Party Venues/function rooms to Hire Megathread
my eyes only replied to bashy's topic in Going out in Sheffield
Hi everyone This question has been asked a million times before, I have read through the long lists of venues for hire, but I need to still ask:- 50th surprise birthday party for over 150 people, maybe use there caterers, I can also use my own DJ, and won't be stupidly over priced. Please give me any suggestions all will be welcome. Thanks -
Hi I have an old single quilt, 2 single memory foam toppers and a couple of pillow, do animal charities use these? If so I can wash and dry them for them to use. If not I need to know asap because I will be taking the to the tip today. Thanks X

Did you work at Abrose Shardlow’s?
my eyes only replied to peterw's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
My dad worked there for many many years but sadly he died from cancer back in 2003 aged 64 his name was roger Brough and he was a fitter, he spoke quiet a lot about the laughs he had and the great people he worked with. Can anyone tell me if there has only been one club on archer road, back in the eighties? -
Need to know small cat rescues in Sheffield
my eyes only replied to my eyes only's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
Food taken -
Hi all I have a few boxes of cat/kitten food pouches that I no longer need, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in me donating them to them, I don't want to give them away to anyone as I feel small rescues would benefit from them more. Please contact me and I would be more than happy to drop them off.

Thank you for the advice It just annoys me that someone with nothing to gain can give good advice, but the qualified people have not offered any help what so ever, as long as my money is handed over there happy. I am at the moment more wise to the treatments out there but I'm still paying my vets to prescribe the treatments I have found and I still have to pay a consultation fee! Why they've not consulted me over anything I am the one who will be telling them!!!!
-
I hope she does, she has that many allergies that I don't think normal vets know how to deal with her because most of the medicine, shampoos and food etc that they would prescribe she can not have, even though every vet has been very nice they don't know what to do with her so have basically left me to try and sort her out. Maybe if she would of been insured (another story completely) I think every vet would of bent over backwards to help her and I think she would be sorted by now, I have stressed to them the money is no object, I've spent nearly a thousand now on treatment etc so to spend that in one go its worth it. It's just her suffering now it's heartbreaking

My story started 2 and half years ago....... My dog daisy started with a skin condition when she was less than 6 months old, I took her to the vets, she was put on piriton, this didn't work, continued to go back to the vets only to be given steroids but no advice or help. One Saturday she started with a really bad outbreak but my vets could not see her, so I took her to another vets, they immediately put her on steroids again but suggested we did blood tests to see what she is allergic too, the results came back and I was pretty much left to my own devices on how I deal with it. Once again I found myself returning to my original vets, but steroids were the given treatment, they were aware that I it was not my choice and after 3 years what can I do, nothing they said. I have taken it upon myself in finding a specialist dermatologist but had to get my vets to refer her which they have done, the only problem is this was last week and they didn't have an appointment until 2 weeks later, she was already having a really bad flare up, so the specialist vets told me to get my vets to prescribe her some non steroid treatment, and guess what they prescribed? Piriton coated in lactose which they know it is one of many things she is allergic to, so I have a poor dog that is so irritated and sore and her life is a misery I am not getting any sleep and she is told all the time about her scratching and rubbing. My point is when did majority of vets become so uncaring and do not want to help animals that are clearly in need of help, but one of the main questions asked to me throughout all of this is can I afford the treatment!!!!!!

How many days am i allowed to stay at my partner house
my eyes only replied to Little Roye's topic in General Discussions
If your partner is claiming both housing and council tax credit you are not allowed to stay there after a certain time of night, this is because it could be seen as you sleeping there, a good number of years ago the ruling changed because couples thought it was ok to have 2 houses both on benefits and stay at each others houses several nights a week. If his neighbours don't care apart from you mentioning it here who is going to know??? -
Dogs Off Leads In Parks - The Legal Position

If he did mean under 25s will no longer receive dole, all hes doing is upping the age from 16 to 25 basicly, a small percentage of teenagers will be made to stay in education until there 25, still leave with no qualifications to then go on the dole anyway, wonder how much time and money will be spent on these 16 to 25 year olds? will it cost less to up the age? or is this a ploy to please the public into thinking there saving money?

