  1. I think you might find that a lot of what is said isn't the truth.
  2. The OPs observation is completely different to my view of Endcliffe. I love the Park, the trees, the river Sheaf, the stepping stones, the atmosphere, the outdoor gym, the Cafe and the people. I am proud of Sheffields Parks and we should be grateful for them. We are lucky to have so many green spaces and managed so well by so few staff it is amazing that they are well kept as they are. Sheffield is a diverse City. It is a public Park and people are allowed to do whatever they like within the boundaries of the law.So dont knock it. If people want to ride bicycles or jog then at least they are attempting to keep fit and healthy so good on em I say.
  3. I may be wrong but I think that in the end , Labours move to go fortnightly might turn out to be a false economy. Interesting to see how it works out and what reaction the communities have to all the changes.
  4. You would have to define what a bad MP is. I guess the the Lib Dems wont want Clegg out in Sheffield. I think the residents of Hallam constituency will be quite happy with what he does for Sheffield.
  5. Rupert If there was a 'like' button re posts, I would hit it. As usual you are the voice of reason.
  6. I came on this thread to try and find out when the welcome is for Jessica. According to The Star it is on Friday evening at Barkers Pool but someone posted a comment at the bottom of the article saying it is today, Does anyone know?
  7. Couldn't agree more. Lib Dem set the budget when they were in control to include weekly bin collections. Labour got in and wanted money for other areas and blamed the cut backs saying there was no alternative but to have fortnightly collections which simply isnt true. Personally I think it is terrible that not only will I have a smelly dog poo bin for a fortnight( have 2 labradors) but also have had the green sack scheme taken away which ( having a populated garden) I will either have to pay for or take garden waste to the dump. Labour certainly dont make life easy for residents, but as you say people are ignorant enough to vote on national rather than local issues.
  8. Re the seperation anxiety, you would think the fact that he has his brother (twin!) with him at all times would be enough! Anyway compared to some dogs they are left only for short periods, ie up to 3 and a half hours. Re the dogs, the breeder said they were show dog and gun dog. All the other puppies were black in the same litter apart from the golden one, Winston. The mother was a gun dog and the father a show dog.beleive it or not the grandparent had been Crufts champion!
  9. Came down again this am to find wee all over the floor and it was only 7am Didnt scold him . Just made a decision that they are from now on kept in the porch which is big enough for them to move around. in.I cant allow any more damage to the house. He has on occasion weed in there before but better there than in the kitchen and dining room. Downside to that it it is glass and they bark like mad at next doors cat sitting on its own fence!
  10. Update Just arrived back from work so find wee in front of dining room door. Dont know what happened as daughter now in bed. Think that crating is the only answer?? The dogs were shattered so it cant be due to them not having any exercise.
  11. Update Both dogs now zonked out after an hours energetic run with the long ball thrower in the park. They look as if they have been drugged! Yes they are siblings. Same litter puppies but one is a show dog and the other a gun dog. It is the gun dog that causes the problems. Thanks very much for all the replies. Watch this space.May crate them if the exercise regime doesnt work
  12. This am at 7am they had a 20 minute walk. They have their main run this afternoon. I am limited with time as work from home. Single parent with own business. Are you saying that dogs who dont have at least 2 hours a day exercise all behave in this way?
  13. Hi I am here! There is an adult meeting for people with AS this evening at The Autism Centre from 7pm until 9pm.This meeting is once a month. The next one is on 29th March at the same time and place.
  14. Ok So I have been in the house with them all morning but had to go very briefly out to local shops. They lived in the dining room with an add on kitchen but I dont allow them in the kitchen due to trying to keep them away from food and dont want hairs on cooker etc. Just returned to find that the lino has been pulled up away from fitted kitchen and corner of it chewed off. Very expensive lino. I am quite angry. What is the right reaction. I scolded the dog and said BAD DOG. In a very strong voice. Some people say that you should ignore it but that feels wrong somehow. If I cant resolve this soon they will have eaten away my house. Problem is that the house has got to be saleable and I have to keep it in a reasonable condition. Already bottom of oak kitchen has wee stains on and I cant seem to remove it.
