I don't think it's a single silver bullet solution but rather a whole series of policy initiatives, hard work and luck by police and intelligence services in catching people smugglers, as well as issues such as climate change and wars (i.e. the drivers of asylum seeking) being resolved.
-
Allow asylum seekers to work and to contribute then! It makes perfect sense, we have a shortage of labour, many asylum seekers are willing to work - let's put the two together.

Not in so many words. Up until this moment, and even yesterday the Prime Minister said his Rwanda plan was in essence humanitarian because it will help prevent tragedies of drownings. But Habib went way beyond what any politician has done and said that he would leave people to drown. There's no way that isn't a dog whistle to racists.
-
I know, and what's dangerous is that he's the first politician who has come out and said "I would rather people drowned to death than be able to potentially seek asylum in this country". I wonder if there are other politicians watching and waiting to see what the reaction is, and if it's not received too badly, they to can join in the fun of watching people die for votes

What eventually happens when there is nothing left of the barrel to scrape:

Oh dear: Lee Anderson mocked for mistake in bizarre St George’s Day post (msn.com)

Hackey, the mob you voted for have pretty much ignored everything which was in their manifesto, or even done the exact opposite. I don't think I've read a single complaint from you on here about that! Do you think you might be guilty of holding the Labour Party to a higher standard than the Tories?
-
Yep went on their website and found this: 10 Labour policies to change Britain – The Labour Party
-
I must've forgotten about that. RIP But nevertheless this craven attitude to the Tories by some irrespective of how barrel scrapingly awful they've sunk really needs calling out.
-
Is that because Axe has nominated himself to be Tory Party's Mr. Shoeshine?
-
You really are a turnip.

Sure it's had luminaries of the likes of Ted Heath, Rab Butler, Derick Heathcote Amory, and Harold Macmillan. However when you have the likes of Chris Grayling, Gavin Williamson, Priti Patel, Suella Braverman, Liz Truss, Boris Johnson, and Lee Anderson all occupying senior positions in the party in recent times - that's going to take the sheen of any party and render it gutter worthy in most people's estimations.
-
I wouldn't even trust them to tell the truth about what their contacts said.
-
Really, if it was more prestigious being a Tory MP, why are they trailing in the polls, and regarded with contempt? But I'll admit I am fascinated who you think it's more prestigious being a former Tory MP - where's your evidence?
-
Aside from those that are retiring because of age; many have announced they are standing down early because of the rules which govern MPs going into the private sector.

I'd not even considered that. You make a fair point. -

It would be ironic if snooker did go to China on the back of moaners Hossein Vafaei, because at certain times of the year, the pollution is so bad people can barely breathe, and visibility is massively reduced. Oh well, at least it doesn't smell. -

Would that be down Abbeydale Road, Ecclesall Road area? It would eventually be very popular as a hell of a lot of buses go down those roads - but can you imagine the consternation caused by the disruption....
