Owl.   5. NEW WALKERS ALWAYS WELCOME Description This is a 10.5 mile walk taking us 5 hours plus stoppages. It starts from the Black Rocks Parking area above Cromford, taking us onto the High Peak Trail and through Middleton Top, Callow, Kirk Ireton, Bolehill and back to Black Rocks. The description describes it as a rewarding walk offering great views in places. The route and terrain takes us through fields, woodlands, down country lanes, through farm land and across one or two roads. The pub visited on route is described as a real ale pub, serving beer from the barrels rather than from the pumps. Details Start time: 10:40am Meeting point: Black Rocks parking area (above Cromford) Map Reference: SK290557 Parking: Black Rocks Parking Area The nearest postcode I can find is DE4 4GT. To get to the Black Rocks parking are. take the A6 road from Matlock to Derby, turn right onto the A5012/Cromwell Hill, which becomes the B5036. You then want your eighth road off on your left (from when you turned off the A6), its the one after Bakers Lane, and Black Rocks Parking area will be signposted there. Refreshments and Toilets: Toilets in the car park and at the pub at Kirk Ireton half way round. Public transport: Sorry not reachable by bus or train. Car sharing is advisable.   6. A fantastic walk today, a great turnout, great weather and fab views.
  7. Yes its fine to bring dogs along, all we ask is that their owners keep them under control, and if walking through fields with cattle and sheep in then that they are kept on their leads. Please be aware also that we may have to cross stiles, so as long as your dog can get over them or you can lift them over, your more than welcome to bring them.

  9. NEW WALKERS ALWAYS WELCOME Description This is a 8.5 mile walk, taking us roughly 5 - 5.5 hours. It starts from the main car park In Edale (which costs £5 to park - so car sharing is advisable), before taking us along some of the Pennine Way to Upper Booth. From there we climb Jacobs Ladder, which is a steep climb which will r=take us about an hour, before walking along the tops through woolpacks, Grindslow Knoll, Sheepfolds and then back onto the Pennine Way to Edale. It takes in some wonderful Peak District views, including down into the Noe Valley, the Hope Valley and across to Mam Tor. The terrain will be well used tracks and paths, some rocky paths, and a steep roughly 1 hour climb up Jacobs Ladder. Details Start time:10:30am Meeting point: Main Pay and Display Car Park, Edale - Costs roughly £5 to park all day so car sharing is advised to keep the cost down.   12. NEW WALKERS ALWAYS WELCOME Description This is a lovley approxiamatley 8 mile walk, with some fantastic views that will take us 4.5 hours. Starting at Sheffield Station, from where we catch a train to Hathersage, then walk along the river to Grindleford, along to Fox House, through Blackamoor to Totley and ends up at Dore Sation. from where people can catch as train back into the town centre. Details Start time: 10:10am to catch the 10:20 train. Walk starts at 11:00am from Hathersage Train station. Meeting point: Sheffield train Station paltform 2C (to catch the train) or you can catch the train at Dore Station at 10:27am *** PLEASE NOTE*** walk leaders will be catching the train at Dore Station, so if you are travelling from Sheffield, there will be no leaders on the train until Dore. Parking: City centre car parks, or Dore Station Car Park and surrounding streets.   15. NEW WALKERS ALWAYS WELCONE Description This is a relatively easy going 4.5/5 mile walk taking us 1.45/2 hours. Starting from Dore train Station on Abbeydale Road, we will be walking through Ecclesall Woods to Abbey Lane and then through Beauchief Golf Course back to the station. Afterwards we will visit the Wagon and Horses pub on Abbeydale Road for a social drink, Details Start time: 6:50pm Meeting point: Dore Railway Station Parking: Dore Railway Station Car Park and surrounding side streets. Refreshments and Toilets: None on route, pub afterwards Public transport: 97 and 98 buses run along Abbeydale Road.   17. NEW WALKERS ALWAYS WELCOME Description This is a wonderful 7 mile walk, with some fantastic views that will take us 3.5 hours. Starting in Baslow, it takes us over the bridge towards Chatsworth alongside the river Derwent, passing the nursery, through the deer park and past the house itself. Chatsworth House should look bright and shiny after recently having all its gold edging replaced. The walk then takes us into Beeley, and then up onto the hillside and back into the Chatworth Estate, and then back to Baslow. Details Start time: 10:30am Meeting point: Public pay and display car park, centre of Baslow. Opposite Il Lupo on the main Sheffield to Bakewell Road. Map Reference: Sk 257722 Parking: Public pay and dispaly car park, oryou can usually park on the road that goes up the side of Il Lupo, which saves you having to pay in the public car park. Refreshments and Toilets Toilets at Baslow, Devonshire Arms at Beeley, Chatwsorth House, Pubs in Baslow Public transport: TM bus 218 leaves Sheffieild interchange at 9:30am getting to BAslow at 10:05am. Return buses are 2:40pm and 3:40pm. NEW WALKERS ALWAYS WELCOME Description This is a 4 mile walk and will take us just under two hours, and allows us to take in the splendor of the bluebells which should be in full bloom in Woolley Woods. It starts in Meadowhall Interchange car park and then onto the trans pennine trail into Woolley Woods, across a golf course, back onto the trail and back through the woods back to Meadowhall Interchange. There is a steady climb downhill invovled and the terrain varies from footpaths, bridleways, tracks to woodland paths. After the walk we'll retire to a nearby pub for a social drink. Mostly on well trodden paths with one steep descent. It starts in Mexborough, taking us up to Conisborough Castle via the Sheffield and South Yorkshire navigation canal and the Conisborough Viaduct, before returning via Old Denaby. Details Start time: 10:30am Meeting point: Car Park at the rear of Mexborough Bus interchange, John Strret, S64 9HS - free parking Refreshments and Toilets: Rest/lunch break in the gardens below Conisborough Castle.   23. Fabulous walk today, the scenery and views of the reservoirs were great, Thanks to Hippiechick3 for helping lead, and to everyone who attended. It was lovely to meet our latest new walkers.
