    Cricket

hello everyone! The cricket season has started again and the weather has returned to normal for easter.....cold windy and damp so don't cast off the thermal underwear yet!!! I think that cricket is taken a little bit too seriously and I was wondering if anyone who plays ,or has played cricket , had any comical experiences to share!!!
  2. There must be some way for the parents to proove that they cannot go at anyother time except term time. If my memory is correct I'm sure that when my parents could not go during the school holidays I had to take a form home for my father to fill in.This would be back in the 1960's can anyone else remember this ? I don't think the cost of holidays should be the excuse.I'm sure that a week out of term time (if that is the only time the parents can get time off work) should not do any harm to the education of a child. P.S. If the parents should end up getting fined who or what will get the money?
  3. Has anyone ever has the chance to be an extra in a film? I was one in a film called" Heartlands" about a darts player. It was very hard work but very interesting. We filmed for about 11 hours but the part on film only lasts for about 3 minutes. I never watch a film now without thinking about how many retakes they had to do. I have never seen the film since. And I wondered if any of you had seen or heard of it. Kate Rusby the folk singer is in it.What a lovely lass she is.
  4. We live at Bradfield and we see alot of weird lights in the sky. I think they could be car headlights but who knows? Surely we're not the only intelligent(!?) beings in the universe!
  5. What made me really mad was the fact that there is no ''cooling off '' period for these extra cover items. This is because my hubby signed on the dotted line on Carcraft premises in front of a salesman and we cannot back out of itI have tried.I phoned the Citizens advice and I was told that the government are trying to stop this sort of agreement. If ever this happens then I don't think Carcraft will be very happy!!

Abbeydale is not central enough.Bramhall lane has a great history of cricket. My father in law, Bernard Wragg, was a great cricketer at Bramhall Lane.He first played there in his teens he is now 78 years old and only finished playing cricket 16 years ago.!!!

Hi there!! I agree with most of what you say. I believe that in this country the government do not allow schools enough money to start cricket at an early age . Our club juniors start at about 9yrs. There is the Qwik Cricket played in schools and it is quite competitive but it is very tame ( played with soft ball)! I think that the older players should step aside and let the younger ones play. But they are reluctant to admit they are old! Of course another advantage of Australia and other countries we compete against they have the weather to enable the sport to be played outside all year. This must be an advantage over indoor nets!!!
  8. You can get info from Bradfield Parish Council, Low Bradfield , Sheffield S6 6LB
  9. That is very true.Unfortunately at Carcraft They sell you the car and then they make you sit in a little office while you wait for your car to be brought around to you.And they try and sell you this 'extra' cover for this that and the other! After 3 hours of waiting (what for I do not know!) we were totally worn out!I left my hubby alone in the office with the warranty salesman and he fell for all the sales pitch garbage, hook ,line & sinker!!
  10. Yes! you are right! They are very pushy and my hubby got well and truly ''pushed'' Unfortunately they just don't want to sell you a car .They insist or ''push'' on to you extra cover and warranties which are not nessessary. The cars they sell are OK! but I shall never buy one from them again.
  11. We have recently bought a new(ish) car and we are very pleased with it. But what I'd like to know is . ...Has anyone out there ever bought a car from a car supermarket and driven it away within one hour!
  12. The police don't seem to have got things right at all. I was walking through Hillsborough with my grandson and we were stopped twice by the "truant police". My grandson was off school quite legit. They asked him for his name and address ,school and class. They did not asked me for any about myself. What if a child is with a person it should not be with? I would think that the hard truants (who should be dealt with) would hand around in gangs , not with their GRANNIES!!!
