  1. I don’t have an allotment. Had one years ago with chickens on that I hatched in my incubator. I do have decent size gardens front & back. I’m keen on doing stuff in the garden. I’ve got 50 garlic growing in the back at the moment. I used to grow shrubs from cuttings and sell them from home on a weekend many years ago. I’ve still got quite a few bulbs to go in if I hurry up . I like unusual ones-have recently put 4 fritilliaria in-they grow about 5ft tall. Going to have a go a small Dahlias from seed this season-spectacular colours. Also got two or three walls planned for around the garden, so plenty going on. I recently fetched about a dozen bags of manure from the stables for the compost heap. Also got a small wormery going in the out-house with tiger worms from eBay. What are you doing on the allotment? Your shed/greenhouse combi sounds useful. How is it joined together? Did you build the shed from brick and join it to the greenhouse?
  2. Not had the problem yet, but will keep it in mind to put a couple of house bricks on top if it`s getting windy.
  3. Don`t think I follow you-edited-see my bold:huh:
  4. ]How will the cost of this (extra floor& new roof) compare? Although not suggesting the above, would it not be cheaper to raise the floor level of the ground floor by a couple of feet?
  5. That’s interesting Karl, and you have obviously thought it through. I like ideas of this nature. I got some large tomato cans from a restaurant owner, for putting my jacket potatoes in to prevent them burning when I put them in my incinerator after burning garden rubbish. If it is of help you can have a couple. They are 6 inch wide x 6 inch deep. Maybe then just replace the candles once per week? I guess you will need to cut the base out of the bean cans with a can opener to help with candle removal. If you use the 6 inch cans, maybe just drill a 1 inch dia hole in the center so you can help push the candle out, and use the can again. If you encounter any problems with the can method, I guess you could use a tapered shaped mould like a terracotta pot.
  6. Hi Karl, I watched the YT clip and found the idea interesting while being simple and effective. I thought the idea of the terracotta pots to retain & radiate heat was quite ingenious-good idea. Regarding your question about fumes, I would guess it will not be a problem. I have a large candle in the house and the outer 6mm of it is scented, but it gives off virtually nothing in respect of fumes. Where are you going to get the wax from?
  7. I can see the words "biscuits" now that I have enlarged it:hihi: I wonder why they put gingerbread in larger letters:suspect. Anyway, did you get some and how do they compare to the run of the mill ones? I like gingers and prefer Crawfords brand to the bigger brands) as they seem to have less suger in them, although I`ve not compared the labels. Not keen on sweet stuff.

  9. Contrary to what was originally claimed about upkeep/maintenance, details are now filtering through that the theatre suffered “years of neglect” http://news.sky.com/story/1185681/apollo-theatre-collapse-venue-neglected
  10. I always look forward to spring. While we may face snow over the next few weeks, it is always refreshing to know that from tomorrow onwards the days will be getting longer.
  11. The item in the link is ginger bread. Do they sell the biscuits also?
  12. I was on a website reading about the effects of crack cocaine. One of the things that was explained was that crack affects the key pleasure centres within the brain. Does anyone have a theory why the human brain has these specific areas? What is their legitimate function/purpose?
  13. The £30 million Rotherham to Sheffield bus scheme with limited stops only, is to begin soon with a planned completion for 2015. Part of the journey will run on “dedicated bus lanes”, and a separate road will be built under the M1 motorway at Tinsley. Apparently further routes are planned. (I’m not sure what is meant by “under the motorway” but am sure someone on here will know).
  14. This site looks like it could be helpful Henri. http://fordtransit.org/forum/
  15. Is there any way to put a different pre-recorded greeting message on a cordless phone other than simply holding the phone up to a speaker to record it? The phone is a modern digital phone, but there are no sockets on it.
  16. I don`t know if your trip meter resets the same as the one on my car , but I have to "press all the way in and hold" for a few seconds. If I recall, I think the same button adjusts the brightness of the dash clocks also.
  17. A number of years ago I made several large wooden propagators (about 6ft x 2ft) and used soil warming cables that were controlled with the addition of a thermostat. I was able to set the temperature to be quite specific for rooting the cuttings. Now, all I want is one of these relatively small plastic ones (seen some on eBay). Although the ones I’ve seen do have a heat source, it is not controlled as such. The temp will rise and fall with the ambient temperature. Would like to get one with a thermostat if possible. EDIT: Just having a look at this site- http://www.greenhousesensation.co.uk/propagators/vitopod-heated-propagators.html?gclid=CIeXhqOPirsCFQTItAodYFQAoQ
  18. I see Miley Cyrus has done a cover of her own video. I don’t know what razor blades the girl is using these days.
  19. Been looking for some golden Laylandii conifers. I need about 10. I don’t mind the size too much as I can grow them on, and they grow quite fast. Anyone know a reasonable place?
  20. I`m thinking of getting one for cuttings. Anyone else got one?
  21. Has anyone with a sought after expensive vehicle considered disabling their vehicle each night? Bit of a hassle maybe, but it only needs a wire unclipping to prevent starting. It would certainly frustrate a car thief and have him scratching his head later. Years ago while leaving my car some place for several hours while I attended a concert, I simply removed the rotor arm.
  22. I have just a passive interest in these in-car video recorders , of which there are numerous different models now available. The “quality” ones seem quite expensive. But, this person on the BBC documentary-”Caught red handed” says they bought the item in question for just £22 from eBay. Certainly it seems to do the job if the footage in the programme is anything to go by, but only £22?? (On the link to the programme, start watching at 7m 30sec). http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01rbqz3/Caught_Red_Handed_Series_1_Episode_2/ Has anyone else bought an in-car cam for under fifty quid and been impressed with it? The eBay link below is what came up when I looked on the site. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xnew+portable+HD+car+DVR+driving+dashbourd+recordervideomonitor+camera+cam&_nkw=new+portable+HD+car+DVR+driving+dashbourd+recordervideomonitor+camera+cam&_sacat=0&_from=R40
  23. It works ok with drag & drop. Got bluetooth on the phone, but don`t you have to have bluetooth on the sending device as well?
  24. It is a Nokia 301 40 UI is the OS apparently http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Nokia-301_id7747
