  1. Thing is i cannot get into windows hence me wanting to format the hard drive and reinstall windows xp but why should something like that be making my pc turn off everytime i try to install windows?
  2. The HD and CD are already on seperate cables as the CD drive is SATA.
  3. What should the settings be? then i can check.
  4. No it cannot be the XP disk as i have tried a friend's to see if it does the same so it must be the pc itself.
  5. I looked at it again just now as it did it again, when i am in windows setup it loads all drivers, then get's to KBDUS.dll and then the whole pc shuts off, it's weird as it does it in that same place everytime.
  6. I only have mouse, keyboard (tried both ps2 and usb) sound and monitor connected.
  7. Just tried a different keyboard, still doing the same thing, didn't think it was the keyboard.
  8. No, i didn't think it would make a difference, i just don't understand it, never seen anything like it before but i will try that.
  9. I am trying to format my hard drive and install windows xp, i changed the boot priority to cd-rom and it says press any key to enter setup when the pc first comes on, it comes up with the windows xp blue installation screen and lists all the drivers etc but when it gets to the keyboard part, something called KBDUS the lights flash on the keyboard and my computer just goes off, it instantly shuts off and after repeating the process several times it always does it on the keyboard part, why would it make my pc shut off? is this a major problem? Cheers.
  10. No already tried that a few times and doesn't boot in safe mode.
  11. Ok will do that then, but why is it switching off after failing to load windows up?
  12. Thing is though i have gone back to the original motherboard which which installed when i installed windows so surely i wouldn't need to reinstall windows? It's doing something else now it is turning off after trying to load up windows.
  13. Just switched the motherboard back over, the noise has stopped but when it tried to load windows up it restarts itself and starts again only to do the same thing.
  14. Yes the noise is coming from the speaker on the motherboard but i presumed that meant one of the hardware components was playing up or something?
