  1. Sorry to mention this but Mice and Rats Defecate as they move, they pee a lot, try and keep work surfaces, cupboards, cup's plates etc where you think they may have been clean with a good quallity surface cleaner hot water and fairy liquid.
  2. Tuesday May 15th Elsecar Heritage Center Toy Fair starts at seven o'clock plenty of parking if you do not know where it is go through Chapeltown up over the motorway keep going turn right just before the railway bridge and follow the BROWN signs, also the Antique center it's self has old boy's toys for sale. Good luck.
  3. Furniture shops, J Lewis, Barkers, Ponsfords, Atkinson’s if you want quality, DFS, KC sofas Wayfair furniture, Ikea for functional cheap and cheerful, second hand ware houses or charity shops British Heart Foundation in the centre of town seems the best, pay’s your money and takes your chance.
  4. Thanks for that I have contacted Streets Ahead and Sheffield Council about this usless link it needs removing as it's miss guiding the public, the Cold Weather Resources thread needs up dateing too.
  5. I am trying to find out if the main roads are clear following this link to Sheffield’s street cameras doing as it askes but nothing is working, why can we not get access to the street cameras any more, if so why is this link still here should it have been up dated it says, Quote “ To see where a camera is located move your mouse over the selected camera number “ done that nothing happens anyone know of a link that works? Can I ask why has my post has been moved from where I first posted it, the link I refer to is not on this posting it is on, Cold Weather Resources, it takes you to the Council page but it does not work you cannot get any further thats why I ask has anyone a link that does let you see the street cameras.
  6. Sad isn’t that we have an open forum with freedom of speech and people still knock it.
  7. OK, if that is the case BT will stand the cost if the road had to be dug up for their purpose and not SCC, I live two doors away from what they were doing and you could not see from Saturday to the following day any cable being laid down before the tarmac was re-laid so it is anybody’s educated guess why lift so much tarmac just to relay it the following day.
  8. Totally correct I haven't a clue why they were digging up so much road surface that was the nature of my post a waste of money and the nature of this posting is about SCC wasting money this being another example as you could not see any purpose in what they had done apart from lifting tarmac and then relaying it also I did not say BT were wasting money as these two guy's were working normal hours and not the weekend, the other work force were subcontractors a firm called Steads even if they were wasting money the council still have to pay them for there services there for I can only make an assumption that the purpose of there exercise was to do with BT.
  9. Correct two BT guys on Monday, Saturday and Sunday both weekend's twenty in total counting directing traffic, even though traffic lights were in place, drivers of four lorries, tarmac digger machine, tarmac layer machine, road roller drivers, 2 of them and then the men working putting down the tarmac men cleaning up afterword’s and of course the road sweeper and low loader too take the machinery away and of course the supervisors in their clean yellow suits with white hats, yer I would say about twenty over two weekends working just mornings. Reasons to do with the job well I expect there could have been but an area the length and breadth of one and a half busses to lay a bit of cable, expensive cable.
  10. Was this a waste of money, Chapel Road Chapeltown was resurfaced in 2017 the weekend before last starting at 8am a section of this road was taken up just the top four inch, this took them Saturday and Sunday morning, last weekend starting at 8am Saturday and Sunday morning it was all re-laid again it was not a small area but the width and breath of a fair sized road junction the only sign of work men was on Monday two guy’s from BT working either side of the road, why dig up so much road for a BT cable it must have cost thousands in men machinery and tarmac.
  11. The one in Wombwell is Vinyl-Junction 42, Barnsley | Record, Cd & Tape Suppliers 1 Prospect Terrace, Wombwell, Barnsley, S73 0BF. it is off the beaten track right in the center of Wombwell next to the Doctors Surgery very nice couple Denise and Jon well worth a visit.
  12. If you go to the Antiques Center in Elsecar there is a dealer there who has a metal chest half full of old Silver plated and normal old cutlery meat set's and fish set's some still in their display cases, selling for pence, charity shop's will take them and cash them in for scrap shame really because if you look at them, and some are very ornate, there is history of the lost cutlery manufacturers of Sheffield.
  13. Thank you gentlemen for your input, Admiral Law inform me that whether you choose to use a garage of your own choice or one suggested by Admiral you still have to pay the excess and then they claim it back from the other person’s insurers and reimburse me, forms to fill in receipt for proof of payment, takes about four weeks, just needed your opinions before talking to Admiral.
