  1. Of the ones I tried (25) none I have found in any Sheffield pubs, plus a lot of the others which I didn't get round to I have never seen either. I went on the Wednesday and Thursday evening and had a great time, it was busy both nights, and very friendly people serving the drinks.
  2. http://www.mapmywalk.com/gb/sheffield-eng/round-sheffield-walk-route-239507
  3. I noticed no prices for the ales can be found anywhere on the website.
  4. I am not finding him much good, not sure if it is the stories or the other doctors were so much better. If it wasn't for Clara It would be dull. She is stealing the show so far.
  5. Yes it should be a busy weekend, the posters are on Facebook and nice to see local drag queen : Drag Diva Lola Saturday night and Krystal Lyx Balls on Sunday for games.
  6. Yes I think everyone is missing the point here, it isn't replacing giving change. I was on the 52 bus last night and a woman got on with a £5 and the driver said he had no change as he just come on, and said he would issue vouchers, she got off the bus, I am guessing she waited for the next one, although giving £5 for a 70p journey is a bit stupid IMO. This was a stagecoach bus. In Edinburgh their bus services do not give change, they state this and if you over pay by 10p for an example you don't get it back. Obviously they must have been doing this for ages as everyone who got on the bus had change, no silly £5, £10 etc etc.
  7. well another season starting so the code for this year is ; 160642-45450
  8. It seems to be turning into a music festival, which is a shame. The venue is in the wrong place, why move to a smaller venue anyway, very confusing, or is the Devonshire Green - the "place to have music festivals". There are loads of parks where this even can be held. ---------- Post added 03-07-2014 at 13:01 ---------- I am guessing they raised no where near that, or even contributed anything, only the pride committee know this answer. I didn't go either, and I know a lot who didn't go to the Devonshire Green. Enjoy Leeds
  9. I think that is part of the problem with the acts, I saw the list and went "who are these", maybe the SPC (sheff pride committee) aimed for acts to attract the younger population, as the older more mature people wont have heard of them, or maybe the artists were "cheap". Less said about the Pride March the better, what a shambles, set off 10 minutes late due to no floats arriving. Yes the walk was longer but not many people in it, waste of police time, this really needs better organising next year, it would be nice to have the Sheffield gay bars take part in the march, a bit of advertising for them. I went to Leeds pride last year and there is no comparison at all. ---------- Post added 03-07-2014 at 12:52 ---------- I do know that the Viaduct bar do a collection for the event and they make this last for months, such a good way to raise funds. Maybe Sheffield gay bars should do the same, have collection tins in each pub so people can contribute throughout the year. ---------- Post added 03-07-2014 at 12:55 ---------- Now I was sat in a pub whilst the event was on in West Street and I overheard a couple of people talking about Devonshire Green and saying what was going on, someone thought it was "Peace in the Park", whatever that is, they didn't know it was Sheffield Pride. The people on the next table overheard and they didn't know either. maybe the black bin bag effect round the 3 sides threw them off, who knows.
  10. I am having same problem as well. Only sites which seem to work is facebook, BBC and this place.
  11. Sounds to me they only catering for the students, so all the student go home and guess what, they are now hardly open. Maybe Fuel need to do some research and they will find there are people in Sheffield who are not students, obviously they don't want our money ...... more for Icons then
  12. I think their motto this year, read it somewhere, is local talent. Not sure this is a good thing, as the line up is a "who the hell are these artists" Leeds have a much better line up and that's FREE. Guess where I will be this year
  13. Have you tried WHSmiths, they are giving them away free if you purchase something from the shop. That's where I got mine from
  14. Just out of town at Crookes there is The Ball Screens inside the pub and 14 real ales. Also they have a screen outside which you can see, it is shaded from the sun. Beehive is another one, 4 real ales. Screens everywhere.
  15. Was it, I thought it was £5, I could be wrong, I didn't go last year. I didn't fancy being fenced off behind what looked like black bins bags on Devonshire Green.
  16. Sheffield pride tickets are on sale, a price hike this year, it was expected really. http://sheffieldpride.co.uk/ticketing/ Dont forget Pinknic is on 24th May and this is FREE https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sheffield-Pinknic/281501705349185
  17. I thought they would have given it more time before deciding when to open and close esp when the gay scene in Sheffield is soo fickle, its needs time.
  18. Plus the location is right next to a bunch of bus stops, and I know when we went there people just stared at you coming out. Fuel have confirmed they no longer open Monday and Tuesday`s and opening times have changed to 8.00
  19. Looks like from what I can make from the FB page, website doesnt have anything on at all about opening times, that it is now only open Wednesday to Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday, probably found no one went or very few. The did open from 5.00 but thats now gone to 8.00 with happy hour for 2 hours (8 to 10). Details are very vague on FB to say the least.
  20. You would definatley have to book for Red Deer, everytime I go in there is never any tables. They do great food as well.
  21. Beehive Varisty Old Monk I know Maggie Mays have a large screen now
  22. I have been on West Street during the week and some of the pubs are quite busy, probably got to do with the football they show (Beehive, Cavendish, Varsity), how many of those who go up West Street are LGBT people is impossible to know, I dont see any unless James you know more LGBT peeps than me ---------- Post added 08-04-2014 at 12:44 ---------- Its definately closer to walk from Fuel to Icons, than Icons to Dempseys. You can even get a tram now from outside Bankers Draft to opposite Icons, if people wish to travel that way. ---------- Post added 08-04-2014 at 12:45 ---------- Why dont you ring Twist/Fuel and ask them if they have sorted the cloakroom out.
  23. Well me and Roger123W (without his dog) went to Twist on Monday gone. I wanted to see what it was like during the week, as this is the time I would be going. Our impression is thats its a big place downstairs and we sat in those comfy seats, which is good for us >30 OLD people (referring to other posts about 30+) Although it was karaoke night, I am guessing that wasnt starting until later in the evening, we left at about 830 ish time. Not sure if it got busier in later on but there was only 5 in when we left + 3 bar staff, which seemed alot for a week night, anyway they need to practise pouring pints, but I am sure they have worked that one out now. Priced cheaper than Dempseys, but thats not hard tbh. We left after one pint, and headed to Icons (well I did, Roger123W went somewhere else) and that was busier... had my pint of Frulli in there, and a good natter.
  24. Very positive comments Aaron, you feeling well My only concern is this place came and went many many years ago, I hope this time they decide to stay. As for an alternative to Dempseys, well I havent been since Icons opened, and to be honest I dont even miss the place. No doubt the opening night will be packed, opening nights usually are, but as the gay scene is soo fickle, I hope the people support the venue, I am guessing alot wont though, they never do. I wont be going, as I dont do opening nights as its a bit false, I like to see what the venue offers during the week, and this is when I shall be going.
  25. Since you went in on Friday .. what was it like ?
