  1. Sheffield duo of drums/loops, guitar/looping, into boards of canada, fripp, dark experimental looking for a bassist (or keyboards in a bass role) - intention: recording, modest gigging, pride, creativity. We aim to use the technology rather than be tied to it. Must be creative, commited and easy going - vocals would be useful! Rehearsing in Greystones once a week on average, day or evening. We're in our 50s (ie "experienced") but age not a factor to us. Check out our recent demo https://soundcloud.com/nick-robinson-uk/funnel-1
  2. Check out music on our site http://www.septicfatality.co.uk and on youtube and facebook - clocks ticking - don't delay!

  5. A "friends" group has been set up, early days, but we have a Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/friendsofsheffieldcastle and a fledgeling web site http://www.friendsofsheffieldcastle.org.uk/ Keep checking the pages - we'll be offering membership soon and a chance to do something practical to save this fascinating part of our heritage. If you have any info to share, please contact us via either site.

  12. One fingered bass players are thin on the ground
  13. Using digital photo professional, I'm shooting in raw format on my eos400D, I click on "white balance", choose "click white balance" but nothing happens, the help file says if I hover the mouse over the image I can select a "white" point, but the pointer is unchanged and the slider greyed out. I can manually adjust WB using the "tune" colour wheel, but it's hit and miss. Any clues much appreciated!
  14. I'm trying to take some top-notch photos of origami models to use in a book. I have a canon EOS400D, a tripod, a daylight bulb in a lamp and a small set of daylight flourescents. What do I need to be aware of? What is the best (low biudget) way of lighting up the subject to minimise shadow? Ive looked at these lighting box kits, but the lamps seem too feeble to proerly light it up, plus I need to vary the angle I shoot at. I live in Norton Lees and would be delighted to accept advice for a cup of tea if there are any local experts. Is it best to shoot in RAW format? I use Photoshop generally, which AFAIK doesn't open them. The camera came with Digital Photo Professional...

  24. Sixquid play classic and modern rock covers, such as Foo Fighters, Killers, Free, Hendrix, Paul Weller, CCR, Muse, QOTSA etc. We have our own practice room at stag works John Street, practice once a week on average. Mixed ages. Our bassist is leaving to focus on his original band, so we need someone reliable, adaptable, organised, enthusiastic, looking for around 4 gigs a month. See http://www.reverbnation.com/sixquid or facebook
