Yes! I think there were 3 and they were a few minutes apart.
Worrying.

My little black cat didn't come home last night and was last seen on Albert Road about 5pm yesterday.
He is male, all black, quite slinky looking, about 1 year old. He is microchipped.
Please can you look in your sheds and check if he is locked in somewhere.
Please message me if you have seen him.

He was locked in the neighbours shed all night

Thank you for the replies so far they are a help. They all seem to be of a similar mind to me so far and I would like to hear others views, even those who aren't particularly interested in receiving a benefit from any of the work that may happen there. The sceptics' points of view are also welcome.

Hi Titian,Â
I am not entirely sure of your intentions, although it has a very altruistic feel, so let me give you an idea so we can see if I am understanding you correctly.
Â
As some people on this forum have had the misfortune of encountering, I am very passionate about integration and combating misunderstanding of issues of race and religion.
Â
Yesterday I had a verbal exchange with some people about my world-view and how the world-view of foreigners that seems to exist within the UK could do with altering. The discussion was heated and it caused me to think: It would be brilliant to have a charity that actively encourages dialogue between people that feel disenchanted with immigration and actual immigrants.
Â
Having worked at the University (and now at another University in the country) I am fortunate to meet people from all sorts of backgrounds and nationalities on a daily basis. I need to appreciate that this is why I have the views I have and that it is easy to forget that not everybody has the opportunity for such encounters.
Â
That is how far my thinking went, what do you make of it?
Â
Hi tzijlstra,
This would certainly fit my thinking as one of the streams of cultural development. How to frame that positively so that it didn't become an agressive debating society would need some thought I imagine, but yes I can see this kind of work being in the picture.
You are also right in it being an altruistic act. My belief is that it needs to be altruistic for it to have the right and correct impact socially. Giving altruistically in my opinion is the way to reform society on a large scale. Just my opinion.

Bianca wasn't found unfortunately and we have had to accept the fact that she died somewhere but I just wanted to thank you all for your help with this. I am truly appreciative of your thoughts, comments and practical acts. Much love and thanks to you wonderful folk!

I'm interested in people's thoughts on the needs of the people of Sheffield. This isn't for an assignment, or for academic research purposes before anyone becomes nervous about giving their response. This is for personal interest as I feel I know some things that the people of Sheffield need and would benefit from in a social context but not everything, as I only have my own perspective to work from.
What are the issues that people face in Sheffield right now that cannot be met by public sector? (and I'm not looking to have anyone buy services from me, so no need for caution there either).
In addition to the potential concerns above I can also reassure that this isn't nebulous and meaningless questioning of you all. I value your time as I do my own so any replies will be greatly appreciated.
So I guess the only thing left is charitable contributions... which I am also not asking for from anyone.
It would be fair at this stage to give some kind of clue why I wish to know your thoughts on the question above so I will hint at that now. I have a place/centre/building/space call it what you want as I don't wish to define it further at this point. This space needs energy/people/life/ and has a long history of good social intention behind it.
In order for it to have life/people/energy it needs a new social context and I'm only interested in one that meets the needs of Sheffield people, who may be needy. When I say needy you can also define that how you wish. Needy of food? Education? Nurturing? social contact? general vulnerability?
It is also fair of me to say that there is money to take care of this as long as there is an educational element to some of the needs identified.
To give an example of my thinking (which is only one individual perspective) I feel some of the needs are:
A need to redress the balance of food in the city.
A need to redress the balance of imagery that children are exposed to (be it GTA 5 / inappropriate and accidental internet use / etc.)
A need for adult education that is free
A need for cross community sharing
Â
These are a few things that come to my mind immediately but I am genuinely interested to hear others views from across the city. What do you see as the need in our city now, at this time and time meaning era?
Â
Here's hoping

I've heard very good reports about this holiday in particular in Ylas.

Probably a bit silly, but still holding out hope... haven't yet cancelled her vets appointment which is on Tuesday.

If you make up a poster for lamp posts etc we will gladly print some for you and laminate them.Â
Thank you so much that is very kind of you. We will work on a poster tonight.

I know your cat very well and used to spend a while giving her some affection whilst delivering newspapers. (around 12 years ago) I live round the corner and will of course keep an eye out on my travels around the area. Good luck in finding her.Â
That's so lovely to hear. She's very friendly when she has the energy. Thank you for offering to keep an eye out for her it means a lot.

I saw a very similar looking cat last night in the carpark for asda on queens road. Might be worth a look.Â
I doubt she would have made it that far but you never know so I will check this out. Thank you.

Don't know if this will work or not for cats, but try putting a box in your garden with her favorite blanket in it or a piece of clothing that you've worn. Maybe the familiar smell will draw her back home. Put out a bowl of her favorite tasty food too. Definitely worth contacting all the local vets cos if she is old, collarless & chipless & found disorientated, most likely she will be taken to a vet. Also, ring & register her details with the RSPCA, Sheffield Cats Shelter, and Cats Protection. Lots of old cats are mistaken for poorly strays, so call & ask them to add her to their lost cat register AND get them to check the Admission Inquiries request file for stray cats that they have had recently (sometimes staff forget to cross reference the two).Hope you find her soon
Thank you for all of those tips and I will certainly work on them as I hadn't thought to contact a vet. She is registered at highfield vets and due to go there next week for more medication and a check up

Thank you everyone for your help and concern so far. She hasn't turned up yet but I'm still hopeful. Even if you think you have seen an injured cat I would rather know her fate than be left wondering if she is somewhere helpless.
-
BTW she looks alot like a cat we refer to as "stalker cat" as she follows us around... She also knows the sound of my keys, so dont think its yours.Â
Does she go out alot or is this a rare thing?
Â
Well she does follow outlines of people and she can feel you stamp your feet near her.....
-
I can upload a pic on facebook if you wish with your contact details, I have a few friends in that area would that be ok with you?Â
That would be wonderful thank you! I have just put it on facebook too. She is called Bianca, not that she will hear if you call her.

