16 minutes ago, Chekhov said:I must confess I did not even realise it was 2019, that was a different world*.
Why the effin' hell are they doing this now, 5 years later ?
It reeks of political motivation, as well as supreme virtue signalling.
*It actually was different world, before the Covid suppression induced craziness of BLM and dumping statues in harbours......
I've got COVID..
I just need Train Window and Swimming Pools for a bingo.

Just now, Al Bundy said:So people shouldn't be able to discuss it?
Can do for all I care but it won't change, will be worn by the team and will be around for a few more years.
So if people don't like it, don't buy it

Don't like it, don't buy it.
No more needs to be said.

They are already
13 minutes ago, Anna B said:The camps could contain the problem and educate and assimilate aspiring UK citizens at the same time. Learning the language, our way of life, maybe a trade, etc.
Why are you assuming that migrants can't speak English or have any skills for trade?
13 minutes ago, Anna B said:Needed trades / professions could get a quick route into paid work. They in particular would be an assett to the country.
We have visa routes for that already

I would argue with that.

Are we a Christian country now?
There's no 'now' about it.
We've been known as a Christian country for a long time.

Why has she not been jailed?
Apparently she's getting income from Only Fans half of which goes to debtors..
Who on earth is paying her money on Onlyfans?

21 minutes ago, Chekhov said:I was always led to believe, and run my own business on this basis, that successful businesses provided good customer service.
You may like all this but I can assure you most people (including the employees) do not.
And as a small business owner (or anyone with half a brain) you'd know that good customer service encompasses more than just being able to speak to a staff member

Ah the old "most people" trope.
I'm sure most people (and not just you and a random employee) actually enjoy the instant on demand services, just like 'most people ' using Amazon.
And guess what? If "most people" didn't like it, businesses wouldn't use it....

The end result is the same. Profits go up as does unemployment.
Businesses need profit to survive and employ more people.
People still become employed but are focused in other areas....
Which is why you still have staff in McDonald's
-
4 minutes ago, The_DADDY said:So it's as I said. Big business is pushing it to increase profit and that will be at the expense of people's jobs.
There's a difference between pushing and adapting

11 minutes ago, The_DADDY said:Laugh all you like. But tell me, if No one is pushing it how and why is it happening?
Is it....
1. Aliens?
2. AI?
3. The customers?
4. Magic?
5. Something else?
It's happening because that's how successful businesses are run.
Unless you expect offices to still use typewriters, supermarkets to use old style cash registers and fast food restaurants to use pen and paper to record orders.
Technology advances and all businesses have to keep up.
Not everything in life is because of an 'Agenda'

23 minutes ago, Chekhov said:We went into Taco Bell up at Hoyland today and I must say I was shocked.
Gone is the counter where you dealt with a real human being and the staff were behind them making all the meals. Now there is just a full height wall with two screens built into it.
It used to be that as you ate at the tables you could see the staff behind glass screens (and, of course, they could see all the customers) but now that screen has been painted over.
I hated it, it's even worse than McDonalds, and that is bad enough.
Interestingly we were talking to one of the staff and he said he did not like it either.
Who is pushing all of this and why ?
Do they not realise that humans are social animals (most of them anyway.....) ?
And does anyone actually like it ?
We are already in a dystopian world......
No one is pushing anything.
It's called the advancement of technology and Fast Food.
Gone are the days where you need to wait in line, struggle to read the menu on screens behind the counter, decide what you want with a q behind you and then relay your order to someone hoping that they've understood and get your order right.
Now there is a computer that gets your order right (depending on whats put into it), telling you how far away your order is, when it's ready leaving more humans to create your order. .
And yes I like it. My order is always correct, I can see it being prepared.

9 minutes ago, Axe said:Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. Small business owners can choose anyway they want to run their business providing they are breaking no laws or workplace legislation. Chekhov does not need to learn anything and is one of the few genuine honest contributors on this thread.
Absolutely. If he and his employees want to laugh at people, freely say they'd like to shoot someone that's fine. But they can't complain if someone overhears and decides to take that further.
But as a small business owner reliant upon customers, I'd probably employ standards and leave my sense of humour at the door.

1 hour ago, Chekhov said:I would say in every workplace I've been in **** taking is the number one method of having a laugh, by some distance. And that would be inadmissible to "Sheffield Forum".
If we took an another member if staff it would be essential we could have a laugh with them, if they were like SF it just would not work at all. Unless he was extremely insensitive he'd be desperate to leave and we'd be desperate to see the back of him so we could get back to having a laugh.
That's how you run your small business.
Larger companies, organisations, civil service employ more people and have standards and customers to keep.
You can't expect what works for you to work for every else. It's high time you learned that.

35 minutes ago, Chekhov said:Effectively censored in our own private world. I am shocked, literally, at how many people on here appear to think that is a good thing.
I have repeatedly asked if the authoritarians on here really would like to be able to censor people's very thoughts, I doubt they'd deny it. I admit I have not read all the replies, have any of them denied it ?
Don't worry. Thoughts can't be censored. Unless we have the technology to read people's minds.
One less thing for you to get literally shocked over..

1 hour ago, Chekhov said:The bottom line is I am sick to death of being told what to do, and even told what to think, by these Orwellian virtue signalling authoritarians.
Being told what to do = 'Laws'.
If you want to break the law, that's fine but you have to deal with the consequences.
Being told what to think = No one is telling you what to think and no-one can police that. Its when you start to verbalise those thoughts which can contravene the law and again, you deal with the fallout.
Stop crying because you can't just do whatever you want and expect the world to be OK with it.

11 minutes ago, El Cid said:Its the Governments fault, for having no evidence that they will be good Christians.
The Government need to issue guidance to the courts and the Home Office, proof needed, because most people lie when desparate.
You're assuming this doesn't happen.
Why do you think Asylum Interviews are conducted?
-
9 minutes ago, El Cid said:A 24-year-old Palestinian citizen of Israel is to be granted asylum by the Home Office on the basis that he has a well-founded fear of persecution if returned to Israel.
The Home Office has now accepted that any Palestinian returning to Israel would fear persecution and would be granted asylum!
