  1. Yes we used to take our glass bowl on Sunday afternoon to the diary(carn't remember how many scopes we had) and buy the most fabulous ice cream from this lady(don't forget those thick chocolate wafers). Our Jean used to work in their freezer shop on Bellhouse Road which she ran with her husband and sons. Jean would be able to supply additional information
  2. hi yatesace, I used to deliver papers for Mr & Mrs Yates who had a shop on Petre Street. I belive they had two sons and lived on Torbay Road. Any relation? I delivered papers thirteen times a week from being 12 and collected the paper money on Saturday mornings from the people on Whiteways Drive - slave labour or what! - I used to get 12 shillings for taking the papers and an extra 5 shillings from collecting on Saturday ( used to get good tips at Christmas)
  3. It was only a night to rember because my friends came to call on me to come out, my father would not let me as we had been watching the fire, so I threw my bowl of fruit at him and run like the clappers (what a bad girl).
  4. who remembers the pattern shop on carlisle street going up in flames? what year was it? a night to remember! I know it was a Sunday!
  5. As promised Ralph a few words. The evening was lovely, so nice to see neighbours and people from school especially the two Terry's (didn't realise Terry was a popular name in the late forties). Looking forward to the next one. Thanks to Ralph for the photos. Thanks to Sheila for keeping me informed of the reunion dates. Our Rosemary will try and make the next one. Dommi remember me to your Christine.
