  1. Well, just got a response to my FOI request about the comments made by Julie Grucott on Radio Sheffield in Feb as a follow up to my earlier FOI request about SCC appealing the mandate. Looks like someone was lying on air..................... 1. Has SCC ever asked the govt formally or informally to not remove the mandate. If so then when were these requests made and who by No. 2. Has the govt ever indicated to SCC formally or informally that they would run the scheme if SCC refused to. No, although a failure to implement the scheme would have resulted in a breach of a legal duty, giving rise to risk of judicial review proceedings, complaints of maladministration, and enforcement action by the Office for Environmental Protection.
  2. i know and i agree with you. you are right but anyone coming in that doesnt know the area would have no idea where to go.
  3. where does it say that though. "charges apply, check online" no signage saying what site or what charge
  4. sorry to burst ya bubble but you either missed my point or didnt read what they call themselves. Official names for the Authorities that have an elected mayor as shown on their websites Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (@CambsPboroCA) Greater Manchester Combined Authority (@Greatermcr)   Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (@LpoolCityRegion)  North of Tyne Combined Authority (@NorthTyneCA)  Tees Valley Combined Authority (@TeesValleyCA)  West Midlands Combined Authority(@WestMids_CA)  West of England  Combined Authority (@WestofEnglandCA)  West Yorkshire Combined Authority (@WestYorkshireCA) Only one that has a Mayor uses it in the name..... South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (@SouthYorksMCA)
  5. i stand corrected. but the wage is correct for 4 years ago and is probably above 175 now given inflation and the other parts about the use of "mayoral" still stand
  6. West Yorkshire is not a "MCA". Its a Combined Authority with a mayor There is only South Yorkshire that decided to use the word "Mayoral" in its name, nothing like a bit of ego is there? to the point where in meetings, even internal ones people were told to refer to the organisation as "The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority". But for ref when Ben Still was MD of WYCA before he came to Sheff he was on £160K in 2019
  7. nope, they are salaries iwhtout packages. SYMCA's chief exec in 21/22 (not interim) was paid £180K as a salary
  8. your point is irrelevant to me and many others and ignored basically. feel free to continue. you do know the thread is about opinion on "classes". On a personal basis. i dont have a dislike of JC. I merely challenge Anna's viewpoint that he is the saviour of the UK . I have repeatedly said that as a back bencher he was effective in opposing not only the govt but also his own party repeatedly and that i respected his steadfastness, but as a leader of the party he was an abject failure as he was promoted above his capabilities thanks to the unions. Im not sure where you get the opinion that i dont have compassion for the less fortunate when, frankly, you know nothing about me, my background, or my experience of helping others but feel free to chime in with your usual useless criticism of others, im sure it makes your day go quicker.
  9. but if he's middle class then how can he understand what its like for the working class? Or is the middle class man trying to tell the working class person what is good for them? Thats wonderful socialism for you, we are all equal but me as a middle class guy is going to tell you what's good for you to do Dont forget he is the "underdog" to the upper class so is he working for his own agenda too?
  10. not in Liverpool and its areas they dont Liverpool City council chief exec - £238K Halton Council Chief exec - £173K Knowsley Council chief exec - £202K Liverpool combined authority chief exec - £203K
  11. what about your idol, multi millionaire Jeremy Corbyn, is he middle class?
  12. youve got the PCN so nothing to lose. appeal it asking for where you drove through it and when. then ask them to prove you were driving in air deemed illegal. nothing to lose and if they dont respond within the allowed time period then you win the appeal. I would also check to see what literature they have sent you as i know other people have won because different authorities have put the wrong reference on so its a procedural error by SCC if they have put anything incorrect
  13. Source or just your opinion https://www.c-span.org/presidentsurvey2021/?page=overall https://scri.siena.edu/2022/06/22/american-presidents-greatest-and-worst/ https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/presidents-ranked-worst-best/36/ https://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/statistics/data/final-presidential-job-approval-ratings https://www.southwestjournal.com/best-and-worst-us-presidents/ https://today.yougov.com/ratings/politics/popularity/US-presidents/all (even if you break it down to the Millenials only section he is still behind JFK on a public vote) https://www.usnews.com/news/special-reports/the-worst-presidents/articles/ranking-americas-worst-presidents https://ropercenter.cornell.edu/presidential-approval/highslows (even at his highest approval rating he is 8th out of 15 post war presidents) You wont find Obama topping or getting even close in any of the above whether its academics, historians or the general public Why are you so confident that Michelle would win if she decided to run to state it with such certainty?
