  1. The days of the penny tray are alive and well. The newsagents on Walkley Lane has a whole shelf of goodies to pick and mix from penny sweets to giant jelly spiders at 25p. They also have an array of jars of sweets where you can buy a 100g or just say how much you want to spend eg 50p and they will weigh out that many for you.
  2. I had the same issue with a member of staff in the museum regarding taking pictures, we weren't even in the exhibition space but in the dressing up area. My question would be why am I able to walk into the British Museum and take photographs galore of the Rosetta Stone and the Elgin Marbles but not one of my kid by the side of the badly stuffed fox in Weston Park? The rules are fair enough but staff need to be told them clearly and not given free rein to change them when the mood suits.
  3. The other halfs parents have a static here http://www.7lakes.co.uk/ and spend most of the season there, he's a keen angler and loves it.
  4. Can I just say I have read the objections on the planning site and heartfelt though they be they don't actually address an objection to the plan which fits in with the planning regulations. Saying you want to keep independent retailers is not enough you need to have a planning reason for objecting (such as parking ect) there is no room for sentiment in the planning department and it will fall on deaf ears.
  5. Rich, fyi that shop closed down about 4 years ago and relocated to Woodseats
  6. Freezers and fridges were routinely taken for free due to the EU regs. It must have changed when everyone started tightening their belts, it was definitely the council and definitely free.
  7. They didn't we replaced our fridge freezer about 3 years ago and they collected it for free.
  8. unless they very recently changed the rules they will take domestic fridges and freezers from anyone regardless of tenancy private/council or homeowners. edit; they have changed the rules, private homeowners are charged £18 - council tenants are still free Fridges can be collected for a rate of £18 for private householders and people renting from private landlords. For those on qualifying benefits there is a rate of £15. Call veolia for them to collect
  9. http://giffgaff.com/index/offer free sim £10 per month unlimited web/texts/250 mins No credit checks.
  10. What RoseyRat said, the eggs are in the porch with the honesty box on the window sill. A lovely way to do business in my opinion and delicious eggs.
  11. So now Yorkshire Bank have announced they are axing 1400 jobs Rich, what next?
  12. I think you may have to wait until next week as I'm guessing the owners are a little busy watching their business smoulder in the rain. If they are insured you should in the fullness of time get a refund.
  13. Go have a listen http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p001d7tv/episodes/player
  14. The met office has anticipated April 2012 may be the wettest April EVER on record so where is the very little rain scenario?
  15. interesting because morrisons are still selling caged eggs.
  16. Farms don't sell their eggs cheap, I usually pay £1.50 for half a dozen from honesty boxes. Nearest to Hillsborough would be the house next to the Nags Head out Loxley way.
  17. has she looked at this? http://www.myphotostitch.com/

  22. I knew that a car had hit the railings at Hillsborough Corner during the Christmas period and that since then there has been temporary fencing in place to 'protect the public'. Passed through the other day and somebody seems to have taken matters into their own hands as the repairs are still pending 4 months after the incident. The railings have been decorated with ribbons and butterflies see here---> and they have written a poem to the council Now I have no clue who did this but it's a fab way of drawing attention to the lack of repair. :hihi:
  23. Why is it about class? I went to Uni, I have friends at uni and getting an education doesn't automatically mean you are of a 'higher class' than the rest of the population. What it should mean is that you are educated enough to know how to behave in public and have a little respect for your environment and those around you. (I have a dog but this is not relevant to thread which is about an influx of students treating our park like a dumping ground)
  24. I recall we had exactly the same problem last year with the varsity games, they left the park in an appalling state and it would explain why there were so many 'young people' stocking up on alcohol in Morrisons at tea time yesterday. And @miss_boss it's nothing to do with jealously it's anger at a total lack of respect for their environment and the people in it. Try having a word with the Park ranger and staff who despite having cuts to their staffing levels are expected to clean up the mess. They are paid to maintain the grounds not clear up a squillion empty cans and bottles.