  15. Can you tell me where to get this from? Skinners I mean? Thanks
  16. They are fed just once a day now in the morning. They are extremely muscular fit dogs. No excess weight at all. They dont have any other food, apart from the occasional dog chew.I give them the cigarillo type as they take a while to chew. I am very strict with them in that respect. Re the events, it varies. But it happened more recently on a regular basis. I do agree that they are bored. I do play with them and so does my daughter (16 years) when she is in.Its just that I felt that judging by their fitness they get exercise and I didnt consider that they arent walked enough.Maybe Im just not up to it as I do everything I can for them on the limited resources and time that I have. I too am quite fit so it isnt as though they are unhealthy in anyway. Anyway thanks for all the tips and I will hope that more walking and maybe a change of food again might help.
  17. Ok Thanks They have Purina at the moment. Not sure if this is okay. They salesperson at Pets at Home said it should be.? Dont have a crate large enough. Trouble is my budget is so tight at moment so havent got lots of cash to spend, but thanks for advice. They did have a crate when they were puppies but of course that is far too small now.
  18. I work from home so apart from the odd occasion when I am training( I am trainer and advocate) I am available for these dogs. When I am out I employ a dog walker. The dogs are walked usually in the morning about 15 minutes, in the afternoon (4pm)usually about 40 minutes with a long ball thrower in the park, but if I am busy just a 20 minute walk. They then get let out before we go to bed (in the garden).Yesterday they were so tired they found it hard walking back home. They have had toys and still do have them but are bored. Most of them have been eaten. The indestructible ones that you put treats in the middle and the tug of war ropes I still have. they do have each other for company and are not ever left longer than 3 and a half hours on their own. I have gone to the shops for just an hour and come back and they have eaten part of the furniture. The other thing the dominant one does is he scratches at the downstairs door when he wakes about 6.30 to wake us up. I never know whether this is attention seeking or desperate for the toilet? They are both neutered.
  19. I have 2 labs, just over 3 years old. For a while I have had intermittent problems with one of the dogs, the dominant one with soiling in the house. They are walked very often. At about 7am, about 4pm and then let in the garden before bedtime. I usually take them to the park for the afternoon walk but sometimes if I have other things to do they just get a walk around the block, about 20 minutes. I am up at this unearthly hour as I have been woken by scratching after Winston the dominant one has weed and pooed all over the kitchen and dining room. This has gone on for a while and I dont know what to do. I bought some spray to stop the scent and as I said I walk them often so dont know what to do. It is affecting my life so much as I find it all very stressful. I wish that I didnt keep them in the house and wish I had some outdoor structure as they have basically ruined much of the furniture and chewed so many things and all this soiling is making the house smell. The other dog Monty doesnt seem to have a problem, it is the dominant one. I have tried different reactions when I come down, from ignoring to scolding him but is makes no difference. Any advice would help. I cant afford a dog behaviourist, nor can I afford to construct an out door shelter.
  20. Hard to believe that there are people who are STILL talking about spending our way out of this mess. Incredulity springs to mind.
  21. Shame though when this Labour controlled council are refusing money from the coalition that was intended for ensuring we do have weekly collections. LABOUR’S HIDDEN COST OF CUTTING BIN COLLECTIONS REVEALED Liberal Democrats on Sheffield City Council have revealed that local taxpayers could face previously hidden costs of more than £1,000,000 if Labour councillors go ahead with their plan to cut black bin collections to fortnightly. The Council’s waste contractor Veolia is entitled to ‘cost of change’ payments as a result of changes in policy. This would require the Council to meet costs such as redundancy payments for the estimated 40 staff who would lose their job and the cancelling of leases on waste wagons. Council officers estimate these costs would be at least £500,000 and potentially more than £1,000,000. This would negate much of the £2.4m Labour councillors claim would be saved next year if Sheffield moved to a fortnightly black bin service. Last week Labour councillors announced they will slash local bin black collections to fortnightly and end a key recycling service, turning down millions of pounds from the Coalition Government to keep a weekly service. Cllr Ian Auckland, Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet member for the Environment and Transport, said: "This shows Sheffield’s Labour councillors haven’t been totally honest when it comes to their claims on savings. Labour have known about these costs all along, but they have chosen to hide them because they know it undermines their entire argument for slashing bin collections. “We are calling on Labour to come clean on the full implications of their policy. Local people still have many unanswered questions. But what is clear, is that this unpopular move wouldn’t save as much money as Labour claim. Cllr Shaffaq Mohammed, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group on Sheffield City Council, added: “When you also consider that Labour councillors are pressing ahead with their plan despite the £250m Government fund on offer, it is becoming increasingly obvious weekly collections could be kept if there was the political will within the Town Hall.” ENDS
