  1. Thanks for the reply, I think it will be something to have a look at when we decorate as i'd be having to chase out a new backbox to start! I'll have to have a look behind the current switch and see if it uses L1, L2 and com, then I know if it's compatible. I'll have to weigh up the cost v hassle of using Hue/Lightwave. Although the sockets and inline switches look very interesting.
  2. Thanks for the reply, Cost isn't too much of a concern, using hue primarily anything is cheaper! My main concern is good integration with IFTTT, Alexa and hopefully soon Harmony hub. The hardest part would be my lounge, it's open plan and has a 3 gang switch which controls 2 sets of lounge lights and the third being the stairs, which then also has a switch at the top, so i'm unsure if that would be workable?
  3. Echo topic aside, i've just looked at your A/V room build and WOW, it looks great. The lightwave switches do they need a neutral? I'm using hue alot but the cost in multi bulb rooms is very high.
  4. It's never been an issue, if it becomes one I'll add hue light switches too. And yes the cost is high, and is it really with it to switch lights on and off? probably not.... But I love my gadgets and home automaton is a big one. I could use some other system, but hue works without any hassle. The led strips are meant to be great, and as other manufacturers work with hue you can get much cheaper lights(innr, lifex, osram etc ), and even hue compatible led controllers, enabling you to use your current strips with hue.
  5. I'm loving my Alexa, I have paired her to my heating, lights (Hue) and she will be connecting to a Harmony hub soon. As i had heating hive was easy. I didn't have any smart lights before though so went through the decisions on which to go for, Hive has a limited range, and the Skill while good isn't perfect (you still have to say 'ask hive to do xyz). I looked at switches but due to UK wiring this was a no no (plus it would cast a bomb due to most rooms having atleast 2 switches!! In the end I went with Hue as they are the market leader and have many bulbs of their own and many other bulbs will work with them (lightwave will for example). The leaving the switch on is not an issue, as my wife doesn't always like to use the Alexa commands or the app it's actually more convenient (she can flick the switch off/on and the light will operate as normal). And the app is great (I have morning routines that fade the lights in from about 0630 to wake us up). Alexa integration and IFTTT with Hue is much better (I can simply say, Alexa turn the bedroom light on, or Alexa, dim the bedroom light 50 (percent)). Overall loving the home automation, and when my harmony hub comes (with an extra dot for £10) i'll be able to automate even more(can then use cheaper IR plug sockets, as apposed to wifi plug sockets).
  6. It is an odd setup, i'll have another play with it later to confirm, but pretty sure there is no web interface, it does support ONVIF though so can be added to an NVR,
  7. Pretty sure it's the same /similar as one I received to review, it has a USB port for power, and its set up via the app, via sound.
  8. Sounds like one I have received for review. Is the app yoosee? The one I have you reset the camera (button in the back), it then says ready to config. You then click add in the app and put in your wifi details, it then talks to the camera via an audio noise and connects (will ask for the camera user and password which is on the back of the camera). While it gets an IP it doesn't have a web interface (I think, I have only briefly set it up, and popped the IP into a browser which returned a page cannot be displayed), the settings are done through the app. Everything works through WiFi and 4G as it should. EDIT - I've just seen you mentioned Ithink as the app, looking on the play store the app looks very, very similar.
  9. Or the words of the comics However it does look like a new group that are not in the comics maybe coming in the 2nd half of the season.
  10. With so many apps out there it's hard to recommend what you may like, but here is a list of some of my most used apps to give you an idea of the variety out there: Hive - Controls my heating FuelLog - Records fillups so I get very accurate MPG data, and cost data for all my cars NZB360 - Allows me to connect to my Sabnzb server and send downloads (TV shows etc) to it. Next Episode - Lists what TV shows are out and ready to be downloaded (US shows etc). Chrome Remote Desktop - One of the best Android remote desktop apps (can be used to connect to any machine with Chrome) Geocaching app - A recreational hobby I partake in, consisting of using million dollar satellites to find Tupperware in the woods Strava - Logs my exercise Fitbit - Links to my FitBit Blaze smartwatch (records HR, sleep data, steps etc). Myfitnesspal - Logs food I eat, syncs to other apps and helps monitor my overall calories in v out.
