  1. Would that be down Abbeydale Road, Ecclesall Road area? It would eventually be very popular as a hell of a lot of buses go down those roads - but can you imagine the consternation caused by the disruption....
  2. I agree it's performative nonsense, but for some weird reason it's like catnip to right wing opinion formers in some parts of the media.
  3. Well we all have our opinions, and I'm not afraid to articulate mine.
  4. I've got another 14 years of graft to do before then!
  5. Good for her being a champagne socialist. There's no contradiction between drinking Dom Perignion and being a socialist. Dom Perignion was a Benedictine monk who along with being an important quality pioneer for Champagne wine, also devoted his life to tending to the sick and poor. So what better beverage for socialists to drink than champagne?
  6. Well I think she's lovely. Normally doulas work with expectant women, but they must be branching out into working with the dying, which is a very positive development. Can you imagine being at the end of your life, and Priti Patel, Suella Braverman or one of the other Tory vampires, charged with looking after you? They'd unplug your ventilator, just so they could charge their mobile phones up.
  7. I don't think there is a Green Party thread, so nowhere else to put this; however in this day and age of cynicism about politicians being greedy so and sos, putting their purses before their constituents; I read with interest of Caroline Lucas' plans after she stands down from Parliament. She intends to become an end of life doula. ‘They’re patronising, arrogant …’ Caroline Lucas on fighting the Tories, leading the Greens and leaving parliament | Caroline Lucas | The Guardian A big thanks for all the work you've done in Parliament Caroline, you're an exemplar 👏
  8. There may well be. In the original article you have to hover your cursor over the red bits of the text to see any further links to things like you mentioned
  9. Not really sure where to put this, or if it should have a thread of it's own; but even an old cynic like me is genuinely shocked at this revelation: Leaked NHS figures reveal 15,000 died in care of mental health trusts in one year Exclusive: NHS figures leaked by whistleblower suggest more than 15,000 patients died in care of community mental health services in just one year – with desperate families forced to ‘beg’ for treatment from overstretched medical teams https://www.independent.co.uk/news/health/nhs-mental-health-deaths-leak-b2526944.html#comments-area
  10. Could be one to keep an eye on: Tory researcher charged with spying for China https://metro.co.uk/2024/04/22/two-men-charged-official-secrets-act-offences-20694077/#:~:text=A parliamentary aide for the,'Chinese spy' in March.
  11. I heard an interview with him on the radio and he admitted that he purposefully went looking for trouble. He was indignant that the police didn't want him to come to any harm by saying that: “You are quite openly Jewish, this is a pro-Palestinian march, I’m not accusing you of anything but I’m worried about the reaction to your presence.” Sorry but he should be grateful that the police thought enough about his safety to warn him that he might come to harm if he walks into a pro Palestinian march. I'm sure he'd have had plenty to say if he walked into the march and someone was violent to him. I'm shocked that so much news media has been given to those calling for Mark Rowley to resign.
  12. Part of me laughed when he complained that it "smelt bad"! God he ought to take a walk around Sheffield, or indeed many places in this country to realise how some people have degenerated. But then he said "You walk everywhere around the Crucible and it smells really bad. As a player I’m honest, it’s just really bad. Everything’s so bad. You go to other venues in other countries and you see how nice they treat you. How nice everything is. Everything is shiny." Everywhere is shiny, really? I think he should grow up and get into the real world. As far as I know he's not a millionaire yet.
  13. He's caught himself out again! One of the perils of having one too many usernames
  14. What's 'debri'? Did you mean debris? Oh dear, Axe falls flat on his face while attempting to insult others.
  15. Bone idle? Says the bozo who cheerleads for the most idle PM in history 😂 And as far as I know the only person in history who received Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh was Jesus. Good to know you equate me with the son of God.
  16. Yes, and if the police hadn't have intervened to prevent Mr Falter from walking into a potentially dangerous situation then they would've been criticised. In this situation the police were damned if they did and damned if they didn't. However Mr Falter could've used his common sense and taken a different route to keep himself safe. However that wouldn't have generated the headlines which I suspect lies at the heart of this 'story'.
  17. I've told you before that West77 was booted off this forum for his snide, bigoted posts; and more generally laughed at by other forummers who thought of him as the village idiot
  18. Absolutely is awful. What kind of a $h1t-weasel Prime Minister decides to cut a programme to help disabled people get back into work, just as the time they are cutting disabled people's benefits. Disgraceful.
  19. Nobody is bigging Westy up. He was a craven little toerag.
  20. Anyway bang up to to day, it's being reported that Mark Menzies is not going to be standing as an MP at the next election. I think he's had quite enough of being locked in with "very bad people" without having to deal with the parliamentary Conservative Party. I wish him well. He sounds like he needs professional help.
  21. What Would Gordon Gecko Do? Spot a gap in the market and open a traditional fish & chip shop.
  22. Sunak's new sick note policy is working:
  23. So what's better in this country than it was 14 years ago when they took over?
