  1. The pope shouldn't apologise. I don't remember the islamic world apologising for 9/11 or the London bomb attacks. Peace? What a load of old cobblers. The sooner people realise that religion is the main foundation of evil and wars on this planet the better.
  2. So you're telling me that motorists don't travel with children in their cars? You're telling me I've not almost had an idiot motorcyclists come through my front windscreen (which would have killed myself and child travelling in the back seat) because he was overtaking on the snake pass ACROSS DOUBLE WHITE LINES with a combined speed of well over 100 miles per hour? Just because children don't play on country lanes, doesn't mean there aren't children using them.
  3. Just had a new idea for a blockbuster movie. "Spiders in a House" Amazing.
  4. Wouldn't like to say. I don't have any stats to hand. My point was that a rarely see motorcyclists driving below or at the speed limit.
  5. Yeah I've seen that. It's also called Snowden Hill on Tomtom Navigator 3 software. I thought I must be missing something!
  6. That's probably because there are more cars than bikes on the roads.
  7. Incorrect statement. You ask ANY residents of the peak district what their major annoyance is - that's right, motorcyclists speeding. That, and there not being enough sheep. And yes, I hate little chavs in their girly vauxhall corsa's speeding around my neighbourhood just as much.
  8. Breaking the speed limit is the major cause of deaths on our roads. I VERY RARELY see motorcyclists sticking to the speed limit. They cross double white lines just to skip a car (when theres a queue a mile long of traffic, so not really much point), they weave in and out of traffic, and generally drive in a menacing way. They buy super-powered bikes that can reach speeds of over 150MPH only for one reason. To see how fast they can go. And they do it putting themselves and other road users at risk.
  9. Skatiechik - Have mentioned that there are similar development plans in other parts of Stocksbridge; the letter has already gone otherwise I would have changed it to be more specific. Sorry!
  10. That's a disgrace. I didn't know they could get away with that,
  11. Hi everyone, thanks for the support. We have launched (amongst many other things) an online petition for the people who did not get a letter from the council. We will be taking this matter to Look Local tomorrow and also writing to the Sheffield Star. The petition can be found here:- http://www.petitiononline.com/stocks1/petition.html
  12. I've heard that if it encroaches onto your private space then you can do something about it. I.e. if people can see into your bedroom window from this new build. Anybody know anything else?
  13. Condolences to the family but I can hardly say I'm surprised. I use this road a hell of a lot and often see motocyclists exceeding the limit - maybe sometimes 70-80MPH on stretches. A little further up the road near entering the peak district is where I've seen the worst driving. About 4 years ago on the snake pass I was literally centimeters from having a speeding motorcyclist come through my windscreen as he overtook on a bend and came onto my side of the road. I was doing about 40MPH and would say from experience he was doing over 70. This combined speed would have surely killed us both and for what? Being a little late? Or maybe for a little adrenalin rush from the cyclist? It enrages me when I see adverts telling motorists to always look out for motor bikes. Then you see them weaving in and out of cars in the overtaking lanes on the M1 doing 30mph more than everyone else.
  14. Well the media has certainly pulled the wool over my eyes. I wonder how many more people were unaware of the "other" facts?
