Its a combination of both. Miss an appointment, dont take up an "opportunity" and its an automatic sanction. Each sanction is a longer than the one before. On the other hand the staff themselves make errors. Cancelling appointments without telling you, not explaining that when they send you on a course you are still expected to sign on. You can appeal but this all takes time like everything in an organisation that is too big to know what its own parts are doing. What i found was that staff expected me to know the processes. I'd not signed on for thirty years. Why would I know?

I painted over my kitchen cupboards, also a dark wood, using international cupboard makeover paint, its been on three years and is great. I also used a roller for the main expanse with a little brush for the detail.

Recently single but not wanting to date. Im sure I read somewhere that there is a social group in sheffield who meet up in the city just for friendship and some activities. Does anyone go? Cant remember the name of it. Im 50 (just) and not ready to stay in everynight knitting, nor though do i want to go pub crawling. Done all that years ago.

My whole house is full of refurbed furniture. I dont think ive actually bought anything brand new for a long long time. I could have but I dont want my place to look like everybody elses. Initially it was because I had no alternative financially, now its because most new products are of such poor quality Id rather buy/find something second hand that is of a higher standard and do my own sweet thing on it. I also do the recycling in full, make my own jams, cakes etc. There is of course the fact that shopping does not appeal. Cant think of anything worse.

Rentokil sell a fluid that you actually fill the holes with, its a painstaking process and you need to do it every year. The season is April and October when the worm fly but to be honest unless the furniture is of any value id burn it too. If you decide to treat it, check the floor periodically to see if there is any dust/powder under item. If there is the worm are back and it needs another treatment.

Was invited to a meeting as an outsider, so cant say where, but this organisation were running surveys for standard of service given, progress reports, measuring targets achieved etc and it seemed to apply to many many departments. Each subject raised seemed to have some unit reviewing it. My suggestion. abolish all questionnairres, all unneccessary paperwork, all duplication and just do the job you are paid for. Our nation is drowning in paper.

I temped for Pertemps, Sue Ross and Sewell Moorhouse this winter. It was great, I was offered jobs, learned loads about different systems and enjoyed it generally. For me the stress was getting to and fro. It was hell. Of the agencies i would have said Sue Ross would have got me the most work had i been available to take it. It was good money, although i dont think the permanent staff were impressed that I was on more than them, nor the employers themselves cos they couldnt seem to get it into their heads that i only got two thirds of that. Biggest hint, cos it caused me grief was make sure you resign after each assignment if you switch agencies or it messes your tax up. I made sure i got my P45 after every job after they whacked me on emergency/full taxation. If you like to own your own time its the ideal way to make a living, you just go when you want to. Id been out of the officefor a long time and going back was useful, it reminded me that my brain did still function but that i dont want to do office work again long term.