Mod Note:Sorry for moving your thread. I hope everyone can keep a look out for your cat. I live in the area and will keep my eyes open.
Â
Do you have any photos of your cat, so we can get a better description?
Â
No problem and thank you for your concern. Is there a way to put photo's on here as I do have some that will help.

Our cat has been missing since last night and we are desperate to find her as she needs medication each evening. She has now gone two evenings without it and becomes disorientated.
Â
She is a 17 year old female cat, white ginger and black markings. She is quite frail and has a very croaky meow that is quite monotone.
Â
She is deaf and blind and can only make out outlines (light and dark) so may not be able to see or hear you and may walk into things.
Please listen out for her in your gardens as she may have wandered and become lost.
If you find her, she will not bite or scratch you and please pick her up and bring her into your home and message me on here or text 07969 124344.
Â
I really need to find her soon as she gets quite ill without her medication and very confused.

Thread moved: HI Thanks for the message, I was really hoping to reach people in Meersbrook though who may not necessarily be pet owners and look in the pets forum. Please could this be a sticky for now or stay in general discussions?

I just need to check if my son is hood winking me?
He thinks he starts back on Wednesday but everything on the school website (albeit scant) indicates term starts on Monday.
Can anyone help?

There is no problem in taking photos or videos at my daughter's junior school. It was similar at her previous infants' school. So I can presume that there are no children under the sort of protection order you outline.Â
This has got me thinking. Does this mean that where schools prohibit such photography, it MUST be that there is at least one at risk child at the school. Could this act as some sort of identifier, which would actually help the abuser to find their target, by a process of elimination. If, say 90% of schools allowed photography, then the abuser would only need to check the other 10% when looking for his/her target.
Â
I don't think it's safe to presume anything about whether or not there are children on the protection register at your child's school due to the lack of regulation about photography. I think you will need to ask your own head teacher that question and judge for yourself, or read some ousted judgements about the schools safety for children at risk.
Also ask yourself the question; should your child be taken from you how would you go about trying to locate them if they were being hidden from you? Would you start by trying to work out the statistics of how many schools as a percentage allowed photography and then look at all the schools that didn't? It's a rather long winded way of finding what you want with a low level of accuracy compared to effort required.
So, in short, no I don'T think your question about whether schools that prohibit photography and those that don't equates to the number of children on a protection register being in attendance. More to do with safe and risky practice.

I'm a teacher as well as the mother of a child whose terrible start to life means that they are spoiling it for everyone else(!)Â
There will be more than one child in a class who has 'special requirements' as you put it. Sadly.

Â
I'm also a single parent. I was when I began the 3 year social services assessment process.
Â
I'm sorry me and my child are spoiling it for everyone else when it comes to you not being able to take pictures of school events until after the event has finished.
Thank you.
I'm not sure how I ended up back here but...
Â
I had thought this thread would have come to its rightful conclusion by now and sense would have prevailed but it seems it didn't.
Â
Unfortunately there are children in the world, in the Uk, in South Yorkshire, in Sheffield, on your street, that are under protection. This does mean that there are measures in place to protect them put there by laws of our country and for good reason. A breach of these laws would mean that someone allowed them to be identified and located... And not just by walking down the street, by means of imagery and such like that can be passed around and shared.
They are being protected from parents or careers who have seriously abused them in horrific ways you probably can't imagine, and would not like to hear about, and these parents or carers are looking for any opportunity to find their child and continue the abuse. Locating them is the first step, Hence the children being subject to a section of the children's act.
Â
If anyone doubts the validity of such rules then I would encourage you to open your mind and do a little research into what goes on in our country in relation to children suffering abuse. Then count your blessings and spare a thought for the children who have suffered abuse and are trying to normalise their lives given half a chance. Also teach your own children tolerance for others who may not be as fortunate and teach them to be considerate.
Â
It seems the poster above in quotes who has a real experience of this was overlooked and ignored by the other posters in this thread who were so caught up in "their rights" to take a photo, regardless of the consequences to others more vulnerable.

I have a tetrad Eastwood sofa which has all feather cushions. What I want to do is replace the filling with foam instead of feathers. Does anyone know someone who can do this for me?

thought I'd give an update: I took her to the vets the nest day and she had various tests done on thyroid, organs etc.
All were fine apart from she has raised white blood cells which they couldn't be specific about.
She had a bit of a bad evening the other evening but has perked up dramatically over the last 3 days but still very skinny and can't afford to lose anymore weight.
So I guess she has a few years left in her?

I love the idea of "training" a cat.........Â
Have you never been able to train or control your pets? Im astonished

Please visit the Sheffield Cats Shelter in Broomhall! We are back open tomorrow for adoptions and have lots of lovely cats and kittens ready for adoptionÂ
Thank you, do you have any long hair/semi long hair kittens there?

I had a total thyroidectomy a few years ago and went straight onto levothyroxine. Ive been seeing a consultant at the hospital for nearly 4 years now, every 8 weeks, to try and help me get balanced and feel well. Hes been very supportive and ive tried various drugs one of which was armour thyroid that he ordered in from america for me.
I have to say that after months on armour I had to admit that it made no difference at all and actually the stress of not knowing if it would arrive from the usa each time and then going to the hospital each time to collect it was a challenge.
My cognition, vision, mood and memory have never been the same since my operation and im accepting they will never be. So now I take levothyxroxine and a number of minerals and vitamins and do the best I can to regulate my mood to try and be less bipolar than I have the default of being. Plus exercise and calm at times.
