  4. Hello, Im not sure if this is the right place for this thread but here goes. I was abit of a 'problem child' as a polite way to put it. My parents were told that i suffered from Aspergers Syndrome when i was 13 years old after being refered to a psychiatrist. This as some people may know is alot to deal with when it comes to social interactions. But life went on and after several years working at it i finally overcame the negative points of Asperges and started to build a pretty active life. Now about 9 months ago i somehow developed a lappsed disk in my lower back which disabled me for some time, after 3 months with a physio things got back to normal and were great for a month or two. Then i started to experience pains all over my body to which eventually resulted in me having to be rushed to hospital due to my legs loosing feeling and becomming unresponsive. Whilst at hospital i was given all the necessary checks like cardiac monitoring and reflex tests and was sent home shortly after with a clean bill of health but the pains still remained. i consulted my physio who advised me that it could very well be pshycological due to the siatica caused by the lappsed disk and that it would eventually go away. 4 months down the line and things have only gotten worse, ive been back to my physio and gp on several occasions and they put it down to gastric pains as it was concentrating round my chest area, i was given medication and sent away. To my supprise the medicine didnt work and things have gotten worse only now the doctor makes excuses like there arent the facilities to send me for tests without good reason and that im just displaying symptoms of stress and gastric problems. With nowhere to go for advice i fealt like i was left with no option but to put up with it. My partners mother suffers with Fibromyalgia and only when she started to piece my symptoms together did she suspect that i have the syndrome. Then whilst on the phone with the NHS direct, the nurse said that my symptoms described Costochondritis which is also associated with Fibromyalgia. Putting the peices of the puzzle together i went back to my GP with a reccomendation from the nurse at NHS direct that i may be suffering with Fibromyaligia only to be told that it doesnt merit any special treatment as it is not a illness that causes physical complications and can be dealt with by simple exercises and pain killers. Just a point that the pain killers dont work, they leave me with other complications which defies the point of taking them in the first place. it was only when browsing the web for solutions i came accross some articles where other Aspergers sufferers had developed Fibromyalgia and found it hard to get help or maintain their daily routines and i was wondering if anyone on these forums have similar stories or any advice that hasnt been outlined above. I know it sounds like a rant but i feel like the NHS just pushes illnesses like this aside and i dont think its fair considering that our tax and national insurance contributions pay their wages. Chris
