  1. The government tries to justify inadequate schools and incompetent teacher by suggesting parents can 'choose' what school there child can go to. realistically it should be stated only children from higher economic backgrounds can attend good schools!!! The reason why parents apply out of their catchment area is because they are told they have a choice of which school their child can attend. I would be worried if so many parents were trying there best to get there children into good schools by applying outside of their cathchment. the problem is there are only a few good schools in sheffield. there should be more good schools for all children so they all get a fair start in life.
  2. I has my appeal on tuesday, it was terrifying. I am also awaiting a reply... very nervous. If the appeal has not been over turned im going to home school my child, as the allocated school is not good at all. I went to have a look round and it didn't even look like a school - it would be so unfair to send my child there. I have my fingers and toes crossed.
  3. Hi i also have a child who is now three and a half and started off very early with the behaviour which you mentioned. I know my child did not get seen at the rygate centre until he was three, as any earlier could be classed as the 'terrible twos' or just behaviour which could be grown out of. Just so you know if you do get referred to the rygate centre it is a very very long process. you have to go back several times with a couple of months between each visit to ensure syptoms are consistent. you could definately get advise from your GP. Once your child is in nursery much more help will be available.
  4. I think you would have to be down as living with her for like 6 months or something, have your name on rent book etc. But if you wanted to but it i think they have strict rules that you yourself would have to be living there for so many years... Have you looked on council website?
  5. I applied for schools outside of my catchment area, thinking if i was rejected for all three she would be sent to the local school. However this was not the case. she has been allocated a place out of catchment area and not one of my preferences. so i have sent in an application to appeal one of the schools i was rejected for. Im going to look round the allocated school see what i think, incase appeal is not successful. The OFSTED repoty for the allocated school does not paint a pretty picture. I didn't look around any of the schools before hand as it would have been a waste of time, as allocation is kinda look of the draw
  6. What do people think of step moms and dads? In some cases find it worrying when people jump in and out of unstable relationships with their children after like the first date. However if one of the biological parents are not around a 'good' step mom/ dad could be very beneficial to the childs life experience. If a relationship has broken down between two parents and they both go there seperate ways, and either mum or dad get a new partner do you think this is good or bad for a child? Lets say for instance the father has sole responsibility of the child and the mother is irregularly on the scene. If the guy got into a new relationship, would this then be seen as positive as the child would have female role model around? What do we think? should new partners have a specific role in a childs life?.
  7. I attended court today to arrange for my son to have regular access with his father - suprise surprise he could not be bothered to turn up!... It is fine for him who does not work, as he can get legal aid due to being unemployed :-(
  8. oh i didn't know that. Im going to give them a ring - knowing my luck i will be bottom of list. Are you going to try and appeal? were you in the catchment area? which primary did you want?
  9. Why are you trying to dictate what i am sayin? The third option is do what they can within reason... I guess this would include without physically harming another child. To be honest murdering a child would never have crossed my mind - what kind of a sick person thinks of such a thing.. As i will conclude no change of opinion for me (and it is my opinion which i a right to) All children should be given a good education, we should not punish parents for trying to do their best. ( for mentally ill people - doing their best does not include physically harming a child)
  10. competing children at uneven starting point is my point.
  11. INSANITY. You are talking about murdering children, How sick are you. No wonder you do not care about children getting a fair start in life.
  12. Not all parents can afford to live in the catchment area where good schools are.. I totally agree that parenting starts at all, and failing schools are partly to do with some of the children who go ( due to behaviour/parents role). However it is not the case that all children who attend these schools have unsupportive parents. Some parents are really supportive but cannot afford to move to the catchment area of a good school. I do not take back my statement, lying to get your child into a school does not solve the problem that children are not given the same opportunities. Yet calling the authorities because someone is trying to do the best for their child is a wrong... I think there are a lot of good teachers out there, but schools which have harder to reach pupils can be off putting for teachers. These schools tend to be allocated newly qualified teachers and have a quick turn over. The government knows this is true as at present they reward the 'best' teachers who take on more challenging schools.
  13. Where did you get murdering from? My point is the system is wrong not the individual parents who are trying to work the system to ensure their child gets a fair start in life... Why do so many people go through life with their eyes closed? Just because someone in authority says it is wrong does not mean this is the case. People should stick to their morals (if they have any) and not be puppets to the unfair/ prejudice system...