Dogs Off Leads In Parks - The Legal Position
my eyes only replied to FatDave's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Unless I was aware that my dog should be kept on her lead, I wouldn't give too hoots if she went and crapped at the side of someone as long as I picked it up and disposed of it correctly, public parks are for everyone, and not just for special people who think because they don't like something it should be banned, they are not special they are petty, narrow minded, inconsiderate, busybodies, who think the world only revolves around them!!! I remember when I was younger and we went to the park for picnics and there was always a cheeky dog coming over to see what goodies we had, or a childs ball etc smashing into the middle of the blanket, it was all part of being in the park enjoying yourself socialising with other people who were also doing the same. People have become so closed off in society nowadays that your not allowed to do anything just in case it offends someone, not everyone will lead the same life as you and you have to except that sometimes things happen that your not going to like, smile and let it go. -
Puppy Advice - Stop Weeing In Cage
my eyes only replied to turtletom's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
The general rule for a puppy holding it's wee is the puppy's age in months plus 1, so around 5 hours for your 18 month old, but every puppy is different so it is trial and error. When our Daisy was a puppy we never put a training pad in her crate, because it then allows puppy's to think weeing in there is ok, even when you take the pad out. We also took Daisy's water away from her around 10 or 11 at night depending on how much she had drank prior to that, and her last wee was around 12ish, she was never left in her crate longer than 6 in the morning, I do agree that they should always have water, but if you are having problems now it is something to consider short term until they stop peeing in the crate. Everyone has dealt with potty training in different ways, all I can say is try to get into a routine as quick as possible or you might find it will become more difficult to stop as they get older. Hope this helps -
Warning! .. Nasturtium eating maggots hit Crookes!
my eyes only replied to Alcoblog's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
The difference is as follows: Flies lay eggs on dead or decaying matter. When the eggs hatch, maggots emerge. Maggots eat decaying organic matter and often form a mass of wiggling "worms." Butterflies and moths lay eggs on plant material. The egg hatch produces caterpillars, which consume plant material. Maggots are short, typically less than 1/2 inch in length, contain hooked mouth parts on a tapered head and have a rounded or blunt hind end. A maggot is typically whitish tan with two kidney-shaped spiracles, or breathing holes, on its hind end. Maggots have no legs and move by wormlike contractions. Caterpillars may be solid brown, black, green or yellow or bear a variety of striped or spotted patterns. They may reach lengths of 2 to 4 inches, depending on the species. Caterpillars have distinct eyes, body sections and two types of legs; they use one type to hold food and the other type for locomotion. Caterpillars have sensory hairs on their surface and may have spikes or fake eye spots to fool predators. -
Really good car interior valeting needed
my eyes only posted a topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
My car is a family car, the interior is very dirty from the winter months and I have my dog in the boot where the side material has dog hair imbedded in it (boot liner has saved the rest of it). Can anyone recommend anyone who is very good at doing a full interior valeting, to bring it back to show room condition??? Much appreciated for any suggestions or recommendations -
Can anyone tell me what crossbreed maisy is please x
my eyes only replied to fabcakes's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
I think she has shar pei and staffy in her and maybe another? my dog is GS, shar pei and staffy cross (pic to the left), and has a very similar look to maisy, even tho my dog does not have pointy ears her sister does and thats why I think she is a mixture of 3 breeds -
I am not going to go into all the benefit side of this discussion but I have just recieved a flyer for a meeting regarding the bedroom tax and it made me think about the houses where I live (council estate), out of the 7 properties including mine 3 are classed as 4 bedroom properties 2 of them only have 2 people living in them and the 3rd only has one tenant none of which work, if they dont want to be affected by the increase I would of thought they would be better off trying to exchange/move to a smaller property, I understand that they think they have a right to stay where they are, but I think on larger houses there should by a claus in there contract which only allows them to stay there until there children are all grown or they are not in need for the extra spare bedrooms (after all it might be there home but they dont have any rights to stay there, because if they did they should of thought about buying the proerty instead of renting it temporary) This should help with the shortage of larger properties in need and people can then afford to pay there rent when they live on there own. I have friends that when they got on the property ladder they had to rent out there spare room in order to survive, and I dont see why someone who does not work, lives on there own in a 3 bedroom house claiming benefits, has any right to say no to the changes, it is not your right it is a privilege that we do have social housing and benefits which is paid for by hard working people, if anything the workers who pay for there priviliges should be deciding who the changes should affect the most.
