jimbob55 replied to mickymouse's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I live opposite,,no fire, no bomb squad..........traffic on dual carriageway as normal, police and firemen walking in and out at leisure.decontamination unit set up, looks like dangerous chemical find -
was down there earlier the chopper was further over, nearer herries rd i would think. i would think the number of accidents caused by rubberneckers is considerably more than 7. 8 would be my guess. but the number of accidents caused by internet rubberneckers must be much much less, probably 6.

Where to get placemats printed with a collage of old photos?
jimbob55 replied to Saff's topic in Sheffield Photography
hi Saff firstly you need a decent quality scan of the photos so that they can be printed onto the mats, photographing very rarely gives a good image unless the camera has a macro facility and even then is a bit hit and miss. I,m sure that any photographic shop like Jessops as previously mentioned by strix would do this for you. How long is it till you need them? I only ask because my daughter is disabled and next week will be attending St Wifreds centre on Queens Rd where we went last week to look round, and they actually have a print machine that does place mats, whether they do that commercially or not i dont know. I,ll be going to the centre with my daughter next week and will make some enquiries. -
Names of "houses" in Sheffield schools
jimbob55 replied to BAZZO's topic in Sheffield History & Expats
went to Norfolk School 65-70, houses then were named after steel manufacturers Tyzack ,Firth,Osborne ,Neill(mine, everyone in Neill house wore an orange badge, cant remember the other house colours) -
yes i too can remember Nora, Cyril and "lockjaw" as we used to call him, there was also a guy who we saw regularly round the bramall lane/shoreham st area that we called "boxer" as he would be constantly ducking and dodging as if he was in the ring.
