  1. AHH but Sam is only a baby and hasn't been going for 3 years!!!
  2. :D:D Max passed the Kennel Club's Gold Good Citizen Award last night. What with all the trouble we have had recently I was in two minds about putting him in but now I am really proud of him. Bull Breeds can learn
  3. It seems stupid that vets don't take insurance as payment but as I found out with Max some insurance companies will do anything to avoid paying and vets have been caught out by this, if you need help with moving on a claim pm me I am a qualified lawyer so maybe able to put pressure on the insurance company. Poor Max I hope he is getting better as I type,
  4. Poor Max wishing him all the best today
  5. Fingers crossed everything goes well at the vets today
  6. How is Max today, feeling any better?
  7. I was in the park early with Max walking round as normal when a conker dropped on the ground by Max. He picked it up (I thought he would eat it so tried to get it off him as might make him ill) but no he wanted to play with it and whats more insisted I throw it for him everytime I threw his ball:loopy: Carried it right round the park (ball in one side of his mouth, conker in the other) playing with it as he went. He can fit 4 tennis balls in his mouth but managed to get this conker round without swallowing it or damaging it!! So I have spent x pounds on toys for him and it seems what he has always wanted was a conker
  8. Hi turns out I can't come this weekend so its no good me picking somewhere!!! I will honestly try and come again soon.
  9. I can make Sunday if its early and this side of Sheffield (don't want to commit to a long drive as my right hand keeps playing up!) Evie, I plan on bringing Max to agility on Saturday so may see you at the hand over.
  10. The vets on Halifax Road by the White Horse (Abbey something I have only being going there for 4 years!) do a monthly scheme it £11.67 for my Dogue De Bordeaux a month (its more expensive the bigger the dog and he weighs 35kg). It covers the injections, worming, fleas, two health checks a year and gets you 20% of all other vet bills.
  11. How far is Eckington Woods from Hillsborough. Thinking about coming (arm permitting) but can't drive too far in traffic. Went dog training for the first time since the incident (!!) last night and Max was just really pleased to see all the other dogs! I was awful but he behaved himself
  12. Thanks rachelV people were trying to catch him but he didn't have a collar on so it was a bit difficult. He was so friendly just kept giving everyone kisses, just didn't like Max (I think it may have been my nerves at having a large dog approach that set him off!!). I think I have seen him in the park with his owners and his names Scooby but not sure as Scooby was always with his owners and had a collar on. Sorry I don't know where Scooby lives so couldn't go and check!!
  13. If anyone has lost a Rottie with a tail he is running around in the middle of Hillsborough town centre. He looks very well cared for and someone must be missing him. Also was very placid with people but didn't like my dog (and with everything recently I am afraid I rather went to pieces and hid in a shop. I only just got my stiches out!!) Oh and a big thanks to the man, woman and shop keeper who helped me out when it all got a bit fraught!
  14. Just to let everyone know that unfortunately I am ok:hihi: Hands and arms healing well (and my bum:loopy:). Plus Sandy didn't do all the damage Max did his fair share but I don't believe either meant to bite me they were just fighting Have I learnt my lesson not to use my hands to split up a dog fight? Probably not but I have learnt that Max is an only dog. He is fine out and loves to play with other dogs but he does not want to share his home (or me) with another dog. I think more training is necessary just so I completely trust him again but I will never chance another dog in his home again. I still love Sandy and don't blame her she was just defending herself unfortunatley she was better at defending herself than Max was at being a bully Personally I hope she gets another chance but as long as the person taking her is told her full history and is experienced with difficult dogs. From having her here for a little over a week she was a lot like Max, she craved love, wanted to be the centre of attention, and didn't like to share. However, unlike Max she was easy to train which is why with one to one attention I feel she could be helped. Even my Dad was surprised what a lovely dog Sandy is (and he went to the kennels hating her as Max can do no wrong in his eyes!). Finally, I have a few big thanks to say. Fristly Sarah for coming to the hospital and not been sick when you saw my arm and going along with my sick sense of humour by taking pictures and everything else you've done! Thanks to Nigel for helping me out that morning without you I dread to think what would have happened and Netherlands for giving Max a bed for the night, and lastly thanks to Evie for picking me up from the hospital Oh I suppose I ought to thank my Mum and Dad for traveling up from Felixstowe and looking after me for two weeks (but then again you're my parents its what you signed up for )
  15. They aren't bothering to repair the lights the ones along the path from leppings lane tram stop to the childrens play area were smashed last summer still not repaired. So I doubt the half a dozen they have smashed last week over on the far side by the sports ground will be repaired either.
  16. That's just what I was going to ask, what happened to the dog???
  17. What a pointless post! As a dog owner who uses Hillsborough Park I am amazed by the behaviour of children and adults in the park most seem to have no respect for the other people using the park and carry on as if they own it. Far from causing mayhem in the park my dog has on at least two occasions made it safer. First when a group of older kids decided to beat up a younger kid who was on is own. It was about 6pm on a summers evening and the park was packed with kids playing football (organised games). Not one of the many adults present went to help the younger kid who was screaming in pain/fear (and there were some big men around). So I braved walking over. The older kids saw me coming and ran away not because I was approaching but because the lady with the ******* big dog was coming. Had I not had my dog they would not have run. The second time was a Sunday morning and a young physically fit man was jogging round the park with child no more than 5 following on a trike. A man in his 60's entered the park and accidently bumped into the jogger. Jogger went mad, threw the man to the ground and was going to hit or kick him whilst he was on the floor. I shouted at him to stop and got a right mouthful including did I want some of the same. He only changed his mind about continuing with the attack and possibly attacking me when he noticed the huge scary dog running towards him. I have never seen a man run so fast (oh and with no concern for the safety of his kid). My dog did not attack just stood guard over the poor man on the floor. The man who had been attacked was most grateful that we were in the park that morning. Dogs aren't all evil and neither are kids. The truth is people seem to have forgotten how to get along with each other and want their own way all the time.
