  1. Wouldnt life in rescue be fantastically easy if all there was to do was feed cats and empty litter trays? So, every morning approximately 60-70 cats are fed, watered and medicated. So that's 4 with renal failure, 8 with cat flu, over 20 kittens to catch and weigh. Then the litter trays, one per cat, washed, disinfected, dried, refilled and restocked. Then its the cleaning, every room, every pen, every inch cleaned daily, no exceptions. Then to the vets for the daily visit. Then washing each used cat carrier, 60 fleeces, water bowls, toys etc. Next comes more feeding for the younger residents. Perhaps its possible to take 30 minutes for lunch Then its the final checks on each room as well as another feed time for kittens. Opening time! Then as we close its time again to feed 60 cats, medicate poorly ones, collect any from the vets, make sure everyone is safe and sound, and ready for the next day. I'm sorry you felt you didnt have a good experience, but as others have said, opening times are stipulated for a reason. And the welfare of the cats in our care is paramount, not their adoption status.
  2. Yes Jan if you can grab one...we will take it, definitely. Do you think they would be enticed into a carrier with food or anything?
  3. If anyone can help to trap these then that would be fantastic. Even if you can grab a little one separately then that is fine. Our trapper, Maggie is ever so busy so I'm sorry its taken a while. I am a manager at the cats shelter. Please call us with any further details.
  4. Please if everyone could keep an eye out for this cat. 5. This little one is safe with the shelter, no signs of her being pregnant. She has flu symptoms though so will be treated, neutered, chipped and vaccinated and then will be ready for her new home. P.S - no chip, checked thoroughly.
  6. Hi all, posting this on behalf of a friend. Murphy has been missing since yesterday evening (9/1/13) He never usually strays very far, and has never stayed out overnight before. He is 3 years old, neutered, chipped and is wearing a red collar. http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/5116/murphy2years.jpg Please everyone in the area look out for him, his owner is worried sick. Any sightings then call or text Kim on 07754853878 Thanks guys Emma ---------- Post added 11-01-2013 at 22:34 ---------- Murphy returned home this morning, a little worse for wear but safe nonetheless.
  7. Aww very interested in the tree there!
  8. We have around 50 cats with us at the moment, so to think of each one is quite difficult! the best thing to do is to come down and have a look, meet everyone . Its a really lovely place. What do you have to lose?
  9. Please visit the Sheffield Cats Shelter in Broomhall! We are back open tomorrow for adoptions and have lots of lovely cats and kittens ready for adoption
  10. Different wormers deal with different worms, so that could be tried in the meantime. As has been said on your other thread, many many kittens (over 50 of my fosters) have been done safely at 1kg. They recover ever so quickly. If her nipples are very small and pale, she's probably not pregnant, or not too far along. Leaving her til she's 2kg may well allow her pregnancy to progress to far to spay.
  11. A lot of vets will neuter at 1kg, so that would be your best option. The rounded tummy could be explained as worms though, so treat for those asap with a good wormer.
  12. Try the Cats Shelter, they may be able to help 0114 272 4441
  13. Hi there, have you thought about going to a rescue? The Sheffield Cats Shelter in broomhall currently has lovely kittens available. If you take with you proof of ID, and tenancy agreement if you are renting, then you would potentially be able to take home the kittens on the same day.
  14. Just wondered if you can take small electricals? I have a box full of 'home' stuff like tea, sugar, coffee containers and things for you. Just finding a moment to bring them up .