  14. Some snowflake will probably find "family name" offensive to those who are alone with no family, may be adopted (as in it causes them stress as their "family" name is not their real family name) or living under a false name for protection reasons
  15. so you are suggesting now that you aska person their religion before asking what their christian name is? Im not a christian but i woull certainly respond in the positive to someone asking me what my christian name is does that mean you arent allowed to ask a female what their surname is as it sounds like "sir" when said.
  16. sorry, as much as i criticise the YMCA this isnt their problem. it was the PTE's originally and its RMBC for the Wood Lane section the BRT scheme has never been officially scrapped (i had a fun meeting with the PM for it asking where the additional bus lane on the Parkway was going to go over the handsworth section which was planned) which is why RMBC / Brinsworth Parish council cannot repoen Wood Lane or until 7 years had passed (which it has now but for some reason they are only looking at it take traffic out of Brinsworth, stupid idea) the bus station could still happen but its Howarth, the developers, dragging their heels. there is still no GP's surgery, Olive Lane the shopping area doesnt exist, the school is getting extended but Howarth stillhavent released the money to do it. all of these were included in the original plans but its the developers holding it up, not Oliver and his trusty gang Wow - what kind of people work at places like this then? Bear in mind there is also academic facilities there and a lot of apprentices straight from school and not driving yet
  17. Not really and i stand corrected against my own post after looking again it has an hourly service from rotherham (73) and realistically 1 bus (7:30 from bus station arriving 8:06) for anyone who starts at 9 as the service is hourly to Waverley and goes to Treeton on the other time it runs. for people coming from sheffield on the 73 again its an hourly service and if you work 9-5 then you will be at Waverley before 8 or at 9:20 as, for some reason the bus has a 90min difference in time instead of an hour at the time workers would use it the most. go figure the other service X74 only goes Meadowhall to sheffield and doesnt touch rotherham. So if you are coming from Rotherham then you realistically have 1 bus you can catch to work if you work 9-5 or 8:30-4:30 and then you have to wait around for a while at work even at full service an estate the size of waverley needs a better network. it was promised a bus station in the orignial plans and to be part of the BRT scheme (which is why Wood lane is "buses only") but that never happened
  18. Given the sensitive nature of the local road network and the SRN [strategic road network] junction at M1 J33, the actions in the travel plan should be revisited to bring it up to date. Thats the reason given. I find it ironic that the council would mention the "sensitive nature of the local road network" considering they are building a M1 service statino at J33 which will increase traffic and at the same time refuse to alleviate the traffic in the area by keeping Wood Lane closed. If the plan is updated it will probably get approved
  19. to be honest there are onyl 2 buses that cover the Waverley estate X74 Meadowhall to Sheffield at 1 an hour Mon-Fri only 73 - Sheff - Roth half hourly in week. for an estate that big and the current AMRC there that isnt a lot and if the application went in with the A1 on it then someone didnt check it and RMBC were right to point it out
  20. the 18-21 scheme was onyl ever going to be a 1 year thing. they decided to extend but was never a long term ticket
  21. 2022 results show the train station, Arundal gate and Waingate are the only areas over 40 The train station results are caused "primarily by the emissions from the diesel trains" - SCC's own clean air report. Or put another way, during the pandemic when traffic on the road was the lowest it could be that monitoring station still returned a result over 40.
  22. to be honest i dont know the answer to that. People are paying without looking into the reasons why. There is no legal reason why anyone who doesnt go past Sheffield station or the Arundal gate/Waingate section should pay because the air at every other monitoring station is under 40. However Bristol is simply writing off fines when challenged over the wording they are using in the PCN's and other discepencies within the process. Including signage on the way in. It may well take one person to take them to court over a fine to set the legal precedent to do this.
  23. the london Mayors own consultation survey in 2022 showed that 71% of people in the outer london areas were opposed to the ULEZ expansion There have been numerous surveys and even taking the most positive ones, not surprisingly run by TFL, there is not one group where storngly support is bigger than strongly oppose - https://citymonitor.ai/transport/londoners-really-think-ulez-expansion There are petitions on change.org with over quarter of a million signatrues. 5 councils launched a legal appeal Your comment is invalid as none can survey the whole populace and you know that but I would bet you cannot find a positive survey for the ULEZ expansion limits are already under 40
  24. Not yet. The govt gave Manchester a revised date of 2026 to implement a scheme. GM has submitted a non charging scheme to govt for review.
