i understand that companies dont HAVE to renew your contract but what if the reason for not renewing was apparently due to lack of funds. However you know that when your contract expires they are going to hire another person to do your job. The real reason they wont renew your contract is if your employed longer then a year then they have to give you certain rights. (not sure but ive heard they might even have to offfer you a perm position) where would you stand legally on that?

The concept of passive smoking was invented? surly passive smoking does cause illlness. agree with rest of post though about minimum prices benefiting pubs, but on the other side of the arguement surly if the brewers are happy to sell at the cheaper prices then its up to the customers to decied if they want to buy it or not. It shouldn't be controlled. We should be allowed to make our own decisions and if some people want to abuse it thats their problem and shouldn't affect the majority of us

Why do a lot of posters feel the need to insult and belittle peoples intelligence on here? Quite often when someone gets a fact wrong, misreads something or god forbid submits a typo they often get replies along the line of “well those of us with intelligence can see what XYZ was talking about” followed by the little smiley doing the twirly thing with their finger. (for some reason wont let me do it on works computer) Because to be honest it just makes you seem small and petty and ironically, not that intelligent. You don’t need to attack someone’s intelligence to prove your point or make yourself feel superior. Just construct a good fact based argument and trust that people are intelligent enough to agree with it. What do others think?

Not sure if this has been mentioned but the Muslim protesters are probably shooting themselves in the foot as i bet the BNP gained a few more votes from their actions and the coverage of it. Unfortunatly.

This happened a few times at the shop i worked at. If we knew they were buying the booze for minors we would refuse. And yes we did get a few threats and idiots kicking off and that but our security guard was good. i guess there were times we sold booze to an adult who was buying on behalf of a child but if we didn't know then theres nothing we could do.

I used to work in a shop and the police once sent in these two young lads to buy beer. They were obviously underage, their hair or make up hadn't been done. i asked them for id, they didnt have any so i said no and sent them on their way. They definatly were underage and there didn't seem to be any attempts to make them look older. Also my sister has worked for the police trying to buy cigarettes when she was about 13/14. She wasn't made up to look older either and if asked what her age was by the shop keeper had to answer truthfully. In short i dont think there is any 'entrapment' and the shopkeeper can only blame themselves if they get caught selling age restricted products to minors.

i may have read that wrong and apolgise if so but are you saying that because he was black then he was up to no good. In this situation the colour of his skin is irrelevent (apart from the fact it made him harder to spot) Not all black men are thugs. If you were to encounter one at night you have no more reason to be scared then if they were white.

I used to work for a supermarket where the smokers had to smoke at the front of the shop. We had a back shutter where they used to be able to smoke but the managers put a stop to that because they would get to cold in their office. So They all had to light up in front of the shop. Made no difference to me personally but i would have thought the manager would have been more image conscious as having a load of staff at the front door puffing away doesn't make it look an inviting place to shop.
