  1. Does anyone know where I could get a map that would give me a rough ides of where the various areas of Sheffield are in relation to each other/city centre? I know there's a general postcode map on http://www.haybrook.com/lettings_search , but it doesn't help with details. Any help would be appreciated. I don't live in Sheffield and people offer houses/rooms that sound good, but I have no idea how to find out where Hunters Bar or Nether Edge is, or which end of the road is near the Manor!!
  2. Are you going to explain how you know this? I don't think the post carries much weight without an explanation!
  3. if it was sorted already, I'd agree, but if you have to move in and it's not done yet, then I'd suggest witholding payment until it is sorted. Good luck
  4. I don't mean to be rude, but being told all the slang is only helpful if it comes with an explanation! Thanks for the 'snap' help, but what did I read about 'SPICE'? And what's the reference to 'washing pots'? I'm confused already and I'm a couple of hundred miles away! LOL
  5. I was thinking that too, but thought it would be rude to point it out! lol How do you use the word 'mashin'? Thanks anyway, though.
  6. I was just reading a thread and a phrase popped up that made me realise that moving to Sheffield may require more research! Are ther any typically Sheffield words/phrases that I, as a newcomer, should learn?
  7. My company is relocating to Sheffield. Where should I look for accomodation? I would probably be looking for somewhere near transport links (the office can be chosen to suit). I'd like a local pub and shop nearby, but I'd be willing to take a bus into town centre for a night out. I'll be moving in Dec/Jan, it's flexible, so I have a chance to view at w/ends. Thanks for any help, James.
  8. Hey, I'm not in Sheffield yet, but as a fellow mucker I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep in touch for when I go up for viewings or when I finally move (company relocation). Maybe I could get your advice. We might even know each other already (did you go to the college?) Cheers, James.
  9. you should read your contract, there's usually something in there that allows for one month's notice to be given by either party before moving out/eviction.