  11. As mentioned we have a very nice retail park (Fox Valley) with a good selection of shops and restaurants, we are also top of the suggestion polls for the next Supertram extension (whether or not that will actually happen though), if you drive it's fine, if you rely on busses I wouldn't even contemplate it. There is great community spirit, we still have a fair few pubs (some serve food). And recently the leisure center re-opened. We're also either the start or finish of the Tour de Yorkshire next year. As it stands it's a very up and coming place, buy before the prices rise
  12. I use Sky, never had an issue and download very heavily, no throttling or speed drops at peak times, plus good upload speeds. Currently paying £37 for Fibre, phone line, family bundle (box sets etc).
  13. Indeed, I had to get up early as I did not want one of the most hyped cliffhangers to be spoilt before i watched it!! But boy did they deliver, what a premier!!
  14. After personal experience with Origin I would not trust them as far as I can throw them!! I believe they resell various wholesale products so more than possible they're throttling you.
  15. We've got some with sequential serials, these are also good ones to hold onto.
  16. I've switched to leasing and find it a great way to have a brand new motor. I pay £160 for high spec Skoda Yeti (SE L), on a 6+23 agreement (payed 6 *160 upfront), costing me a total of ~£190 a month. For this I never have to worry about tax, insurance was cheaper, and the car will always be under warranty while I have it. I get 15k miles a year, any over that cost me 5p/m iirc. All is good, but...... I always have the nagging feeling in my head when I park it anywhere that some oink will prang, dint, scratch it. Any damage over fair wear and tear (which is pretty fair, scratches to 25mm, dents upto 10mm deep, stone chips) I have to pay for at the end of the term, now I did pay for private SMART insurance for the term @ £190 iirc, which covers a fair bit, but that niggle is always there. However, I drive a brand new motor, which would cost a lot more to be buying and at the end of 2 yrs I hand the keys back hassle free. Would I do leasing again? Probably, unless they offer the car to me at a cheap price, or a car I want comes into the price range I want to pay (and i'm willing to then be tied to possible mechanical issues, and selling hassles when I want to get rid). It's a very cheap way to own a brand new car, you just need to be able to look after it well. As for the up front amount, it's not a deposit in the sense you get it back, you don't. And some (mainly dealer arranged) leases may allow you to P/X, but not too sure on this. Any questions feel free to ask
  17. One big tip, number every piece on each corner the same i.e all pieces joining to corner A, are number 1, corner B number 2, and take lots and lots of pictures.
  18. The path now runs direct through Fox Valley, via the main entrance, then continues past Aldi (I think).
  19. It would have ran through where Pontis is, the developers moved it to the actual entrance to the development. See here: https://www.facebook.com/steelvalleyway/
  20. I've been to NYC grill a couple of times, it's not bad service is sometimes a little slow, but I put that down to settling in. The sliders are great! I've only had drinks in Pontis, pretty pricey though.
  21. There are 3 sets of toilets I know of; 1 main toilet block next to Greggs and NYC (upstairs), a toilet in Aldi, and a (2 I think) set of toilets in Sandersons ( I would also think Costa has a toilet too). ---------- Post added 19-09-2016 at 12:36 ---------- Yeh, I also heard the same, and it's always busy so it would be used. There are jobs advertised on the Sports Direct site for Fox Valley too, so they may also be opening?
  22. I live up near Underbank, lovely area with nothing but far fetching views in just about every direction. I just hope another social venue gets added, maybe a Wetherspoons or some other pub grub casual place.
  23. The footpath got moved, there was open consultation on this
