  1. thanks for that like I said earlier I was concerned for her I am not a softy I see people like this every day but usually in town centres and they are begging, she was in a village and asking for nothing, what I didn't say earlier is we went home and put some food and bottled water in a bag also some food for the dog and drove back to her,my wife gave her the bag and she thanked my wife,at that time she didn't even know what was in the bag but she was so greatfull, she was not drunk and was quite well spoken, not many people tug at my heart strings infact this is a fist for me I usually just think sort yourself out and get on with it.Ive never given to a begger ,she was not begging but looked as though life had delt her a bad hand, dont regret for one minuite what we did I would rather help someone in my own village than send money over sea ---------- Post added 09-05-2015 at 20:24 ---------- thanks for that like I said earlier I was concerned for her I am not a softy I see people like this every day but usually in town centres and they are begging, she was in a village and asking for nothing, what I didn't say earlier is we went home and put some food and bottled water in a bag also some food for the dog and drove back to her,my wife gave her the bag and she thanked my wife,at that time she didn't even know what was in the bag but she was so greatfull, she was not drunk and was quite well spoken, not many people tug at my heart strings infact this is a fist for me I usually just think sort yourself out and get on with it.Ive never given to a begger ,she was not begging but looked as though life had delt her a bad hand, dont regret for one minuite what we did I would rather help someone in my own village than send money over sea
  2. It wasn't late it was about 7.00pm she was at the bus stop just below the shops and not waiting for a bus, just having a rest as she was having trouble walking, didn't seem to be under the influence of anything just looked as though she had walked a marathon and as for how do I know she was living rough you would just have to see her yourself.
  3. I only informed the police because I thought she needed help not because I thought she was a threat to anyone. For all I know she could be a missing person that some parents are trying to contact.
  4. Saw a woman on birley spa lane tonight who was clearly sleeping rough she had a dog with her and was carrying a load of carrier bags and draging a flight case behind her, she was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a grey huddy with a khaki coulered jacket she did not look in good health,I have reported this to the police and I think if anyone sees this woman they should also contact the police just to inform them of her whereabouts as i think she might need some help,I think she was heading down on to shirebrook valley to sleep rough for the night
  5. Does anyone know where I can get Morris minor body panels from I need a n/s front inner wing and a o/s rear wing
  6. Thank you for your response. We will add your suggestion to the list.
  7. For anyone who is unable to attend the consultation event on Saturday, please feel free to post your ideas on this Forum, via this Thread and they will be put to the Group. Thank you.
  8. Consultation event on Saturday 5th November 2011 11.00am - 1.00pm Outside the shops on Birley Spa Lane We are a group of local residents from Hackenthorpe, who have got together to form 'The Friends of Hackenthorpe Park'. We want to improve the area on Birley Spa Lane (the old Rainbow Forge School palying field) which is currently a children's play area and surrounding trees and grass land. The area is in a bad state and tends to attract anti social behaviour. We want to make an area that can be enjoyed and used by young and old alike. We have managed to raise awareness of the need to improve conditions with local Councillors and departments within Sheffield City Council but we need more residents to get involved and we want ideas from you; would you like to see allotments, five a side football areas, skateboard jumps, memorial of some kind? Whatever you would like to suggest or if you want to help us - please come along to the consultation and information event on Saturday 5th November 2011 between 11.00am and 1.00pm outside the shops on Birley Spa Lane where representatives from the Friends Group will be there to listen to suggestions and explain what has been done so far. All age groups invited to have your say and we especially want young people to come along.
  9. Just wondered what other forums people use and if they find them as good as Sheffield Forum?
  10. Went into the Rutland Arms last week to have a nose at the place. Excellent job, very very homely. Cant believe it was ever shut, looks and feels so comfy. Nice place to relax at the end of a working day, proper old fashioned pub with a brilliant juke box, loads of music. Plenty of good ales to choose from and top service from Jo and Andy at the bar! Food was nicer than I expected, home cooked chips - agree, the best in Sheff - along with HOME MADE BREAD no less!! Glad that someone heard the cry from an earlier post "There must be some publicans in the city who could see the potential of the place and keep it's 'traditional' character"? I for one am glad someone did!!.........Call in, see if you agree?
  11. We live in Hackenthorpe and could hear it so much that we called the Police at 4.10am. They said they had already got reports and were dealing with it and that it was coming from the Darnall area. Anyone any further info?
  12. I agree with all the football fans and think they should park outside the mosque and see if they get a ticket