  14. Recently my car has been in a three car shunt we were stood in traffic and rear-ended by a car that was rear-ended by a young lass who say’s she never saw the bright red car she shunted into me admitted liability in front of witnesses on the spot and her insurers have acknowledged this, the damage is not great but three day’s work in the garage, the thing is I have to pay the excess on something that was not our fault now I don’t mind if it was under different circumstances but not like this. My insurers have said if I use a garage of their choice I pay nothing, not even the excess, my garage say’s you have to pay it regardless of who you use and you can claim it back, who to believe. So my question is can I claim the excess back, how and from where I presume from my insurers Admiral, any one come across this.
  15. The letter may not have cost that much to produce and post but why waste time/money? Do you ever look at the quality of the letters you receive not the context but the print they are automatically computer produced in bulk similar to anything sent out by large companies the only thing added is your address and hospital reference gone are the days when a secretary would send you personally a letter, so one clinic would produce it’s patient letters all in one go so yours may have been the one that was held up in the post or your file did not get to the right place at the right time for the letter to be produce and sent ok it wastes time and money but if everything and everyone did it spot on at every twist and turn we would live in the perfect world, yes.
  16. There is a underground Hospital on Thorncliffe in Chapeltown built for the tank factory which was bulldozed over in the 1980’s to stop vandals getting in, I went in there when I worked on Thorncliffe in the 1970’s, at the end of the B6028 Ecclesfield road, known as Woolly Wood bottom just before the terrace houses on your left there is a mound with retaining walls believed to be something to do with 1950’s civil defence for the gas works, in Barnsley as you go down Sheffield road towards the Alhambra centre turn left on the A6133 in that area at the back of the Silkstone Pub there was a fallout shelter you use to be able to seen the entrance and radio masts is was for Barnsley council filled in and long gone now it’s a housing estate, above Upwell street in Grimesthorpe Sheffield on the high banking there are still the concrete mounts for the Ack Ack guns that covered Tinsley and Meadow Hall during the war, on the Hunshelf area of Chapeltown if you dig through the under growth there are the mountings for the guns that covered that part of the valley leading to Tinsley.
  17. Simular with RHH letter it came about an appointment same first name and last even same year of birth but different day and month very apologetic about it I mean we are all human and make mistakes that’s why they put tag’s around your wrist when you go in for treatment let's not knock the NHS to much they do a brilliant job under a lot of pressure.
  18. Depends how quickly you want them but sea side joke shop’s do still sell them, there are three joke/party shops in Sheffield, London road, Division Street and Ecclesall road or try here, Armona-trading, Bart Brugman, 5 Greenbank Athersley North, Barnsley, South Yorkshires, S71 3RS, United Kingdom they advertise joke stink bombs on eBay, up to you. Try 1970 ooooh Matron
  19. In addition who are the same morons who leave rubbish at the Asda recycling bins in Chapeltown we all know what these areas are for so why do people insist that they have a right to leave mattresses, telly’s, unwanted broken toy's, and even food waste, yes it was all there it say’s this area is under CCTV but where’s the camera there is only one for number plate recognition for parking at some point the Asda is going to get tired of this miss use and close it down, apparently talking to the Council guy's who were cleaning it up Morrisons was just as bad, who are these people who have no respect for the amenities the Council, Asda and Morrisons provide.
  20. There is a toy fair at Elsecar Heritage Center on Tuesday 12th December, 30 stalls selling nothing but toys old and new starts at 5pm till 9pm, all dealers not charities, not saying they will have what you want but if they are that popular one dealer may have some, the next big toy fair is Doncaster Race Course New Years Eve, 10am to 4pm. Best of Luck.
  21. When they redid S35 pavements they lowered the curb corners / bends and stuck down a sort of knobbly plastic / rubber mat supposable to help people with mobility scooters get on and off the pavements I have noticed these are slippery when wet before we have had any ice and snow, anyone else noticed this.
  22. Had Smart Meters fitted in 2015 by British Gas appart from a few Hic Ups on getting readings I now pay £100 per month for Gas and Electricity and the last quarter statement I was £59 in credit this is for three living in a three bed all electric with a gas boiler in a semi in S35, the credit has been for the last few years paid back into our account at the end of the year and you start from fresh for the next year. Just ask if you are having BG that they are fitting the NEW generation smart meters as the first generation meters do not work very well, sounds daft but they don't talk to each other so readings don't get sent.
  23. Some one came up with this when I was a lad back in the 1950's It's not the cough that carries you off. it's the coffin they carry you off in. Alway's come's to mind at funeral's.
  24. Tried the Council before for flag stones to widen my drive way told they are reused or recycled, B&Q or others like this don’t sell strong 3x2 flags managed to get new from Allendale’s builders supplies Hoyland and delivered for a small fee, better than ruining the car springs, I think they were £6.50 each.
  25. If you want new put in Surgical Instrument Makers Sheffield it give's six companys in Sheffield.
