  1. I have been to Icons alot and I have never felt "uncomfortable" at all, and I have been at different times during the evening. You should give it a try instead of listening to "other people", but thats you choice, the drinks are much cheaper in Icons than in Demps as well ---------- Post added 25-02-2014 at 12:16 ---------- Which place charges £5.80 ?... I dont think I have been to that one. Need to add it to my Frulli pub list Wick at Both Ends on West Street is also £5, but you will be lucky to sit anywhere, place is always busy.
  2. Its not mega expensive at all, £5 is the going rate for Frulli.... proper Frulli drinkers dont mind paying that amount of money, I am guessing you are not a Frulli drinker
  3. On either Friday or Saturday I can drink about 3 or 4 pints of the stuff, I love it and looking forward to spending more time in Icons now. ---------- Post added 21-02-2014 at 12:23 ---------- Good news for both nights, guess who you be seeing more of now
  4. It is always best to check facts before posting
  5. That is a questions no one can seem to answer. Another question - why wont the gay pubs all work together, but we know that will never happen. Lets see what Twist/Fuel bring to the area. Icons are trying something new in draught beer, upstairs is going to be open during early evenings as well, with another pool table up there. They have a quiz nights on a Wednesday. (something new) But I am sure people still wont be happy, they never are. But then what is the ideal pub/club ? what does everyone want ? what is it that is making people go futher afield ? why dont they support the gay scene ? (it wont grow if they dont support). Is it the pubs decor putting them off ?, lack of atmosphere ? drink prices ? door charges ? pubs too far apart ?
  6. Its not advertised as a gay pub anymore since it changed hands.
  7. The people who have been have not had good reviews. Not sure if things have improved since, I might try it this weekend. I am sure I will post my comments of the night.
  8. I have to agree here with you. I cannot wait for it to open as Mullberry tavern, already has better choices of drinks and you never know we might get some heating now.
  9. I agree with Andy and Squadron, it was destined to close down, the owners never did much towards the last few months, and the place was always empty when I went in. Its as if they just "gave up", which is sad really. Now you are lucky to even get a drink in there, my last trip yesterday night they had no draft beer/lager at all, and offered me a can of Fosters instead, lets hope they get some drinks in for the closing night. It was excellent at Campo Lane and I was accidently at Icons last night for the "Campo Lane Renunion" which was busy and faces you dont normally see.
  10. Its a shame you dont bother to go and support/watch her, you keep ranting on about her, but never support.
  11. That has been opened as a gay club for a while now. ---------- Post added 10-01-2014 at 12:18 ---------- Sheffield doesnt have any local talent so thats why they go further afield. You already know this as we discussed it the other night over a drink, gosh you memory is terrible
  12. We were discussing this last night and we thought it was odd, you bring your own booze and pay a £7 door charge. Who would want to pay £7 and then have to bring your own booze, surely you would be better getting your own booze, drink it at home, and save £7 Has to be one of the strangest nights I have ever seen.
  13. Yes it is being renamed - Twist/Fuel and turning into a gay venue. All we know is it is sometime early this year. 2 floor, 1 a bar and 1 a nightclub.
  14. Apart from The Old Monk there is Graduate, The Museum has a screen for football. Cavendish on West Street but not sure about the real ale in there. The best one for football is Champs but that is on Ecclesall Road though, and they have a few real ales.
  15. A good point you make here, if people are saying negaitive things you would think they would take these comments on board and try to improve things. How true this is of late, the amount of people who support Icons have had backlash from Demspeys for supporting them and also the "you are now barred" attitude which stinks. You would have thought with a new gay bar opening (Icons) they would work closely with them, but alas they dont seem to be. I wonder how they will feel once Twist/Fuel opens up in the Boardwalk which is a stones throw away from Affinity and Icons. Affinity and Icons listen to feedback, shame Dempseys doesnt. Maybe because they are long established place they dont need to work with anyone, as people will go there anyway. Sorry if this sounds negative but it is what is currently happening.
  16. I have lost the will to live on this thread, so confusing. Anyway .... did anyone see the BBC3 documentary on Payday loans, it is on BBC iplayer. Must say it was quite shocking.
  17. I cannot see anyone beating Adam. Tonight 2 ... well I would have sent both home .... neither are a patch on the first 2 who qualified. They both thought the kitchen would be a doddle .... but it showed they couldnt hack it.
  18. I am not shocked it has made 4 pages, I thought by now, we would be on page 100. Obviously to some on here it is a "big deal" ..... sometimes I wonder if we are still in the 90`s. Anyway he is bisexual, not a gay man, so this time next year when he isnt in the news he will be married with a woman
  19. So he is bisexual then ..... gosh I am sure alot of men in this world are bisexual. At least it will boost his calendar sales.
  20. Well all the negative comments on here, is no surprise to me, I had a feeling after it opened yesterday there would be a barrage of negative comments, I feel some of you have no lives and just sit on here being negative all the time..... no shocks there (you wont get a comment back from me if you quote me, I have no time for negativity on here) I went yesterday and its tons better than the crappy Castle Market we had, which was 50 years behind the times, so outdated. New one is nice and clean, I like everything being on one floor, the area at the bottom of the moor yesterday was busy, vibrant and packed...... hope this continues. Moving the market down there I think is a great idea. I shall be going back again.
  21. Do your friends go early evening ?, if so it is usually quiet as I have been in at those times, cheap drinks though every night.. Not sure whats happening here but not much lager on now, 2 have been unavailable for a week, hopefully they have them back on now, again fairly quiet early evening. Why not start something Plus this is happening as well : https://www.facebook.com/#!/lovetwistandfuelsheffield (this is bound to get the negativity/moaning people going again There is also this as well : https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/197629307091440
  22. I have had a look at the map route for freebee bus and it does go along the bottom of the moor.
  23. I cannot wait for it to open. Jump off the bus from work ..... cross over the tram tracks ..... pop in to do my shopping ..... pop back out and on the tram saves so much walking now.
  24. I have yet to come across a train station that has any kind of bins.
  25. I am sure if they wanted to blow up a train station they would find other locations, like the toilets, or other hiding places, like in a suitcase. I want my own bin
