  1. Get your local councillors involved. This sort of thing is in their brief, they're there to represent us, after all. Hope you get it sorted asap. In your uncle's favour.
  2. He won't be able to sit on the planning board when it hears that application or have anything to do with petitions or representations for or against it. Any indication of using his influence as a councillor or planning board member to affect this application, for or against, would be frowned upon. At least, them's the rules
  3. Me https://www.politicalcompass.org/uk2015?name=You&ec=-4.75&soc=-1.54 I'm suprised, I thought I'd gone much further over to the right these last few years, since IS started ramping up the ante. Just shows, you don't even always know yourself, do you.
  4. I worked hard on my extremely reasonable submission, with my one finger typing. There was nothing out of order said on the thread? Where there's discrimination, why shouldn't we bring it to public attention?
  5. Took me 25 minutes to get back to Woodseats tonight leaving Catcliffe at 6.30, heading to Tinsley, shepcote lane and then the ring road. Maybe 15 minutes outside the rush hour, or a few minutes more.. More or less the same going prince of Wales Rd and the parkway. Can't think that anywhere else south west Sheffield would take that much longer?
  6. Be careful in Catcliffe, a lot of it is built on a flood plain and most of the newer ones are in negative equity. Blue Man's Way is a nice little development though. But it's a bit banjos playing out there and not much decent nightlife. I'm not very up on north Sheffield, but they say parts of Rotherham are ok-ish.
  7. I never thought I'd see the day when I was agreeing with Tony Blair, but he's right on this point.
  8. Woodseats and Norton are good areas. Woodseats has a shopping area, access to three parks in the location, loads of eateries and drinkeries, excess of public transport and 20 mins from the M1 via Dronfield Bypass and Chesterfield. An entire new estate being built on a greenfield site just up Hemsworth Rd past Graves Park, too.
  9. I think this is the main point we need to consider in all this. When you think that there have been protests against the arrest of the main man, carefully kept from the mass media, whose side are the Muslims actually on? Other than their own? It could be dangerous to place reliance on co operation from committed and genuinely believing Muslims, because their loyalty as 'real' muslims, is only to Islam. It's part of their religion to lie and dissemble in order to preserve the good name of Islam and other Muslims. Can we trust them to do the right thing, as we see it, in helping to out the terrorists?
  10. Come on, Jonny5, stop playing with them now, if it wasn't so funny, it'd almost seem cruel, like a cat with a mouse ... ---------- Post added 22-03-2016 at 16:47 ---------- From what we're told by the so called refugees and by the media, it's too dangerous to stay where they've come from, yes? So why would a young fit man, set off and leave his wife, children and older people behind to face ISIS or Assad, or whoever the bad guy is meant to be? They could all be dead or gone by the time you get settled in a cushy billet and in a position to send for them. Load of rubbish as an excuse for cowardice or an ulterior motive.
  11. Be careful if handing over an only copy. Evidence can get lost so easily.
  12. Done. I'd just add, it's not the cost of parking so much as finding the different parking zones and areas, esp if you're from elsewhere. The ncp are visible but they are heinously dear. A downloadable map showing car parks and proximity to various attractions would be a good idea, say on the SCC website. Maybe one already exists?
  13. So that family would probably have preferred their house, or they could have been offered the other flat? You sound like the sort wrote the rules in the first place! Jobsworth, stick to the rules, never mind what makes more sense. No time for it, mate.
  14. What's with the attitude here? What it boils down to is that the occupant of a three bed house was willing to go into a two bed flat, and free up a house for a family. Because of the council housing's intransigence, they lost the chance of the house going back into their stock. It would have been nicer for the council and people on the waiting list, not his mum. The council needs to be more flexible with people who are trying to help them.
  15. A mate went years ago somewhere in Mayfield valley. He had to go in with the beginners class. He said it was like being in a Thelwell cartoon . He never went back.
  16. Quik's post #91 makes complete sense to me. Who would really want to go and 'admininster' any of these countries, as tinfoilhat suggests the UN could do? Containment within their own borders and immigration to UK if we are in real need of the skills on offer. I really don't think we are really helping any countries by offering them an easy way out. It's akin to helping a butterfly out of its chrysalis, the butterfly dies. Each country has to find its own way, or fail.

  18. Sorry, but I don't think it's right for anyone. For hygiene reasons alone, if not anything else.
  19. I kiss my younger relatives and my older relatives and hug them, all the time. But never on the mouth, it's just wrong. Sorry to feel that way, but I think most people do, really. They just don't say anything to your face.
  20. I don't think it's us that has the issues, to be frank.
  21. Me too. I agree with the other poster who says it tends to blur the boundaries as to what is acceptable between adults and children. As well as spreading disease, like herpes and the common cold. Just not necessary. The cheek is fine.
  22. Can anyone really argue with post 214 of Zamo's? But first we need to get our country out of the dystopian world that is the EU.
  23. Now if he'd said the Nips ... you might have had a point. Here's the Wiki! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ethnic_slurs
  24. I can agree with all of this, abbreviations being slurs, because it grinds my gears when people call us Brits. If all the others are racial slurs, calling us Brits must be as well. Or is Brit, Aussie, Yank, Paddy, Jock, Taff, etc, all ok because they're generally white? And of course, there are no racial slurs against you when you're white.
