The Derbyshire BS withdraws from house sales
Sheffy2008 replied to theoilguy's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
And who will bail out nationwide? http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2008/sep/08/banks.mortgages You and me with our taxes. Quote 'job losses'. Not such a good thing afterall. -
Just put house up for sale...
Sheffy2008 replied to Hopskotch's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
I agree with you Vicky, but sellers have had it good for many years now. Everything changes. Buyers have been getting stuffed for years. The only good advice I could give is simply whatever you may think you'll lose by drammatically lowering your price now will be 50-70% more next year. There are predictions of 60,000 job losses every month for the coming years and banks simply have no longer got money to give away. These are conservative predictions. -
Don't be daft Tony 'Returning liquidity'.....:loopy: You haven't been paying attention.

Yorkshire home loses 65% of its value
Sheffy2008 replied to Sheffy2008's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
Was that to me? 'Renting is dead money'.....nice one. With falling house prices and rising interest rates on the horizon, and my savings firmly in a high interest account, I am very fortunate to be renting. Just think 25% falls by the end of 2008.....and that's just a conservative estimate from an estate agent. -

I have no idea what you mean, but even estate agents are calling for 25% drops before the end of 2008. http://www.estateagencynews.co.uk/goodman_articles/mgood0908.asp Not my words. Don't blame the messenger. It's not all bad news though, if you're house is worth less, you may get the council to lower your council tax band. Good for renters. -

Thanks teacher, but PONDS forge gymn really is only 23.99 a month, I hope you enjoy it, and then come back and say how cheaper Sheffield is than london, and superior in terms of Gymn facilities. -

Another Sheffield basher....gymn membership in Sheffield, 23.99 a month for PONDS forge...brand new, and the pools are included, as are many classes. It's brand new, and we also get to use four around the town. It's not an argument, it's a debate, and you're losing it with that post. As for your travel costs, that is your own fault for driving a chavvie 4x4 -
Does anyone miss local fishmongers?

Sheffy2008 replied to espadrille's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Yes, good find, a few..but no random stabbings in the face, and beating girls at bus stops. A gang fight... that wouldn't even make the news in london....it happens every evening there.... -

To drive from Hammermsith flyover up Woodlane to the scrubbs takes 3 hours at the moment. I wish I was joking. My old boss there has been there along time, he didn't realise how much things had changed when we explained the rental prices etc.....and actually supported us when we wanted to leave.....good fella, from the North orignally though, of course. london is simply massively overpopulated and that has destroyed quality of life. -

Sheffy2008 replied to Sheffy2008's topic in Sheffield Property & Housing
Good point Willman. But the vendor still owes the remaining outstanding debt to the mortgage provider. We don't know if the owner had other loans secured on the property too. Not good for ones credit rating, but my original post was to ask how Sheffielders can minimise the effects of the house crash/credit crunch. -
Rent reduction for faulty appliances?

The landlord does not have the deposit, so you are misinformed. Such theft would be illegal. -
