Well if you want an honest answer and not a discussion as the the content of the character of politicians I can tell you. I was a full time home maker working a part time evening job with a husband and two very small children. Through no fault of my own I found myself a single mother with two small children and stuck. My employer graciously allowed me to shift my work to daytime patterns, if it were not for the Childcare tax credits, and working tax credits I would have found myself unemployed and claiming benefits. Both these things lifted a lot of people (mainly women) out of the benefits trap and allowed them the dignity of being part of the working world. They also introduced the nursery voucher scheme where parents could buy their childcare tax free out of their salary. All schemes which enabled more people to work. It is unfortunate that a lot of the work afforded mothers with small children only offer part time work which means that the credits system enabled us to work. The current administration however think that this isn't right and have decided in these trying times where work is scarce and employers are given to offer contracts of zero hours or more usually up to 16, they are moving the tax credit goal posts to a minimum contracted hours of 25. So were I claiming tax credits and working 20 hours a week i will no longer qualify for support to bring my income up to a living wage or for childcare support. Which in effect would push me out of work and back into benefits. So Labour enabled me to work and contribute to society whilst making sure my children were cared for. That won't be happening to alot of women in the future following the implementation of the changes. just one example but that is what Labour did for me.

Girl turns down 'mandatory' work placement
fox20thc replied to scentral's topic in General Discussions
Workfare is just not fair at all. If these companies have space to employ somebody to work within their organisation and contribute to it's profits they should have the decency to employ them and allow them to sign off benefits and pay taxes. I was shocked at the number of companies actually using unemployed people in the manner. Holland & Barrett Tesco HMV Matalan Newham Council Haringey Council The Royal Mail Bookers Wholesale Argos Maplin TK Maxx Primark Boots McDonald’s Burger King Arcadia group of clothes stores Superdrug It reminds me very much of my youth when I worked 40 hours a week for £27.50 a on a YTS, the theory being that if you proved yourself you would be given a job at the end of it, the reality was that after 13 weeks the employer would send you back and take on a new 'trainee' whilst you went onto another 'placement'. -

The council don't own the park and ride so can't offer free parking. Stagecoach however could but would rather charge for p&r -

Well I've just seen a lovely job working on the emergency dept reception at the Childrens hospital the catch being the successful candidate is employed on a zero hours contract. I was told at the job centre that lots of employers are going that route and not committing to a set amount of hours for its staff - great for budgeting for the household that isn't it.

answered the phone today and online pc solutions were on the other end for the 4th day in a row. She asked me if I was near my pc or laptop I said yes, then she told me she has a message that my computer has errors on it. I said how do you know that, she said my computer had sent the error messages to them.. I told her my computer isn't connected to the internet so how do you know this... She kept repeating she knew my computer had error messages, I told her it is never connected to the internet and never has been so how could this be.. She hung up.

Hillsborough forum announcement
fox20thc replied to Hills Forum's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
This will be my only contribution to the current conversation to set straight the rumour and misleading comments being posted. The forum was run by the trustees and volunteers with the aid of one part time worker. Previous years when funding from the local authority was significantly more it was to support three and then two members of staff one in a full time post. Funding covered the building on proctor place, utilities (gas electricity, phone, broadband), business rates, office supplies and the part time worker salary. As has been said numerous times the project was non partisan and had no affiliation to any political party. As well as the environmental activities undertaken by the team and volunteers, there was the shop local campaign and working with local businesses to identify issues - which included solving the problems with clamping and fining in the car park atop the shopping centre. They left the legacy of the town centre strategy which has been adopted into the city wide strategy by the council. Those who were directly involved in the forum are fully aware of it's reach and the impact it made on the physical area. Volunteers who engaged in activities valued the forum as a place to go to get involved with support and guidance. As detailed in the OP the closure of the organisation is purely down to financial reasons. Charitable trusts on the whole like to fund activities not the core costs of keeping existing projects running, and it is with this in mind the opportunities for the trustees to source finance specifically for core costs became thin on the ground. As said before it is more than likely the community garden will continue in it's own right and should that happen those leading the efforts will may local people aware of when work days are to take place.
